Chapter 24

The paparazzi camped outside her house for a day and a night. The police had come several times, but those paparazzi returned as soon as the police left.

Her agency, Galax Star Productions, had announced its termination of her contract. Willie Castillo, the owner of Galax Star Production, demanded her to pay a sky-high $550 million compensation.

Jean was driven into a desperate situation.

Later, she received a call from Wallingden Hospital. Her hand trembled as she repeated herself. “What did you say, doctor? What happened to my grandma?”

Her grandma was the only person who cared about her.

She lost her daughter in her later years and suffered severe physical and mental trauma. In recent years, she had become even weaker. The oxygen tube fell off from her nostrils, and when she was found, she was in a coma. Now she was still in the emergency room.

Jean was not afraid when she was framed for things she did not do. But now, she was trembling.

If anything happened to grandma, she did not know if she could hold on any longer.

The doctor sighed over the phone. “You should come to the hospital as soon as possible. If she can’t regain her consciousness, maybe this will be the last...”

Jean’s eyes reddened. Tears in her eyes could no longer flow. Seeing her grandma for the last time? She could not even get out of the house.

She called Jenny, but Jenny was on a foreign working trip. No way Jenny could help her now.

She called Anne, but she could not get through her phone.

At last, she called Bobby Hudson, one of her few best friends in show business.

The phone went through quickly.

“What a mess you have caused there, Jean. I was only away for a few days, and these things happened. Why didn’t you reply to my message all this while?”

Bobby sounded anxious. He was the top brass in show business, a truly skilled actor. He was a good-looking and elegant man. So it was rare to hear him speaking in such an anxious tone.

“My grandma is fighting for her life in the emergency room. I need to go to see her quickly, but there are paparazzi outside my house. Can you help me?”

Jean’s voice was trembling.

“Hang on there. I will find a way. Don’t worry.”

Bobby’s voice was gentle and pleasant as if it had a soothing, magical power.

Half an hour later, someone called out outside the door, “Jean is over there!”

Those paparazzi turned their heads and saw a figure that resembled Jean. So they gave chase.

Jean took this opportunity and sneaked out. After running just two steps out, she looked back. Her stomach churned when she saw the word ‘murderer’ was sprayed across her door in red.
