Chapter 7

Author: Bright Iridium
During the three days Luther stayed away from home, Sabrina did not sit around waiting.

She went through the house and sorted out everything that belonged to her. Anything that was hers, she took. Not a single item was left behind.

She packed everything into boxes and called a moving company to haul it away.

Watching her move with such determination, Mrs. Watson quickly realized this was not just a moment of anger. She immediately tried calling Luther, but he did not answer.

With no way to reach him, Mrs. Watson could only try to persuade Sabrina herself.

But Sabrina’s attitude never wavered.

On the fourth day, Mrs. Watson saw her coming downstairs from the second floor with a suitcase in hand. She hurried over, clearly anxious.

“Mrs. William, where are you going?”

“Mrs. Watson, thank you for everything these past few years,” Sabrina said.

She took a thick envelope out of her bag and handed it to her.

“I have not been in a good state these past five years. I know I have made your job harder than it should have been. Please take this as a small token of my thanks.”

“Oh no, I cannot accept this.” Mrs. Watson waved her hands quickly. “Married couples argue sometimes. Mr. William still cares about you. Please do not act on impulse…”

“I am not acting on impulse.” Sabrina pressed the envelope into her hands. “I am leaving. Please take care of yourself.”

With that, she pulled her suitcase behind her and walked straight out the door without looking back.

“Mrs. William! Wait, the money…”

By the time Mrs. Watson chased outside, clutching the envelope, Sabrina had already gotten into a white supercar.

The engine roared as the car drifted sharply out of the driveway and sped away in a cloud of exhaust.

All Mrs. Watson could do was pull out her phone and send Luther a message.

‘Mr. William, something serious has happened. Mrs. William has left.’

Half an hour later, the white supercar pulled into the underground garage of Skygarden Residence, a luxury apartment complex in the city center.

This was one of the properties Sabrina had purchased before she got married.

It was the penthouse of the most prestigious tower in the complex. The interior alone was over three thousand square feet, with a private rooftop garden that overlooked the entire city.

Each floor had only one unit, ensuring complete privacy.

The car rolled into its private parking space and came to a stop.

The woman in the driver’s seat removed her sunglasses and turned to look at Sabrina in the passenger seat.

“Are you sure about this?”

Sabrina met Wendy Garner’s probing gaze and gave a faint smile.

“What? You think I am just acting out of anger too?”

“Not exactly.” Wendy rubbed the bridge of her nose. “It is just that you gave up so much for Luther. Walking away and letting him and Mindy be together just does not sound like something you would do.”

“Divorce is just a way to cut ties with Luther,” Sabrina said coolly. “As for letting them be happy?”

She let out a quiet, icy laugh.

“I have no intention of doing that.”

Hearing this, Wendy finally relaxed.

“Good. That is more like you.” She nodded. “Whatever you plan to do next, I am with you all the way.”

“Thank you.” Sabrina smiled at her. “I am lucky to still have you.”

“Of course you are,” Wendy said with a snort. “I am a lot better than that backstabbing snake Mindy.”

She frowned.

“But honestly, I still cannot believe she betrayed you like that. Looks like both of us seriously underestimated her acting skills.”

“We did not underestimate her acting.” Sabrina pushed the car door open, her voice turning cold.

“We underestimated human nature.”

She stepped out of the car.

“I was the one who pulled her out of the gutter. If I could lift her up, I can just as easily throw her right back down.”

Wendy got out of the car too and slammed the door shut. She raised an eyebrow at Sabrina.

“Back where she came from,” she said. “Sounds perfect to me.”

The movers had to make several trips before all of Sabrina’s belongings were finally brought upstairs.

The apartment had three bedrooms and a spacious living room with a separated activity area, which made the main space feel especially open. The interior was done in a light French style, Sabrina’s favorite.

She had personally drawn the renovation plans herself.

Back then, Luther had looked over the sketches and joked, asking if she had put so much thought into the design because she intended to make it their marital home.

At the time they had just gotten engaged. After years of secretly loving him, Sabrina had finally gotten her wish. She had been in an unusually good mood and replied with a smile that it could certainly serve as their wedding home.

Because of that one sentence from him, every detail of the renovation, from the layout to the furniture and appliances, had been carefully chosen by her.

She had imagined the two of them living here together.

Raising their children here.

Later, however, Luther bought Starhaven Estate as their official marital home. Though Sabrina felt a trace of disappointment, she still went along with his decision.

And so this apartment had been left empty.

Looking back now, Sabrina could not help but feel that perhaps fate had arranged things long ago.

Stepping into the apartment again, she felt unexpectedly relieved.

Relieved that she had once put so much care into designing and furnishing this place.

At least everything here had been arranged exactly according to her own tastes. Every corner belonged entirely to her.

A world that was hers alone.

Moving was exhausting work.

Since Sabrina was pregnant, Wendy refused to let her lift a finger. She only allowed Sabrina to stand nearby and tell her where everything should go.

From morning until dusk, the new home was finally set in order.

Sabrina ordered dinner, and the two of them ate together in the rooftop garden.

Wendy glanced at her and asked, “Are you planning to keep the pregnancy a secret from Luther?”

“Yes.” Sabrina nodded. “He already has a child with Mindy. This baby has nothing to do with him.”

“But once your belly starts to show, you will not be able to hide it anymore.”

“That is why I have to settle everything before that happens.”

Sabrina took a sip of fish soup, paused for a moment, then continued.

“These days even an uncontested divorce requires a one month cooling off period. If Luther cooperates, things will be simple. If he refuses, then I will have to file a lawsuit.”

“Then charge him with bigamy,” Wendy said immediately. “That illegitimate child and Cloudbrook Estate are proof he cheated.”

“I know.” Sabrina set the bowl down. “The problem is that the lawyer willing to take my divorce case has not had time to sit down with me yet. I will check with Heather again tomorrow.”

“Good. As long as you have a plan.”

Sabrina nodded. “Come to the company with me tomorrow.”

Wendy agreed without hesitation. “Of course.”

The next morning, when Sabrina woke up, Wendy had already prepared breakfast.

Sabrina changed into a tailored business suit and applied light makeup. It brought a bit of color back to her face and made her look more energetic.

But the refined makeup clashed with her dry, dull hair.

She ran her fingers through the brittle strands and silently made a decision.

Two hours later, Sabrina walked out of the salon.

Her waist-length hair had been cut into a sleek collarbone-length style.

Wendy raised her phone and snapped a picture, then gave her a thumbs up.

“There she is. The dazzling Sabrina I remember is finally back.”

Sabrina smiled faintly and ran her fingers through her newly cut hair. For the first time in a long while, she felt light.

Hair that had been starved of nourishment could not be saved with even the most expensive treatments.

Sometimes the only solution was to cut it off.

Only by letting go could you truly start again.

That applied to hair.

And to people as well.

At ten o’clock that morning, Sabrina arrived at the company with Wendy.

This time, the security guards did not dare stop her.

The two of them went straight upstairs and took the elevator to the executive floor.

Mindy had just finished a meeting and stepped out of the conference room when a young secretary hurried over, looking nervous.

“Ms. Jackson,” she said quietly, “that woman from last time… Ms. Chatsworth… she’s here again.”

Mindy paused. A faint crease formed between her brows.

“Where is she?”

The secretary lowered her head even further, her voice barely above a whisper.

“She’s… she’s in your office.”

When Mindy pushed open the door with Anne beside her, she arrived just in time to see Wendy toss Mindy’s nameplate straight into the trash.

Wendy clapped her hands lightly and met Mindy’s angry glare.

“Just clearing out some ugly trash. No need to thank me.”

Mindy’s face darkened. “This is a company, not a place for you two to make a scene.”

Sabrina turned around.

Her cold gaze swept straight over Mindy.

“Mindy, I’m taking back what’s mine. This office, this position, this company, none of it ever belonged to you. Now that I’m back, it’s time for you to go back where you came from.”

It might be your precious Mindy calling.”Luther shot her a frown, then released his grip on her and took out the phone. The call was coming from the landline at Cloudbrook. He answered immediately. “What is it?”“Sir, something’s wrong. Or understand that you and Mindy were secretly carrying on under the excuse of raising your brother’s child?”His expression turned impatient. “I told you. What’s between Mindy and me is not what you think.”“Luther, you’re unbelievable.” Sabrina glared at him. “Do I really have to catch you two in bed before you’ll admit what’s going on?”Luther’s face darkened. “Sabrina, enough.”“I went to Cloudbrook.”Luther

She glanced at the folder and frowned. “What is this?”“You’ll know once you read it,” Luther said evenly. After a brief pause, Sabrina finally took the folder.…The file was thorough.Inside was a paternity report, along with a stack of photographs. The man in the photos had a face identical to Luther’s, except for a small blue mole at the corner of his eye.The paternity test also showed a biological father-son relationship.Sample 1: Father, Evan William.Sample 2: Son, Callum William.Sabrina frowned. “Who is Evan William

For a moment, the little girl and the grown woman simply stared at each other in silence.“Cecilia Cross.”A man’s gentle voice came from behind her.Sabrina turned around. At some point, Adrian had appeared a few steps behind her.Meeting her gaze, he spoke again. “She’s trying to say her name is Cecilia Cross. Her pronunciation just isn’t very clear yet.”“Daddy~”The moment Ceci saw Adrian, her eyes lit up. She immediately turned and ran toward him.Adrian bent down and picked his daughter up, then looked at Sabrina. “Ms. Chatsworth, I hope Ceci didn’t cause you any trouble.”Sabrina stood up and looked at him. “Not at all. Ceci’s adorable.”The little girl lifted one small finger and pointed at Sabrina. “Mommy~”Adrian froze for a second, then turned to look at Sabrina.Sabrina pressed her lips together, clearly a little embarrassed.“Ceci, this is Miss Chatsworth,” Adrian explained patiently to his daughter.“Remember what Daddy told you? “Ceci!”An adult’s voice called out from inside the law firm.Sabrina looked up just in time to see a middle-aged woman hurrying toward them, panic written all over her face.“Oh my goodness, my little sweetheart!”The woman crouched down in front of the little girl and let out a helpless sigh. “I only stepped away to use the bathroom for a minute. How did you run all the way out here by yourself?”The little girl kept clinging to Sabrina, her wide doe-liked eyes fixed on the woman without saying a word.Seeing that, Sabrina asked, “Are you her family?”The woman stood up and quickly explained, “Oh, no. I’m just one of the cleaning staff here at the law firm. She’s Mr. Cross’s daughter. She’s very attached to him, so she comes to the office with him every day. When Mr. Cross is busy working, the rest of us help keep an eye on her.”So that was it.Sabrina said, “Kids this age are curious and don’t understand danger.
