Chapter 6

Author: Bright Iridium
If this had happened in the past, Sabrina would have already stormed over and demanded an explanation.

But she would not do that anymore.

At Cloudbrook, she had seen with her own eyes how Luther doted on Mindy and that illegitimate child.

She knew very clearly that Luther had changed. Even if they had another child together, their marriage would never go back to what it once was.

A man who had given both his heart and body to someone else was not someone she wanted anymore.

But even if they divorced, she would never let Mindy and that child benefit from it.

Sabrina walked over with a cold expression and sat down across from Luther.

She did not touch the bowl of soup. She simply stared at him.

“Luther, I built that company from the ground up. I do not agree with you giving shares to Mindy,” she said coldly. “I do not want to drag this out. You cheated, which makes you the party at fault. When we divorce, aside from the original William family assets, everything else we built together, whether before or during the marriage, belongs to me.”

She said it all in one breath.

Her tone was resolute, and the sharp edge that had once defined her had returned to her eyes.

For a moment, as Luther looked at her, he almost saw the woman who used to stand beside him in the business world, fighting battles at his side.

But five years had changed too many things.

His expression did not shift. He cut a small piece of the steak and pushed the plate slightly toward her.

“This is not something to discuss during dinner,” he said calmly. “I know you are upset, but Dr. Chancer said you need to eat your meals on time. Do not undo the progress you have made over the past few months.”

Sabrina looked down at the perfectly cut piece of meat on her plate and let out a cold laugh.

“Luther, just looking at you makes me sick. I cannot eat.”

He paused and lifted his eyes to look at her.

Their gazes met.

His narrow eyes darkened, and a faint crease formed between his brows, hinting at impatience.

Sabrina held his gaze without the slightest hint of backing down.

From the moment she learned the truth, she had told herself she would never force herself to endure anything for him again.

The air between them turned stiff.

It was obvious that this dinner was not going to continue peacefully.

Luther set his fork down and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

“You were the one who promoted those senior executives back then. They refused to accept Mindy’s authority. When you handed the company to her, was it not because you wanted her to stand on her own?”

“I gave her shares only so she would have more authority within the company. It was meant to help her manage things for you.”

“Right,” Sabrina said with a cold smile. “That sounds like a very reasonable explanation.”

“And what happened after she got those shares? She immediately pushed out every single person I personally trained.”

“Sabrina, you have been away from the company for five years,” Luther said with a frown. “No company can go five years without personnel changes. Do not let your emotions cloud your judgment like this.”

“Is it really my judgment that is clouded?” Sabrina shot to her feet, her voice rising in anger. “Or is it Mindy abusing your support to repay my kindness with betrayal?”

The moment she stood up, the room spun violently around her.

“Sabrina!”

Luther rushed forward and caught her before she collapsed to the floor.

The familiar scent of juniper drifted close.

Then she felt herself being lifted into his arms.

Her consciousness wavered in and out as she heard Luther calling for Mrs. Watson, telling her to get the driver ready to go to the hospital.

The thought of her pregnancy made her heart sink.

Forcing herself to stay conscious, she raised her hand and grabbed the front of his shirt.

Luther stopped mid-step and looked down at her.

“You are awake?”

Sabrina opened her eyes. Her face was pale, and her brows were tightly drawn.

“I am not going to the hospital…”

“Now is not the time for you to throw a tantrum.”

“I am not throwing a tantrum.” Her fingers tightened slightly on his shirt. “It is just low blood sugar. I have had it for years. There is no need to make a big deal out of it…”

His expression softened slightly.

After a brief hesitation, he turned and carried her upstairs instead.

“Mrs. Watson, heat up the dinner and bring it to the room,” he instructed.

“Of course,” Mrs. Watson replied.

Master Bedroom, Second Floor

Luther carried Sabrina upstairs and set her down on the bed.

Leaning back against the headboard, she pressed her fingers to her temple. The dizziness from earlier had come from standing up too quickly while she was already worked up. It had mostly passed now, though she still felt weak.

Luther sat down beside the bed. His dark eyes lingered on her pale face.

“Did you skip your meals again today?”

Sabrina’s hand paused against her temple.

She looked up at him and let out a cold laugh. “When a wife finds out her husband cheated and even has an illegitimate child, who would still have an appetite?”

Luther froze.

“You said you were going overseas on a business trip, but you were actually at Cloudbrook. You were there celebrating that child’s birthday with Mindy.”

A faint crease formed between Luther’s brows. “How do you know about Cloudbrook? Have you been investigating me?”

Sabrina let out a sharp laugh. “You have the nerve to keep your mistress and illegitimate child there. Why would you think I would not find out? Or did you think I was supposed to stay your clueless little fool forever?”

“I never planned to hide it from you forever.” His expression turned complicated. “This situation is complicated. I will explain it to you later.”

“Explain?” Sabrina scoffed. “That child calls you Dad and calls Mindy Mom. He looks almost exactly like you. What more is there to explain? Are you going to explain that you did not mean to lie to me? Or that you did not mean to start sleeping with Mindy right after our twins died?”

The more she spoke, the more agitated she became.

Suddenly she raised her hand and slapped him across the face.

The blow snapped his head to the side.

Luther’s expression darkened instantly.

“Sabrina, it has been five years. Have you lost your mind yet?”

He grabbed her wrist tightly. Anger churned in his dark eyes.

“Callum is not the same as our two children. He is innocent.”

“Luther, that child is five years old.”

Her eyes were bloodshot as she stared at him.

“He is only four months younger than my twins. When you were celebrating his birthday, did you ever think about my children? You say he is innocent? Then what about our children? Did they deserve to die?”

Her voice broke as she shouted.

“Or did you forget they died because of you. Because of you!”

That last sentence tore out of her throat.

It was the anguished accusation of a mother who had lost everything.

Five years ago, that kidnapping had been meant for Luther.

But in the end, it was their children who paid the price.

Over the past five years, Sabrina had blamed herself countless times. There were nights she woke screaming from nightmares, replaying the kidnapping again and again in her mind, wondering what she could have done differently. If she had acted faster. If she had found a way to save them.

She had nearly lost her mind.

She had hurt herself.

But she had never blamed Luther.

Because one night, long ago, she had seen him crying alone in the study. After that, she had believed with all her heart that he loved their children just as deeply as she did. She believed that no one regretted what happened more than he did.

Until the day she saw him holding that child in his arms, looking at him with such tenderness.

Only then did she realize how foolish she had been.

Everything she believed had been nothing more than wishful thinking.

Just like every argument they had over the past five years, this one ended the same way. Luther turned and walked away in cold silence.

But this time, as he turned toward the door, Sabrina stared at his back with reddened eyes and spoke slowly, each word deliberate.

“Luther, I want a divorce. And neither you nor Mindy will ever have my forgiveness.”

He paused for only a second.

Then he walked out without looking back.

After that night, Luther did not come home for three straight days.

Sabrina no longer cared.

Since she had already decided to divorce him, there was no reason for him to know about the baby she was carrying.

She hid the pregnancy test report away and quietly began planning for the future.

After the divorce, she would go abroad to give birth.

From then on, she would raise her child on her own and start a brand new life.

Or understand that you and Mindy were secretly carrying on under the excuse of raising your brother’s child?”His expression turned impatient. “I told you. What’s between Mindy and me is not what you think.”“Luther, you’re unbelievable.” Sabrina glared at him. “Do I really have to catch you two in bed before you’ll admit what’s going on?”Luther’s face darkened. “Sabrina, enough.”“I went to Cloudbrook.”Luther

She glanced at the folder and frowned. “What is this?”“You’ll know once you read it,” Luther said evenly. After a brief pause, Sabrina finally took the folder.…The file was thorough.Inside was a paternity report, along with a stack of photographs. The man in the photos had a face identical to Luther’s, except for a small blue mole at the corner of his eye.The paternity test also showed a biological father-son relationship.Sample 1: Father, Evan William.Sample 2: Son, Callum William.Sabrina frowned. “Who is Evan William

Her pronunciation just isn’t very clear yet.”“Daddy~”The moment Ceci saw Adrian, her eyes lit up. “Ceci!”An adult’s voice called out from inside the law firm.Sabrina looked up just in time to see a middle-aged woman hurrying toward them, panic written all over her face.“Oh my goodness, my little sweetheart!”The woman crouched down in front of the little girl and let out a helpless sigh. “I only stepped away to use the bathroom for a minute. How did you run all the way out here by yourself?”The little girl kept clinging to Sabrina, her wide doe-liked eyes fixed on the woman without saying a word.Seeing that, Sabrina asked, “Are you her family?”The woman stood up and quickly explained, “Oh, no. I’m just one of the cleaning staff here at the law firm. She’s Mr. Cross’s daughter. She’s very attached to him, so she comes to the office with him every day. When Mr. Cross is busy working, the rest of us help keep an eye on her.”So that was it.Sabrina said, “Kids this age are curious and don’t understand danger.
