Alan sat rigidly on the sofa, his eyes would occasionally dart towards the stairs and each time a sigh would leave his lips when he doesn't see her coming down. He couldn't tell if it was a sigh of relief or nervousness, he doesn't know if he wants her to come down now or wait a little longer and the worst part, he hasn't figured out how to tell her.
