Chapter Fifty Four

~Adriana’s POV~

“Adriana!” Massimo growled again, and just like before, I flinched involuntarily before scurrying out of my chair like some chased mouse.

His deep dark eyes raked my entire body sensuously, making me gulp and despite the fact my mother was also in the same room as us, he took a few steps closer to me, grabbed my arm and snarled;

“Do I have to force you to do every single thing? Why can’t you just ever obey simple instructions?!” He growled but I still couldn’t say why I could hear the silent words; ‘are you stupid?’ ringing in my ears.

“Adriana!” I heard my mom call out to me but I couldn’t bring myself to look at her. From the urgency in her voice, it was obvious that she was worried about me; I didn’t have to look into those eyes to be sure.

“Massimo!” She tried again and suddenly, as if under some kind of spell, Massimo quickly let go of my arm and began to walk in her direction.

“Ma, I think you’d have to go back to bed,” He whispered quietly like an adult talking
