Chapter Forty Five

~Adriana’s POV~

“Ouch!” I cried aloud as I stumbled and fell to the floor limply.

My body shook violently from both starvation and weakness and I couldn’t help but think that the weakness was as a result of starvation:

Massimo had kept to his words and had locked me in my room since yesterday’s evening.

Initially, I had banged at the door, screaming and crying for help, hoping that he would have compassion but after a few minutes of crying and no one came to help, I gave up because it was obvious that he wasn’t willing to.

I had tried conserving my energy and channeling it into helping myself out of this situation but after a few hours, the effects of being locked in began to take its toll on me.

Half expecting that he would come for me in the morning, I was glad that my misery would soon be over but those thoughts immediately flew out the window when morning came and he didn’t come… no one did.

I continued waiting, like that until now and still there was no one by the door.
