Chapter Forty Eight

Adriana’s POV

“No!” I screamed fearfully, sitting up on my bed with a start. My entire body shook violently from fear and even my breath hitched in horror.

I quickly glanced around the room, half expecting to see the monster from my dreams and when I realized that I was finally safe, I heaved a sigh of relief.

Shrugging, I slowly crawled out of bed and groaned when I discovered that my dress was drenched in sweat and in fact, as it was, I was already dripping wet.

Just when I felt that my raging heartbeat had been successfully calmed, a scream from the distance tore into the silence of the night and again my heart began beating frantically.

The screams came repeatedly, tearing into the silence and despite the fact that I was curious, I didn’t dare to leave my room or to check for its source because I was scared of Massimo.
