Chapter 38

Caroline’s POV

After I told Justin to go and help Samael, I took a quick shower. Ella was taking a nap on our bed so I walked toward the balcony. It was dark now, the beautiful evening sky was gone, replaced with a dark blanket decorated with shining stars.

I was unable to see the river flowing by the house but was able to hear the retelling of the water through it. a breeze of cold wind made my eyes flutter close and sigh in contentment. I felt peaceful, I like this feeling.

A small smile stretched on my lips as I remembered how Samael was stealing glances at me the whole ride back from the market. I was able to feel his gaze on me but choose to not react to that. I have felt his gaze on me many times in the office too but brushed it off. But I never admitted that I liked how his eyes follow my every action. I like his attentiveness towards me, it makes me feel special.

“Wow, the sky looks so beautiful!” I turned to look at Ella who has her eyes fixed on the sky.

“You are up,” I said
