Chapter 124

Genevieve's Point Of View

I was in my car, parked inconspicuously at our usual meeting spot, waiting for Casey. The cold air inside the car did little to alleviate the growing unease in my chest. Each passing second felt like an eternity, and my impatience was getting the best of me.

Finally, the car door swung open, and Casey slipped into the passenger seat. Her face was a mosaic of emotions - anxiety, relief, and something else I couldn't quite place. I couldn't hide my irritation as I turned to her, my fingers tapping impatiently on the steering wheel.

"What took you so long, Casey?" I snapped, my tone sharp and accusatory.

Casey's eyes darted around nervously, her lips trembling. "I'm sorry, Genevieve," she stammered, her voice quivering. "I... I couldn't find Vivian at our usual meeting spot."

My heart skipped a beat, and a shiver of fear raced down my spine. Panic began to well up within me as I asked, "Are you absolutely sure? Did she say anything about us?"
