Johnson’s POV

I rushed out of the auction house, my heart hammering in my chest. I had to get away from these men and to the border before they did. But as I ran down an alley that would lead me to my car, I saw something that stopped me dead in my tracks.

Jake and his men. They were at the end of the alley, crowded around a figure on the ground. I watched, horrified, as they kicked and beat the woman. And even more horrifying, there were two police men not even five feet away. At first, I was certain that the police would intervene. I mean, it was the POLICE after all. But the police did nothing. They only stood by and watched as Jake and his men kicked the figure on the ground.

Cautiously, I took a few steps towards the men and the figure on the ground. It realized it was a woman – a woman who looked an awful lot like Trista!

“No!” I hollered, rushing towards them, overcome with fear. Had they found Trista? Had she been here after all? It was possible! Maybe she hadn’t left yet. Or

Trista’s POV Carlos was clearly intimidated by Liam’s presence, and the possibility that he could unleash his alpha aura again at any given time, but he knew something that we didn’t. Which was why he didn’t back down. “You think you’re so powerful,” he scoffed, a sardonic smile on his face. “But you’re nothing Liam. Not now. Not since your parents have returned. They’re the REAL rulers of your pack. You’ve just been a stand-in during their absence.” “What are you talking about?” Liam asked. A feeling of dread washed over me. There was something about the look in Carlos’ eyes that left me feeling very unsettled. “I’m talking about the fact that you’ve never been the true leader of Blue Moon Crescent. That honor belongs to your father and your father alone.” That statement hit a nerve in Liam. I saw him wince. His relationship with his father was a source of contention. Sven never thought that Liam

“No. Get your hands off me,” Hazel cried out. She squirmed under Carlos’ grip. “LET. HER. GO,” Liam hollered, and then he released his alpha aura. It came off of him in waves, so strongly that it blew back Hazel’s hair. Carlos faltered under the weight of Liam’s alpha aura. It had been a long time since I’d seen Liam unleash his alpha aura. It wasn’t something he did lightly. In fact, in all the time we’d been married, he’d only used it a handful of times. An alpha aura was a very powerful thing, and Liam felt that it should be used sparingly. Which was why both Hazel and I were so surprised that he was using it now, to protect Hazel. Carlos had underestimated Liam’s power and presence. Shocked, he let go of Hazel’s arm. Hazel immediately ran away from him, to Liam’s side. Liam got himself under control and his human face returned. Carlos’ face did the same. Both men were breathing heavily. “I will n

Trista’s POV Fear flooded through me. I hated the thought of Johnson being hurt. And at the hands of Carlos nonetheless? What if he was all alone somewhere, out there in the forest, with a really bad wound? What if he needed help? How would I find him? How could I help him? I felt so powerless, so useless. I wanted to be with him. But I couldn’t be. I couldn’t even say anything. “Well, enough of this,” Felicity said nonchalantly. “There’s nothing more to see here.” She turned to the guards. “Let us know immediately if you find any more information about this white beast.” The guards nodded and I saw Liam clench his fists. His mother had no right to be giving orders. That was Liam’s jurisdiction. Felicity linked her arm in Sven’s and suggested we all go back to the pack, since there wasn’t much more we could do at the border.“Keep a careful watch,” Sven said, wagging his finger at the guards. “If you see or hear anythin

What the hell was Carlos doing here, I thought to myself. I hadn’t seen that asshole since Hazel’s wedding, which wasn’t long enough in my mind. He’d ripped off my jewelry designs. Just stolen them all and then sold them in a store. He didn’t even try to change them in the slightest. He just took them and made exact replicas. Not to mention the way he’d treated Hazel. He was the WORST possible husband imaginable. So why on earth was he just standing here at the border of Blue Moon Crescent Pack? I wasn’t the only one shocked by his random appearance. Clearly Liam was just as shocked as me. “What are you doing here?” Liam snapped at him. “Oh, Carlos, hello,” Felicity said, moving forward to take his hands in hers. She didn’t seem the least bit flummoxed that he was there, which only served to confuse me and Liam even more. “So glad you could make it.” “Mother, what’s going on?” Liam asked. “Is that anyway to greet

Trista’s POV As soon as we got to the border, I tried to contact Johnson again. Serena wasn’t able to connect with him, so I whipped out my phone and tried calling. It went straight to voicemail. I tried to leave a message, but his voicemail was full. All from my messages probably. Which meant that he hadn’t been checking his phone. IF he even still had his phone. I was pretty sure by this point that the white beast was Johnson. It made so much sense. I’d seen Johnson in the forest right before we went to Blue Moon Crescent, so I knew he was in the vicinity. He also knew we were going to Liam’s pack, so if he wanted to find us, it wouldn’t be hard. So the main question wasn’t IF the white beast was Johnson, not so far as I was concerned. The main question was WHY was he here? We weren’t even at the border for five minutes before a group of guards came up to us. “We found blood

Trista’s POV “Let her go,” Liam growled at his mother. “We need to sort this out. You deserve to be acknowledged as the children’s father. Trista can’t keep hiding the truth from everyone. I tried to shrug off my arm but her grip was tight. “I said, let her go,” Liam said, his voice even firmer. Felicity rolled her eyes. “Fine,” she said. “But none of this makes any sense to me.” “It’s really none of your business,” Liam said. “This is between Trista and me. And I won’t have you accusing her of anything anymore. It’s MY fault the children don’t know I’m their father. Not hers. Trista did what she had to do, and she made choices. Tough ones. But she always did what was best for Billy and Belle.” I was surprised that Liam was defending me like that in front of his mother, but it felt good knowing that he was on my side. “Whatever you said,” Felicity replied dismissively. She clearly realiz
