Zayne stood in the doorway, and the expression on his face made my blood run cold.

His eyes had gone completely dark, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle jumping. He looked between Gabriel and me for one long, agonizing moment—taking in Gabriel on my bed, his hand in my hair, our lips still pressed together.

Then without a single word, Zayne turned and walked away.

The sound of his footsteps retreating down the hallway snapped me out of my frozen state.

Rage exploded through me like wildfire. I shoved Gabriel away from me with every ounce of strength I possessed and punched him as hard as I could right in the face.

The satisfying crack of my fist connecting with his jaw sent him sprawling backward off the bed.

"You bastard!" I screamed, scrambling off the bed. "How dare you! How fucking dare you!"

But I didn't have time to say more. I had to get to Zayne. I had to explain before he—

I ran out of the room, my bare feet pounding against the wooden floor as I chased after hi

  • My Alpha, My Ruin   CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT

Amara's POVIt had been two days since Azumi called her boyfriend Marcus, and I was rapidly running out of patience. Two days of waiting. Two days of pacing endless circles around this safe house while Zayne suffered God knows what kind of torture at the hands of the Hunters. Two days of nightmares every time I managed to sleep, visions of him being hurt, being broken, calling out for me while I did nothing. Each day I spent without knowing how Zayne was, without being able to help him or even confirm he was still alive, felt like its own special kind of nightmare. A waking hell I couldn't escape no matter how hard I tried.Azumi kept assuring me that Marcus was working as fast as he could, that hacking into the Hunters' encrypted databases wasn't something that could be done quickly or carelessly. One wrong move and they'd detect the intrusion, lock down their systems, and we'd lose any chance of finding Zayne's location.I understood that logically. Intellectually, I knew she was ri

  • My Alpha, My Ruin   CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN

Zayne's POVPain. That was all I could feel anymore. Not the passage of time, not hunger or thirst, not even the cold stone floor beneath me—just pain, radiating through every nerve ending in my body like liquid fire.I'd lost count of how many days I'd been here. Three? Five? A week? Time had become meaningless in this windowless cell where the only light came from the torches mounted on the walls, their flames never seeming to diminish or burn out.The heavy iron door scraped open, and I didn't even have the energy to lift my head. I knew who it was. The same man who'd been coming every day—sometimes multiple times a day—to extract information I would never give him.Marcus Thornfield. Leader of the Hunters. The man who had raised me from childhood, trained me, molded me into the perfect weapon. The man I now hated more than anyone else in existence."Good morning, Zayne," he said cheerfully, his boots clicking against the stone as he walked into my cell. "Though I suppose you can't

  • My Alpha, My Ruin   CHAPTER SIXTY SIX

I was completely shocked, standing there in this impossible desert landscape staring at the woman who was the source of all my power, all my curse, all my destiny."Hello," I managed to say, my voice coming out smaller than I'd intended. "It's... it's an honor to meet you. I never thought this would be possible."The woman's smile widened, genuine warmth radiating from her. "It's really beautiful, meeting an Emerald Wolf before death finally claims them. And you, Amara—you've survived longer than any of the others did after manifesting their powers. That alone tells me you're different. Stronger. More determined."Her words should have been comforting, but instead they sent a chill down my spine. Before death? Was she saying I was still going to die despite everything? But I pushed that thought aside. There were more important questions demanding answers right now."What really happened?" I asked urgently, taking a step closer to her. "Why are they so intent on killing every Emerald W

  • My Alpha, My Ruin   CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE

Amara's POVIt was 5am in the morning and I was far too restless to even think about shutting my eyes. Sleep had been impossible throughout the entire night—every time I closed my eyes, I saw Zayne's face, heard his voice calling out to me from whatever hellhole the Hunters were keeping him in.Everyone else in the house was asleep. Just... calm and peaceful, as if the love of my life wasn't missing. As if they didn't care that he was probably being tortured right now while we did nothing.I knew that wasn't fair. I knew they all cared about Zayne, that they were doing everything they could to find him. But the rational part of my brain had been drowned out by grief and fear and overwhelming rage.I curled my fists so tightly my nails dug into my palms, drawing small crescents of blood. The anger bubbling inside me was almost overwhelming—hot and violent and demanding an outlet.I stood up from the bed where I'd been lying awake for hours and looked at the candles I'd lit around my ro

  • My Alpha, My Ruin   CHAPTER SIXTY FOUR

Amara's POVFrustration bubbled up inside me. "We have to find something tangible. Something concrete we can actually use. Get that file decrypted as soon as possible and let me know what's in it so we can start planning our next moves."Azumi nodded, her expression serious. "I'm on it. Actually, I have someone who could help us crack the encryption faster—someone with both magical and technological expertise."I frowned, suspicion immediately rising. After everything that had happened, after being manipulated and lied to, I wasn't ready to trust anyone new. "Can we trust this friend of yours? How do you know they won't betray us to the Hunters or the Alpha Supreme?""Yes, we can definitely trust them," Azumi said with absolute certainty. "I've known them for over three centuries, and t

  • My Alpha, My Ruin   CHAPTER SIXTY THREE

Amara's POVThere were roses everywhere—thousands of them in every shade of red imaginable, their petals soft and perfect, their fragrance filling the air with sweetness. In the middle of it all stood Zayne, grinning at me with that beautiful smile that made my heart skip a beat every single time. He was holding a massive bouquet of deep crimson roses, and his golden eyes were sparkling with love and mischief."Amara," he called out, his voice warm and full of affection. "Come here, baby. I have something for you."I started walking toward him, my heart swelling with joy and love so intense it almost hurt. This was perfect. He was perfect. Everything was perfect. But then his eyes widened suddenly, that gorgeous smile slipping from his face
