Lucy’s POV

Through out that night, I had barely slept. Every time I closed my eyes, I heard Adrian’s voice from our last conversation, how he had assured me it was ok to be nervous but what he didn’t know was it’s not about being nervous.

He had sounded hurt too when I told him I wanted to reject our bond. The words had come out of my mouth, but they had never reflected what I truly wanted.

I had been angry, frightened, and desperate to escape the mess surrounding us. My conversation with m

Lucy POV I left before the sun rose. The bag was already packed. I had checked it twice the night before. My hands did not shake when I pulled it from under the bed. I changed into the clothes I had set aside, tied my hair back, and slipped the silver pendant that would dulled my scent while I am away from this place, far away from home. My wolf was quiet. She had been quiet since Adrian left my room the night before. And I could feel the painful pull. My wolf struggled on the inside, trying to feel strong while the bond broke. She did not understand why we were moving. She only knew the bond was still there, thin and confused, pulling toward a man who was somewhere get away z I opened the door and listened. The hallway was empty. I walked the long way past the kitchen, the way I had written down, and found the service path still unlocked. No one stopped me. No one called my name. The night guards were distracted too and off their duty post. I had timed it. The bond pulled but

Lucy POV When we headed back to the villa, Adrian’s hand stayed at the small of my back the whole way, he handed me in a fragile way. He didn’t say much, and neither did I. My legs still felt unsteady as I thought drifted back to the chaos and my cheeks were warm whenever I remembered what had happened with Adrian, the man of my dreams. The bond was warm and satisfied, as if it had finally received something it had been missing for days. But my wolf was already asking for more. She wanted him closer. She wanted his hands on us again. She wanted to feel his lips against ours. She didn’t care that I had a bag packed under the bed and would be leaving soon. All she knew was that our mate had touched us and that wasn’t enough. I tried to push her wants down, but she wasn’t listening. When we reached the side entrance, Adrian slowed his steps. “You’re quiet,” he said. “I’m fine.” He turned to look at me. His eyes moved over my face, studying me as if he could read every thought i

Lucy’s POV The moment I read that message, my heart began to beat fast. Adrian arrived was back. I waited for him in my room, consumed by fear because I didn’t want the servants seeing us, and I certainly didn’t want Kane hearing that Adrian had returned before he expected him to. My hands were cold despite the warmth in the air. Then I saw him. He pushed open the door and walked toward me with tired steps, dust covering his boots and a streak of dried blood marking the sleeve of his jacket. His hair was messy, and exhaustion had settled around his eyes. But the moment he saw me, his expression changed. More like a relief. For a few seconds, I could not moved. I had imagined this moment countless times since our phone call. In some versions, I apologized immediately. In others, I asked him to take me away before anyone could stop us. But when he finally stood in front of me, every word disappeared. He reached for me. I stepped into his arms, and he pulled me against his chest

He had sounded hurt too when I told him I wanted to reject our bond. The words had come out of my mouth, but they had never reflected what I truly wanted. I had been angry, frightened, and desperate to escape the mess surrounding us. My conversation with my mother had only made everything worse. Still, none of that changed what I had said to him. The next day, my phone rang just after sunrise. It’s Adrian calling. I stared at his name on the screen, my thumb hovering over the answer button. Part of me wanted to ignore the call and pretend I had never seen it. Another part wanted to hear his voice so badly that my chest ached. In the end, I answered. “Hello?” “I’ve been trying to reach you but it didn’t connect.” He said. “How are you doing

Lucy POV I stayed in my mother’s room only long enough to hear the last of it. “You have little time, Lucy,” she said, but I was already standing. My legs felt unsteady under me. She didn’t try to stop me when I moved toward the door. Her hands stayed helpless, the same way they always did when Kane had already decided something and there was nothing left to say. “Little time,” she repeated as I reached it. “That is all you have. After that the elders will fully arrive and the ceremony begins whether you are ready or not.” I didn’t answer. I walked back to my room. The villa was quiet. Too quiet, all the preparations were almost done and the villa looked beautiful. My wolf kept shifting restlessly and hurt, reaching for a bond that still felt whole on her end. She didn’t understand why we were about to break it. She only knew the ache was already starting, low and sharp in my ribs, the same place the bond always pulled when he was far away. I sat on the edge of the bed and star

  • My Alpha Stepbrother’s Obsession   Chapter 33

Lucy POV I stayed pressed against the cold stone wall long after their footsteps faded. My chest felt tight. My fingers had gone numb where they gripped the edge of the archway. The Beta’s voice still rang in my ears, low and careful. Then Alpha Kane's voice couldn’t stop echoing in my head. Adrian is not to set foot near this villa again until the wedding with me and Lucy is finished. The realization hit me. The words kept turning over in my head. I tried to make them mean something else. A misunderstanding. A cruel joke. Anything except what they were. My wolf had gone completely still inside me. No pacing. No low growl. Just a heavy, stunned silence that felt worse than any sound she could have made. The mate bond pulled once, sudden and hurt, searching for him even though he was nowhere near the villa. I was getting married to my stepfather, not Adrain? I forced my legs to move. One step. Then another. The path back toward the main house blurred at the edges. I didn’t know
