Chapter Ten

Florian Pov

Beeps.

I smiled, picking up my phone to reply to Immy. We have been chatting nonstop since the lunch we had together. She is cool and doesn't ask weird questions.

We talked mostly about our interests and exchanged ideas and thought on some random stuff. In short , I feel good talking to her.

She is the second person I have texted for long after my mom.

IMMY

Dinner with me?

ME 

No, I can't, my mom will have my head. She values dinner with family these days. I am sorry. Can we have breakfast on Monday?

I have to say no because my mom insisted we; I mean her husband, her and me should have dinner together since Jethson refused to come home.

That day at the restaurant, he totally ignored me and I did the same. Thank God Immy didn't notice him, I don't want questions like why didn't you say hi to your brother.

IMMY

Well I am hurt. Yes we can do breakfast on Monday don't bail out on me, Florian.

I Chuckled as I read her reply, I stepped out of my room and head out to dining room for breakfast. I ran fast on the stairs walking to the seating area, I heard laughters and a familiar young male voice.

Jethson.

I walked into view and my eyes fell on Jethson. He is sitting on a dining chair with our parents.

Jethson turned, Our eyes met. His smile dropped like how my movement slowed. I stayed still at the end of the stairs.

“Florian, Come over here baby” My mom called, ushering to come over with her hands. Her words snapped me out of my trance, my heart beating faster I tried calming down so one will hear.

I walked up to the table, “Good morning mom” I mumbled, “Good morning Ned” I sat down two seats from Jethson.

“Good morning to you too Florian. How was your night son?” Ned replied, My mom also replied to my greetings.

“Good, I mean it was great” I smiled, I glanced at Jethson from the corner of my eyes. He is now typing on his phone ignoring my presence.

“Now that everyone is here let all eat” Ned smiled, as he proceeded to serve himself and we did the same.

I eat my food in silence while my mom and her husband discuss business again. Then suddenly Ned spoke, “Is there any thing going on why are you guys silent around yourself we expect you guys should have become best of friends”

Best of friends?

Jethson has more enemies than friends and we can never be friends.

Definitely not friends.

“Hmmm…we…” I stammered because I didn't even know what to say then Jethson chipped in.

“Come dad, we're cool. We spoke last night when I arrived.” Jethson lied.

A frown settled on Ned’s face, “I thought you went to bed early, Florian?”

Shit.

First I do go to bed really early and second I don't know when Jethson came into the house but I decided to lie either way.

“He woke me up then we chatted for a while” I said as I took a bite from my bacon, trying to cover up any slip up that might cost us.

“You shouldn't be worried about us, we all know how distant and quiet Florian can be. So no new thing” Jethson added with a laugh.

I frowned, Distant? Why did he get to talk about me like he knows me? My hands clenched. I wanted to say something too but I couldn't think.

“Boys enough, Let's eat.” my mom said, she turned to Ned “you can question them later”

Right after dinner I made an excuse that I have some assignments I need to get done so I went up to my room.

There the air won't be suffocating, I can't believe I kissed him in the first place? I have blamed the kiss on me being drugged.

And now I am standing in my room blaming the kiss on the drug.

It was later in the afternoon when I finally stepped out of my room when I saw Jethson leaving in his car. With my headphones in hand, a book and sunglasses I walked to the patio to read a book.

I settled on a chair and before I knew it I fell into a deep sleep. My eyes opened almost two hours late with a shadow blocking the sun.

When I opened my eyes, I was met with Jethson's face. I quickly sat up, “What are you doing here?”

“In my father's house?” 

“I mean why are you here? In patio and near me”

“Why can't I be here on the patio with you?’

“Because we agree to stay away from each other” I answered softly, his eyes roamed on me freely.

“You shouldn't wear shorts, you will get sunburn” Jethson said, ignoring my words.

I shook my head and stood up, “Playing older brother duties now? Don't worry you don't have to care about me. I am an adult” I turned to leave.

“Who is the girl with you at the restaurant?” Jethson asked. “Your girlfriend?”

“Why are you asking?” 

“Is she your girlfriend?” he slid his hands into his pockets.

What is his problem? Why can't he just stop taunting me 

“It is none of your business”

He didn't say anything for a while just to watch me, his gaze was so intense that I couldn't help but blush. My cheeks got so hot that I thought I might combust.

We were standing so close and my heart thumped against my chest, I could literally hear my wolf bemoaned.

Our gaze for a long time and my stomach churned like I was expecting more to happen.

“Should we talk about the kiss?” I asked hopefully.

What am I hoping for?

“No we shouldn't” he shook his head stepping away from me. “We shouldn't even speak of it again” He turned to walk away.

“Jethson” I called, 

I don't know why my heart breaks and why I

couldn't stop calling him.

“Jethson!” I yelled but he didn't wait or stop instead he hurried away.
