Chapter 20

I walked down a long corridor, the walls were made of bricks coloured in a light shade of grey, the floor was lined with the longest red mat I had ever seen. For as far as the eye could see, which wasn't very far as the only light was available came from silver from the candelabras which stood at least 6 foot tall each supporting at least 7 candles, not the average candles we can buy from a shop, but big chunky lopsided candles that looked like they were made by a 5yr old, they were the only form of lighting as I could tell. I walked further down the corridor taking in my surroundings. The windows had no glass in them, but were lined fine wooden detailing. The wall had to be over 20 feet high and tapered into an arch at its peak. In fascination I trailed my fingers over the walls as I walked.

Committing to memory the smoothness of the brick, mixed with the coarseness of the grout. The intricate detail of every carefully sculpted pillar, which seemed to tell a story of mystica
