CHAPTER 6
-Xavier
It didn’t take rocket science for me to figure out that Sierra is the dancer at the club. Just this morning, I researched in the werewolf databases for her, and nothing popped up but when I did deeper research using the information Ms. Veronica gave me about her –Sunny- I managed to get a lead on who she is in private. There was only one picture of her and it would be an underestimation for me to say she looked different from when she was at work- they looked like two completely different people from two completely different parts of the world.
All in all, I’m impressed, she’s quite the looker.
“Walter, let’s leave.”
“But I’m not yet done.”
He replied with his mouth half full of chocolate ice cream cake.
“Why did you follow me here, I thought I left you with work to finish back at the pack house.”
“I wanted to be your wingman, dude. You didn’t seem to be having luck with having a conversation with her anyway, she was scared to death the whole time.”
He had amusement in his tone as he ate another fork of his cake.
“Scared…”
“I mean, she looks like a complete cinnamon roll and you…you..”
“What?”
“You look intimidating, majorly on the side of some who doesn’t see you often.”
I leaned my chin on my fist and rested my elbow on the table. Never have I ever been able to properly decipher others’ emotions.
“Don’t be a frozen log, that’s the solution.” He said it as if he were talking to a five-year-old. If Walter hadn’t been a friend of mine and my uncle, I would have beat the shit out of him numerous times for treating me like an infant.
A three-thousand-year age gap is nothing to brag about but he seems to use that as an excuse each and every time.
Soon, the waiter came to collect our bill and used dishes. Walter paid and tipped him as I sat silently waiting for us to leave since I have no business here anymore.
We paced out of the ice cream shop and took a taxi out of the city and to a boutique that stood at the outskirts of the city.
We passed by the attendant who threw us a key. We proceeded to the back where there was a car waiting for us. It was a matte black Jeep.
Walter got in the driver’s seat as I strapped myself into the passenger’s seat.
He turned on the headlight and the trees parted forming a clear path for us. He revved the engine to life and sped through the forest.
This was another habit of his, he would always drive like it’s his last day on Earth.
Walter also had difficulties with his mate since she was from another pack and didn’t want to join this one but being the first Alpha to mate with a rogue is one helluva chore.
This is surely a problem that needs consultation from Sigma (the tutor/advisor of the pack)
Usually, rogues are werewolves who just discovered they’re werewolves and are probably lost. It’s not hard to find these new werewolves because they usually find a mate immediately they discover their abilities and their mate is a pre-existing werewolf. Sometimes, the Pack scouts bring in new recruits as well. They usually have an exceptional sense of smell so they can easily track other werewolves. They also live among humans most of the time.
Usually every eclipse, a new werewolf is found.
But the fact that she knows she’s a werewolf and seems to have known it for a while might mean she’s potentially dangerous.
Why?
In the history of werewolves, only about five werewolves were expelled by their packs for being unruly and that occurred a few thousand years ago. These werewolves attacked packs for a few years before disappearing but we aren’t too sure that they are gone.
I should probably talk to Helton, the Zeta (lead warrior) about that because, with my knowledge of what rogues could do, I wouldn't want a repeat of what happened two decades ago.
-Sierra
It took 1000 ounces of energy for me to resist him.
I sighed as I looked at the drenched piece of tissue in my hand.
Fuck, I got so wet. These urges are going to lead me sideways or mess up my brain. Just having his scent in the air, his eyes looking into mine, it gets me having tingly feelings and just like that I forget that a certain part between my legs was also getting affected.
Fuck biology!
I don’t even know if this is biology.
After we left, Courtney and I walked to a kid’s playground then went for lunch at a restaurant and that leads up to now where I’m in the restroom.
I pushed the door open and looked in the mirror. Why the fuck did my face look brighter? My blemishes disappeared too.
I slowly ran my fingers on my face and tilted my head to the side. I blinked twice too make sure I wasn’t hallucinating.
“Huh.” Maybe I really did need the sun more than I thought.
Thank you, Jesus for sunshine.
I washed my hands and y face then applied sunscreen just in case the sun gets too intense out there. By the time I got out of the restroom, Courtney was already eating the food they brought us.
I joined her and we indulged in small talk as we ate.
.
.
I got out and wrapped a towel around myself and one on my head to dry off my hair- it never really works.
Courtney had already finished brushing. She was just rinsing her toothbrush. "Good night little sis." I replied to her as she was walking out of my room. "Good night!" She shouted in the corridor so I could here .
In an hour's time, my alarm for work chimed and I decided to call my boss and call in sick for the next few days.
“Hello, Ms. Veronica.”
“Hello Sierra, what seems to be the issue?”
“I’ve come down with a…bad allergy and I might need a few days off.”
“Oh dear, sounds bad, you had a very important client today seems like I’ll have to cancel. Get well soon and when should I expect you back at work.”
Let’s see, maybe in three days, Xavier would’ve given up going there if I didn’t appear in three days…I hope.
“Three days miss.”
“Ok, get well soon.”
She hang up and I internally rejoiced. I retreated to bed happy that I can get a full night of sleep for the first time in a while since I started working there. Why didn't I think of calling in sick earlier?
-Xavier
I was standing at the front yard of Nighter’z club. There were a few people standing outside either chatting, leaving, or making out.
The loud secular music boomed through the air into my sensitive ears and the stench of this place hit my nose. It reeked of worry, sorrow, grief, stress, rage, anger, lust, stoicism, and everything that fell in that category. It was quite an unpleasant smell but what would I expect from a nightclub?
Usually, I’d be here about once or twice a month to pick up a hooker but yesterday, I just wanted drinks and ended up unravelling another chapter in my life ‘Mating.’
If you haven’t figured out yet, I’m not too fond of the concept of mating. According to werewolves, mating is when you give yourself to a destined partner and make a blood vow to share every single thing with them for eternity besides that, mating is important for Alphas and Lunas because it enables you to unlock a special ability that only you hold. That is the only reason I want a mate but the whole concept of giving myself to someone is unsettling.
I didn’t feel her presence or get her scent at all but nonetheless, I took calculated strides towards the entrance and was greeted by an uncomfortable warmth emitted from the number of people inside.
All sorts of brazen activities were happening before my eyes but I didn't pay them any heed knowing that I only came here to see one woman. I weaved through the crowd and went directly to Ms. Veronica’s office.
She welcomed me and I sat at the chair facing her desk.
She stood up to pour me wine but I spoke stopping her midway.
“I’m in a hurry today, just send her in.” I said and she sat back in the chair with a fake smile plastered on her face.
She sent a text on her phone and a about a minute later, the door opened and a lustful scent filled the air, slim fingers with beep red nail polish gently found their way to my shoulders. "Daddy, would you like to buy me a drink." she said revealing herself. She had black hair and brown eyes with deep red lipstick.
This wasn’t her and it pissed me the fuck off.
Although to the human eye, she was attractive she totally reeked. Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't sleep with her. "What the fuck is this, Veronica?" I said as I closed my eyes and clenched my jaw trying to calm down.
She scoffed and had a look of disbelief. "Your girl called in sick so she offered to substitute."
She crossed her hand in front of her chest and looked at me sternly.
I nudged the ladies’ fingers off my shoulders but she didn’t seem to get the message.
“Tell her to leave, I want my money back.”
I said with frustration but she continued sliding her fingers down my chest. I snapped. "You reek. I can't sleep with you even if I wanted to." I said through gritted teeth and she pulled her hand away from me and gasped in disbelief.
“She reeks? What the fuck are you-“ Before Ms. Veronica finished speaking, I slammed my hand on the table and repeated myself clearly.
“Send. Her. Out.” I dead panned and Ms. Veronica gestured for the lady to leave.
I heard the door open and close then glared at Ms. Veronica and I couldn’t help the patronizing smile spreading on my lips.
“Why do you always use that as an excuse?” she asked and swallowed saliva down her throat in fear trying to suppress the fear building up inside her.
“I have a sensitive nose, I don’t like it when they smell like that.” She was clearly confused by what I said. Little does she know, that’s the same reason I stopped sleeping with her.
I stood up and took relaxed steps towards the door and left.
She smart, she knew I’d return the next day so she called in sick. She might be a little more than a handful.
I smirked and walked out of the club heading back to the pack house.
By the time I arrived, It seemed quiet and only the shadow guards and the Etas (pack warriors) were up guarding the outside premises. They bowed slightly when they saw me and I acknowledged their greeting.
This woman has really already got me hooked on her and I'll constantly go there against my will just to see how long she plans on being 'sick.'
I was sleeping so soundly today, I felt so good sleeping from 9pm to noon. My peace was interrupted by a loud door slam. I groaned as I buried my face deep in my pillow. Just five more minutes, five more minutes of blissful sleep then you can disturb me. Small fingers poked my face and I opened my eyes to meet a smiling Courtney. "Wake up big sis, It's already noon."she ran to the curtains and drew them apart. I groaned because I had no other choice but to wake up. We did our usual morning routine and we went to the living room after breakfast. We indulged in a steamy game of cards. I had only useless cards in my hand but I wore the best poker face I possibly could. "Card!" she said as she placed the joker and rejoiced in victory. Seriously, my six-year-old sister is better than me at cards. "Another game?" she asked excitedly. "No, I'll lose." I already lost the last six games. Is there anyone in this world with luck worse than mine? No wonder I’m out there finding mates. "O
-Sierra Today was Friday and I happened to still be 'sick' so I was in bed binge-watching on N*****x. My bed was a mess, my hair was up in a bun and I was in pajamas. Although nothing ever seems as interesting to me these days, I insist on watching television to pass time. Just when I had found my comfortable position, Courtney opened my door and gave me a disappointed look. "I can't take this anymore, You've been doing nothing since Saturday. We need to take a walk to the Farmer's market now and get groceries, the fridge is half full," she said sternly and I felt compelled to do what she wanted me to because she was kinda right. My curtains aren’t open and my room is a mess. "I'm coming back in five minutes and you better be ready." she deadpanned and slammed the door. In fear of the six-year-old, I immediately got out of bed and scurried through my closet to get my hands on the nearest cloth. I put on whatever random bullshit my hands landed on and got a bundle of money then st
...........THE NEXT MORNING................. "Rwaar, I'm a bear and I'm taking over this territory," I said uninterestedly while waving my arms in the air playing super park ranger with Courtney. I was currently in a bear costume. She gave me a disappointed look. She was in a park ranger outfit. "Come on, Sierra more energy," she said and I rolled my eyes in disinterest but then continued to talk. "Sierra, could I be the flower girl at You and Xavier's wedding," she said and I opened my eyes now fuelled by anger. "I TOLD YOU I’M NOT MARRYING HIM!" I exclaimed and she started running with her hands in the air. "Aah, we need a brave and strong park ranger," she said and went behind the couch and put on a park ranger hat and scarf plus a fake mustache with straw in her mouth as she was holding a toy gun. It was her Halloween costume and the bear costume was mine. "DID ANYONE SAY THEY NEEDED A BRAVE AND STRONG PARK RANGER," she said trying to replicate a man's voice but she just soun
..............the next day......................... This is the last place I wanted to be at is what I wanted to say to Courtney as we sat on the park bench. "Courtney, are you sure you don't want to go to the zoo or beach?" I asked her trying to convince her. "No, I want to see Xavier, my prince." she said excitedly and I couldn't help but notice how excited and happy she was to meet that mother fucker. He insulted me yesterday yet he doesn't know a damn thing about me. Honestly, for the first time in a long time, I actually felt hurt by words. Could it be because he is my mate? I swayed my head from side to side and looked to the sky trying to get the thoughts of him out of my mind. "Xavier!" Courtney exclaimed and I got scared as I looked where she was running to and saw familiar blue eyes and dark hair.
CHAPTER 10 “Xavier..” I couldn’t form a sentence. I heard him let out a low growl from his throat and felt butterflies erupt in my stomach. “Say that again, I liked it.” His deep voice rang in my ears as his hand went under my shirt and onto my bare waist. I couldn’t think now, my mind was clouded. “Xavier,” I repeated as told and he sucked on the skin on my neck before replying. “Good girl.” He gently turned me so I was on my back. He wasn’t in the mask anymore but I couldn’t get a proper look at his face. All I could see was his bright eyes looking directly into mine My hand found its way to his cheek then my thumb caressed his bottom lip. He held my hand that was on his cheek and kissed my palm as he looked me straight in the eye. “I need your confirmation. Do you want to?” he said looking directly into my eyes. God, I wanted to, so bad. My body was burning. “Yes,” I said and he let out a low chuckle as he buried his head in my neck kissing and sucking the skin leaving fla
"Finally, you made up." Courtney said suddenly and I smiled awkwardly as I scratched the back of my neck. "I thought you went to play with your friends." I said quickly changing the topic. "I was but I saw you two looking like you were about to leave so I rushed over." she said looking from me to Xavier. "No, we were not." I protested and she shrugged her shoulders and walked off. I sighed. "So, can I have your contact?" Xavier asked sternly as if no wasn’t an option. It didn’t even sound like a question. I cringed. “Fuck no.” I said loud enough for him to here. I response, he leaned to whisper in my ear and spoke. “Would you rather I get it from somewhere else?” he said in a slight whisper and I felt my insides start to boil. Who the fuck does he think he is? He pulled back and didn’t have a change in expression or maybe that mask was hiding his possibly hideous smile. I held out my hand and he placed his phone on it. ‘You win this time jerk, next time, you’ll see.’ I typed in
CHAPTER 12. “What the….” I was blank-faced in the middle of a huge ass apartment. It looked much more expensive than mine and mine wasn’t even cheap, to begin with. The floor was actually fuckin marble, the ceiling had such intricate and intimate designs. The chandelier wasn’t like anything I’d ever seen, it was designed so well that it mimicked an ocean wave. I looked at Xavier who took off his coat already and remained in a tight black long-sleeved shirt. It brought out all his muscles so I decided to not glue my eyes on them. “Xavier…so you’re saying, you’re going to lease me or something?” I asked and he thought for three seconds before answering. “Yes, technically. For the next week, you’re going to be mine.” Silence stretched…how about Courtney. He turned to face me and raised an eyebrow then fished his phone from his pocket. “Since you work for Xavier Kingston now, as your legal boss. You must follow my rules.” I could tell he was not doing anything to do with this topic
CHAPTER 13 I stood in front of the sink trying to think and figure out a way out of this without embarrassing myself. My purse! Yes, my purse must have something- and I left it outside the bathroom, in the living room. I heard a knock on the door and my heartbeat accelerated. It’s Xavier. “Are you okay?” he asked. “Ah…yeah, I’m fine..” Just tell him bitch. It’ll be too embarrassing. “No, you’re not. What is the problem?” My heart calmed down at his words and I decided to let go of my pride. “I...I started my period.” There was silence. Is he the type of guy to be grossed out by periods? “10 minutes, I’ll be back.” -Xavier I hurriedly strutted into a convenience store next to the apartment building. All heads turned in my direction but I couldn’t care less. I looked through the isles until I landed on the women’s sanitary tools part. There was an attendant seated at the corner. Immediately h
