I floored the gas pedal, the car lurching forward as I tore out of Lily’s dorm parking lot. I drove through Eugene like I was being chased by something with teeth, taking corners too fast and running yellow lights that had already turned red by the time I cleared the intersection.

My hands were gripping the steering wheel hard enough that my knuckles had gone white, and I could feel my wolf pacing restlessly under my skin, agitated by everything that had happened in the past twenty-four hours.

I swerved around a slow-moving sedan, ignoring the honk that followed.
