"Please do not be mad at me, Sadie. I did not enter the wrong room on purpose. We have already slept together. Please marry into the Dragon Clan on my behalf instead.

"You'll be happy for us, right?"

I shook my head to clear the dizziness. When my sight cleared, I saw Lucia Quentin crouching in front of me while wiping her tears demurely.

My father tried to talk me into it as well.

"You should exchange companions, Sadie. Lucia is still young. Don't hold this against her."

I was the daughter of my father and his legitimate wife. Lucia was an illegitimate daughter he had with an old lover, but she had a nice face, and she knew how to get into another's good graces with her soft, demure manner. He had always loved her more.

Instead, I took a deep breath and smiled.

"I would never break a happy couple apart." Lucia was so taken aback by my answer that she almost forgot to wipe away her tears.

My father took the opportunity to push things forward. "Sadie has relented, Lucia."

She stood up with a smile. "Thank you."

Lucia ran off to see Silas after that.

"That girl is still such a child." My father looked relieved, but he paused when he saw my emotionless expression. He lowered his voice and tried to give me advice.

"Sadie, you're only left with choosing Silver Dragon Ebrin Lance and Black Dragon Liam Thorn. The Silver Dragon has an abundance of fortune and is good-looking. He is a much better candidate than the Black Dragon. Lucia used to say…"

"Liam Thorn is my choice."

I interrupted my father.

He was taken aback. I said calmly, "I'm willing to marry Black Dragon Liam Thorn."

No woman with Blessings from the Human Clan has chosen a Black Dragon as their companion for the past thousands of years since the alliance of the three clans and given birth to a perfect descendant who inherited all its powers.
