Enora
I found my hands shaking. My tongue was tied as I stared into the beautiful brown eyes of this man towering in front of me. He wanted more. He really wanted more. This had to be some kind of dream, an illusion. He stepped away from me, and I was finally released from my daze and looked at his watch. “I suppose we should get going. I wouldn’t like to be late for my meeting with Mr. Gonman.” I didn’t find words to say and settled on a nod. I turned heel to leave his room and felt him grab my arm. My heart skipped another dangerous beat and my blood pressure sky-rocketed. This was all too much on my second day. “Think about what I said, Enora. As a businessman, I don’t like my proposals pending for too long.” He let go of me and walked past me, his broad shoulders brushing me lightly as he left the room. My body around this man always went haywire. I thought he thought me to be clutz and now he was asking for more. No. This wasn’t the right time to wrap my head around this. This was just my first day on the job. I couldn’t… “Enora!” His voice yelled my name, and I hurried to join him in the living room where he had been waiting for me. I was so embarrassed. My face was the same shade of red on my red-bottom shoes. His eyes bared down on me and his aura weakened me at my knees. I wanted to apologize but my tongue stuck to the roof of my mouth. I couldn’t explain my relief when he said nothing, and I quietly followed him out of the room. I had to take a deep breath and clear my head. I had to be professional and no one mixes work and pleasure, even if the pleasure seemed more appealing than the work and the boss looked like the hottest thing since the creation of fire. We got to the elevator and I was grateful for the silence between us. I kept my eyes fixed on the floor and only used my ears to listen for the light ping of the elevator once we reached the ground floor. As I walked beside Mr. Wright with my head lowered, avoiding his gaze, my mind created images, nasty images. I gulped and felt a bead of sweat appear on my forehead. By the time we got into the car, I was jittery and sweaty and it was autumn. I was just the worst. I embarrassed myself and… “Miss Lopez…” I raised my head at the sound of my name and was in an immediate panic. What was with the name change? From Miss Lopez to Enora and now, back to Miss Lopez. Was I in trouble? Was I getting fired? “...clear my schedule for the rest of the day. I want my meeting with Mr, Gonman to be the last one. I’ll call the other clients and arrange new dates and have you put them on my calendar.” “Yes, sir.” I exhaled and felt my mind fix a few gears. At least I would have some work to get my mind off this crazy day. I hoped Mr. Gonman was an interesting client. I wouldn’t like to sit through the meeting and only be able to concentrate on my sexy boss. ~~~ “Mr. Wright, your proposal seems a bit lofty. You seem to have a lot of confidence with market prediction.” Mr. Gonman picked up the paper in front of him and looked at it again. He wasn’t as entertaining as Ms. Patel, but he made up for it with a quirky appearance. His half-moon glasses seemed to come straight out of a magical book, and his voice was a weird mesh of French and Russian. Who speaks like that? He looked at the paper harder and longer, taking his glasses off, wiping them, and putting them back on as if that would change the figures on the paper before him. Mr. Wright simply sat calmly and allowed him to take his time. Even in his silence, he seemed to command the room and his aura swallowed up everyone else’s without even trying. “Your predictions are very bold, Mr. Wright. Almost unbelievable, if I might say, and I do not believe that such outrageous predictions will ever come to fulfillment and my company would suffer. Gate Industries must thrive, and this doesn’t seem to fulfill my goals.” He passed the paper back to Mr. Wright who simply chuckled and took the paper back. This was the first time I had ever seen him laugh. I didn’t see what was amusing. But then again, what did I know? This was business that was way beyond me. “I understand that you have some concerns, Mr. Gonman, and I acknowledge that you are simply doing your best to make sure Gate Industries thrives.-” He set the paper down and slid it back to Mr. Gonman, who looked quite confused. “- I understand that you believe my predictions are outlandish but they make perfect sense considering the increase in the value of cryptocurrencies and the apparent volatility of that market.” He crossed his fingers and leaned forward. My breathing hitched as I watched him with a mixture of lust, hunger, and admiration. This was Mr. Wright in his domain, his habitat, and he took charge of it in the most alluring way. All he was doing was talking, and my body seemed already surrendered to him. “I understand that you are a very proper businessman and very rooted in the classical ways of doing business. My predictions are very much in line with the present-day market, and I believe that teaming up with me will give your company a larger insight into the fast-paced business world while you can still keep your classical norms and ideals. Mind you, I am also aligning my businesses according to these predictions and if they fail, I too will be at a loss…” He leaned back into his chair and took a deep breath. His eyes darkened, and he looked at Mr. Gonman with an intimidating air of authority. I wanted him to look at me with those kind of eyes. “...Do you think that I would want to put my own company in a position to lose profit?” There was a thick silence in the room, broken only by the squeaking noise Mr. Gonaman made as he wiped his glasses. He put them back on and sighed. “I suppose not, Mr. Wright…”Enora:The kids began to run around the house, screaming at the top of their lungs. I laughed as they chased each other, screaming and toppling over like little dominoes on legs. It had been about three years, and every time I remember those three years, I was filled with so much pain and agony, but there were some rays of hope. I stopped typing and admired the ring on my finger. A beautiful red garnet that had Sapphires and Diamonds around it. It still dazzled me even though I had worn it for three years. Soon, a car pulled into the driveway, and all the kids stopped their laughter and ran to the door, pressing their faces up against the window.“Daddy,” they all said in unison, watching him through the frosted glass, still not tall enough to see through the clear one. It had been three years, and I was still so happy to see Nathan when he came back from work, but now, I had the kids to rival with. The handle turned, and just before he could put his leg through the door, they swa
Nathan:I headed back to the police station with a new worry in mind. My hands trembled, and my breathing was fast and ragged. My phone was buzzing in my hand, and on the screen, I saw a text from Ross.“We have Bridget's. She is in the questioning room waiting for you.”I swallowed hard and stuffed my phone back into my pocket. Reading the message over and over again gave me butterflies, nervous butterflies in my tummy. What I was going to do was simple. Bridget only had to tell me that she wasn't directly involved in Dakota's plans and everything was going to be all right. I just wanted to know that she had no hand in killing my baby. I knew what it was, Dakota, and all I wanted to do was pin this on her. I didn't want to bring Bridget into any more drama. She had been involved in enough.I got to the police station and headed to room 47B, the room Ross had kept Bridget in. Each step there made me tremble. I even had to stop halfway just to catch my breath and reassure myself everyt
Nathan:I left the office, trying my best to put on my brave face.“RoseVine hospital,” I told the driver, even though I didn't need to.He stepped on the gas as soon as he sped down the road towards the hospital.I couldn't lie, my mind was still oscillating, still worried, but one thought made everything worth it. The thought of Enora, sitting up with a smile on her face, waiting for me and our baby, safe and sound. Our baby? I only hoped that it was okay. She was bleeding between her legs, and for a pregnant woman, that was never a good sign.It didn't take long before we got to the hospital, and I got out, each step closer, making my heart race even faster by trying my best to keep my cool. I walked up to the receptionist, and she looked up, remembering me from a few hours ago.“I'm here to see Miss Enora Lopez,” I said, trying my best not to stutter my words, no matter how nervous I was.“I see, but the doctors are still attending to her, and you can't see her right now. I sugg
Nathan:I was asked to stay there with Jasper and... Jasper while Ross and his officers went to the front desk to pull up the files. The first Jasper, from my office, was horrified and furious.Even if his wrists weren't cuffed, he would definitely have punched this other Jasper in the face.On the contrary, the other Jasper was quiet. Sitting by himself, eyes lowered, fingers interlocked with each other, unwilling to breathe even a word.I tried to get a good look at his face, but he refused to lift his head.So much was going on, and I had no idea what to do about any of it.It took several minutes before Ross and the other two officers showed up.“We pulled up their files, but it turns out that both of them have identical files and documents.”“This is identity theft!” Jasper yelled out, almost lunging from his chair towards the other Jasper, but the two officers held him down. “They cannot be someone who looks exactly like me, has the same name as me and has all the same credentia
Nathan:I scooped Enora in my arms, her blood staining my suit, but I didn't care. I placed my ear on her chest, my fingers trembling against his skin. Her heart was beating very faintly, and she was barely breathing. My phone buzzed in my pocket, and with one hand, I was able to fish it out. It was a text from the chief investigator.“The DNA that we found belongs to a certain Jasper who is said to be working at your office.”My jaw dropped. It all made sense now. Dakota was the one who was masterminding the raids on my warehouses, and she was using Jasper to get her dirty work done.I glared at him, but he looked just as pale as I was, but Dakota didn't even budge, turning her head the other way and playing Candy Crush on her phone.I rushed out of my office to the lobby. People gasped seeing me with Enora bleeding in my arms.“Make sure that the manager, Jasper, doesn't leave this place,” I instructed the security guards before I carried Enora into the car and zoomed off.Her skin
Enora:I was happy that I was going to be able to get ready to go to work with Nathan this time around. The past few days, going alone was such a bummer, and it was refreshing to finally be able to button up his shirt in the morning without feeling sad that he was leaving me again.I stood by the door waiting for him, my feet moving. I just couldn't keep still; I was just so excited. It didn't take long before he joined me, put his arms around me, pulled me close and kissed me on my forehead.“Someone is looking very excited,” he teased, tapping my nose, and I blushed a cute pink.“Why wouldn't I be excited?’ I asked. “Do you know how much I have missed going to work with you?”He bent down and kissed me softly on the lips, and I leaned into him, enjoying the taste of breakfast on his lips.“I miss going to work with you, too,” he said softly. The driver was waiting for us outside with the car door open. We got in, holding hands and looking so in love. Today was supposed to be the day
