I drove quietly while Kiara continued to pretend to be asleep. I wanted to say something to her but, over the years of knowing her, I knew she wouldn't want to talk at the moment. "Are you going to stay over tonight?" I asked as we drove to my house. We have been chit-chatting on and off since I drove out of Cave Cream's car park. The random pop song acted as a filler for the silence. "I'm not sure yet. If it's too late then yes," she replied as she held her hand outside the window. The silence that followed mum's whole manifestation spiel was odd, to say the least. Perhaps though, that was just the way I perceived it.
