Cassy

It was my first day as an intern. Excitement rubbed with anger filled my being as I prepared for my first big day. I didn't let anything distort my thoughts, not even thoughts about Drake. I stood there in front of the mirror, admiring myself. I smiled for a while before I walked out of the room.

"Good morning, Cassy." Drake greeted, and I nodded in response to his greetings. Last night was a disaster, and I just didn't want to think about it, but being in his presence makes all the memories flood my mind.

"It's your big day. Your first day as an intern." Why was he trying to hold a conversation with me? His job was to protect me, and he was already doing that. There was no reason to hold any conversation with me. I was silent for a while, trying to focus on what was ahead of me. How I was going to answer the questions that would be thrown at me.

"I guess you are too excited and anxious at the same time. Trust me, that was the exact feeling I got when I applied for my first job. It's practically the same thing." I finally tilted my head to look at him after avoiding his gaze for the last fifteen minutes.

"Except for the fact that I didn't apply for this one, my father got it for me." He raised one of his eyebrows, and I looked away from him. His eyes were fixed on me as the silence continued.

"Your father is trying to make you happy by easily giving you a normal life. I don't know if you understand what I am trying to say...." I didn't let him finish what he was saying before I cut him short.

"Yeah, I understand that. Now, if you remain quiet and focus on the road, I would like to focus on my day ahead and try to make it the best. It's my big day, I don't want to mess up when I am being interviewed." I noticed the slight chuckle at what I said. I heaved a sigh as I continued to scroll through my tab.

"You really think that you are going to be questioned? Do you think you are going to go through the process of a normal intern? Do you know who your father is..." At this point, I was frustrated. Why wouldn't he just stop talking and drive?

"I am an intern, and I have to be treated as one. Please, I really need to focus. You should do your job while I do mine." He didn't wait for me to finish what I was saying before he continued talking.

"Look, I am just trying to be on your good side. I mean, how else are we supposed to function correctly if we are not on good terms?" He asked, and I forced a smile as I tilted my head to look at him. He was more of a frustrated smile, and he exhaled rapidly.

"Why can't you just stay quiet and drive? We are talking, aren't we? The fact that you chose to be professional should not make us close friends. You don't need to try to make me smile or laugh. Your job is to protect me and nothing else. So I suggest you keep to your part of the job. I think it's better we keep it that way. Only talk to me when I ask you questions and when it's very important. Otherwise, I would love you to keep your opinions to yourself." I finally ended my speech, and all he did was nod his head slowly as if he were trying to come to terms with what I had just said.

The rest of the trip was silent as I wished. He drove into the parking lot, and I hopped out of the car. I was excited for what was ahead of me, but then the excitement faded slowly as I recalled his words on our way here. Was I going to be treated specially because of my father's status, or was I going to be treated like a regular intern? I really hoped it was the latter and not the former.

I walked slowly through the automated door into the building. Drake walked behind me, but I didn't mind. I assumed his absence and walked straight to the reception. I smiled at the lady, and she immediately stood up from her chair and bowed slightly to greet me with a grin on her face.

"You must be the new...." Drake interrupted her, and she was forced to stop talking.

"Executive member." He said quickly, and the lady nodded. I shook my head, unsatisfied with how he introduced me. That was not what I was here to be.

"Intern. I am the new intern." I said rapidly, trying to maintain a normal look. I avoided his gaze even though I knew he was trying to get me to look at him.

"I will take you to the Director, right away ma'am." She said as she hurriedly left her space. She walked steadily while constantly tilting her head to look at me with a smile on her face. They must have been told about me. About my father, and perhaps that was why she was being like this.

"What did I tell you about meddling in my affairs?" I asked in a low tone, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Nothing! You didn't say anything about that." I knew he was trying to get words out of me.

"Do your job and stay out of my business," I said sternly in a low tone. I was certain that the look on my face matched the stern voice, too.

"You are welcome to our company. I hope you enjoy your stay here." She said in a low tone as we came to a halt in front of a door. The tag on the door read Director. She walked away from me. Drake knocked on the door, and I gave him a fierce look.

"Welcome!" I heard a thick voice from inside the office.

CassyAside from the fact that Drake was being annoying, I was feeling anxious as well. I walked into the office, and Drake tried to walk in with me, but I didn't like the idea. I turned around, facing him."You can wait outside. I got this." I said in a low tone. He hesitated for a while as his eyes continuously darted between me and the director. After a while, he exhaled heavily, looking me deep in the eyes before talking."I will be outside." He murmured but I heard what he said. I gave him a nod and he walked out of the office, shutting the door behind him. I heaved a heavy sigh as I turned back to face the director to greet him properly."I am sorry about that director. My name is ...." He didn't let me finish what I was saying before he completed it on my behalf. "Cassandra Orlov. You will be a manager in the company. Your father and I spent ample time talking about you and your recent achievements in college. That's why you...." I had no patience to wait for him to finish wh

Drake"So tell me!" Her voice suddenly echoed, jolting me from my reverie. For a moment, I was sinking deep into my thoughts. I tried to know what her thoughts were but each time that I was closer to getting a clue, I came up with nothing. I looked at her briefly and just when I wanted to talk, she started to talk."I was curious, " I said, puzzled. What could she be curious about? "Do you have someone in your life? Like, are you in a relationship?" I chuckled slightly. That question was quite unexpected. I quickly gathered my thoughts."Why did you ask? Why are you curious about it?" I asked in a low tone, tilting my head back to look at her as she said nothing. She smirked. What was going on? All of a sudden, she changed, started acting, and was a whole different person. "I don't understand. I have the right to know every detail of who is on my payroll. Plus, I want to know your reason." She talked slowly like she was counting her words as they escaped her lips. There was a moment

CassyThe sun gradually dimmed, covered with clouds and the sky became unclear. That was an indication that it was about to rain. I moved away from the window back to the centre of the room. As I walked, I noticed a door in the corner of my room. I made a scrunching face, surprised as I walked closer to the door, wondering where it led. I placed my hands on the doorknob and just as I was about to open the door, a knock came on the door and I was jolted back to reality. I walked back to the centre of the room before I responded."Come in!" The door opened immediately, revealing Drake as he stood there with a pale look. I didn't know what he came for. He walked in slowly and jammed it."I want to have a word with you." He said, and I raised my eyebrows in surprise. What could it be that he wanted to talk about? I signalled that he sit down, but he shook his head, rejecting the offer."What is it that you want to talk about?" My voice was barely above a whisper, grunting as I tried to si

CassyInternships had always been something I wanted to try out. I mean, what was the need to spend all those years in school just to end up caged in the house as if I were the most important person in the world. I understood that my father was trying to be a dad after he left us all these years but he needed to understand that it could not happen by restricting me to the walls of the house like a prisoner. As we drew closer to our destination, I could not help but feel excited, but the thought of him staying with me and even sharing the same condo always cut my excitement short. He sat there across from my chair in my father's private jet. Each time I tilted my head towards his direction, his eyes were always on me. I only wondered what was going through his mind the whole time. Finally, the announcement came from the pilot that it was time for landing. He cleared his throat to break the long silence and I was jolted back to reality."You need to buckle yourself and prepare for lan

  • My Bodyguard and Me    Chapter Six

Cassy "Satisfying!" The first real word that came out of my mouth was after a tense moment of playing with myself. I could not help but chuckle lightly as my own voice reverberated in my mind. A thought suddenly crept into my mind in the middle of recalling what I had just done."Going to live with him. Sharing a condo with him wasn't a good idea. It was only going to worsen the feelings. The attraction and need for me to get in bed with him." I let out a heavy breath as I tried not to think about it. I knew it was almost impossible to talk my father out of the idea of allowing Drake to go with me. I became confused. Even if it was going to be really uncomfortable staying with him, I still preferred him over anybody else. Wild thoughts filled my mind and I just could not help but turn to the other side of the bed, hoping to sleep away all the bugging thoughts. Each time that I closed my eyes, the only things I saw were his images. How perfectly shaped he was, his pointed nose and s
