Chapter 5
"Oh, by the way, Marco, there's a bee house there. Can you accompany me to check it?" the Señora asked, and they disappeared in front of us, leaving the Señorito and me.
I didn't know what to do or say when it was just the two of us and they left. So I decided to stand up from where I was and look at the floor.
Urgh! It's too awkward! I'm not the only one working on the ranch. Why didn't they choose someone else? But if I think about it, Marco and I are the only young ones, and most of the others are older, like Mom and Dad, and there are more male workers here.
"Are you still thinking about yesterday?" I heard the Señorito speak after a few minutes. I slowly raised my head and looked at him. Our gazes met once again. I couldn't bring myself to look away because it felt like his eyes had some kind of magnet!
He slowly walked closer to me, and I couldn't escape the scent of his intoxicating cologne! You know the feeling when you just want to embrace someone because they smell so good? That's what I felt now.
I clenched my fist and averted my gaze, but I was surprised by what he did next. He held my chin to lift my face and make our eyes meet again.
"Señorito," I called him softly. What does he want? Why is he doing this? I'm so nervous because I'm not used to this. Even Marco doesn't do this to me. In such close proximity, I could even smell his minty breath.
"Baby, remember this, you're too young for me, and what I saw the other day was nothing." Then he let go of my chin and took a step back to create some distance between us.
Tears welled up in my eyes upon hearing his words, and I tried my best to swallow them back, but my eyes betrayed me because I'm easily moved to tears. So, despite my efforts, tears still fell while he was looking at me.
He wouldn't understand because he's a man, and I'm a woman! I don't have any experience, so he shouldn't say that it's not a big deal! He should be more sensitive, especially since he said that I'm young!
He's handsome, but his attitude is terrible!
"Why are you frowning?" Clara asked me. I turned my head towards her from my sitting position while watching her approach. Sigh.
"It's as if the world has crashed down on you, huh? What happened?" she asked, coming closer to me. I decided to walk towards Julia's stable with the other horses because...
"Uhm, do you have any other instructions, Señorito?" I politely asked him, despite my sour mood. He was still busy with his cellphone, and I was hoping he would lift his gaze when he answered my question. So, I waited, but he just shook his head.
I kept staring at him for a few more minutes, hoping he would at least lift his gaze, but he didn't, so I realized that he probably didn't expect me to stay in my spot.
"You can go for now; I'll call if you I need something you have to do for me." After saying that, he swiveled his chair towards the glass wall, where they could see their vast land.
I bit my lower lip and then reluctantly left the library, where the Señorito's office was. I didn't realize it, but I was already walking towards Julia's stable and the other horses.
"I'm not hungry, just feeling a bit down," I replied. Clara nodded, and then she changed the topic.
"The gang is planning to go to the town fiesta tonight! They told me to bring you along once we're done here at the hacienda."
"I can come; I just need to ask permission from my dad—" But before I could continue, she interrupted me.
"You've used that excuse too many times! I've lost count of how many times you've said it but never showed up! Lena never joins our outings!"
"Take care and don't stay out too late." That's what my mom often says when I'm going somewhere.
"Alright, I haven't seen the other girls in a while! I miss them, but let me ask permission from the Señorito first before we leave later, just to make sure he doesn't have any tasks for me."
"Can I come too?" Clara said excitedly. "I want to see him too!" Is it just my imagination, or did her eyes sparkle while mentioning the Señorito? Sigh.
For sure she'll give me a cold look if I say anything negative about the Señorito.
"Uhm, sure." I gave an unsure response, but I couldn't recall the Señorito instructing me not to bring any of the housemaids along when I visit him at the Hacienda, so I think it should be fine.
"Why are you frowning?" Clara asked me. I turned to her from my seat and watched her walk towards me. Sigh.
"It's as if the world has crashed down on you, huh? What happened?" She came closer to me. I decided to head to the stable where the horses were because...
"Uhm, do you have any other instructions?" I asked politely, even though I felt my mood souring from what she said. She was busy with her cellphone, and I was still hoping she would lift her gaze when she answered my question, so I waited. However, she just shook her head.
I continued to stare at her for a few more minutes, hoping she would at least meet my gaze, but she didn't, and eventually, it seemed like she realized that I wasn't moving from my spot.
"You can go for now; I'll call if you I need something you have to do for me." After saying that, she swiveled her chair towards the glass wall, where they could see their vast land.
I bit my lower lip and reluctantly left the library, where the Señorito's office was. I didn't even realize that I had already started walking towards Julia's stable and the other horses.
"I'm not hungry, just feeling a bit down," I replied. Clara nodded, and then she changed the topic.
Chapter 6"The gang is planning to go to the town fiesta tonight! They told me to bring you along once we're done here at the hacienda.""I can come; I just need to ask permission from my dad—" But before I could continue, she interrupted me."You've used that excuse too many times! I've lost count of how many times you've said it but never showed up! Lena never joins our outings!""But I'm worried that Mom will be concerned if I don't ask permission." We don't even have cellphones to message each other."I already mentioned it; I bumped into Aling Saling, and she agreed!" My eyes widened."Really?" I couldn't believe it and asked her again. She nodded in response."Yes, that's why you don't need to panic anymore. Aling Saling even said..." She mimicked my mom's voice. Sigh."Take care and don't stay out too late." That's what my mom often says when I'm going somewhere.Clara and I chatted for a while before deciding to return to the mansion to ask permission from the Señorito if I co
Chapter 7I don't know if it's just my imagination, but this feels like the longest ride to the town. As far as I remember, it only takes about twenty minutes to reach the town using Mang John's farm truck, but why does it feel so long now that we're riding the Señorito's luxurious car?"They said they're waiting near the fountain in the middle of the plaza," Clara whispered to me. I suddenly wondered if there was a parking lot for the Señorito."Where do you think the Señorito will park?" I quietly responded to her. "It's a fiesta in town, so the parking lots might be full. I don't really know where else the Señorito can park." When I looked ahead of us, Clara and I saw that the Señorito was busy looking for a parking space. From inside the window, I could see that the parking lots were indeed full. "Kia keeps messaging, asking where we are," Clara said again. "Tell her we're here, just looking for parking for the Señorito." Clara leaned closer to me, and she whispered, "They're gett
Chapter 8It was only then that I realized that we were still holding hands, but it wasn't just a casual hand-holding. We were doing the theme of holding hands while walking. My eyes widened, and my whole face grew warm with embarrassment!I quickly pulled my hand away from the Señorito's hand and distanced myself slightly from him, overwhelmed by embarrassment."I-I'm sorry, Señorito!" It was only now that I understood why our friends were looking at us that way."I-I was just excited to see you..." I averted my gaze from the Señorito and continued what I wanted to say."I didn't realize that I was already holding your hand, Señorito. I'm sorry." I stammered, and my eyes took on a more masculine look when the Señorito took his hand out of his pocket and gently patted my head.My lower lip trembled, and I felt my whole face grow even warmer with what the Señorito did, while he stared directly into my eyes.Urgh! What are these weird feelings I'm experiencing? Why am I only realizing t
Chapter 9"I want this, this, and this." His eyes widened as he pointed to the fishballs, kikiam, and chicken balls."Alright, I'll get them for you, Señorito." I happily responded and used the stick I was holding to skewer a piece of fishball. Just like what I did with the kwek-kwek, I blew on it first and then dipped it in the sauce provided by the vendor before offering it to the Señorito, taking it straight from the frying pan.As I enjoyed feeding the Señorito, I completely forgot that we had been separated from our friends."They're so sweet together.""I wish everyone would feed each other, even if it's just with fishballs, it's a date.""Ate is so lucky, Kuya only has eyes for her. I hope I find a guy like that, who only looks at me even with all those girls trying to get his attention.""I hope you find someone like that too." They laughed subtly, and I discreetly glanced at the group next to us. I wondered who they were talking about, but my eyebrows furrowed when I saw them
Chapter 10As we continued walking, I didn't realize that we had already arrived at the park. There were only a few people around, mostly couples. The night lights hanging on the trees were lit, creating a romantic ambiance. We kept walking until we found an empty bench. It was perfect because we had been walking for quite some time, so I suggested that we sit down."Señorito, let's stay here for a while." I instinctively pulled the Señorito towards the bench, and luckily, he followed, holding my hand as we walked. When I saw myself and the Señorito sitting on the bench, I didn't notice that we were sitting so close together. We spent a few minutes just staring at the dark water of the lake in the park. My feet no longer hurt, so I thought about asking the Señorito if we should go home if we couldn't find Clara. He was slightly squinting his eyes because of the lights, so I closed my eyes a bit to avoid being blinded. My eyebrows furrowed when I noticed that the Señorito seemed preocc
Chapter 11It was wrong of me to think that he noticed something strange about me, but from the way he looked at me, it felt like he could read my mind! But then..."We planned to go home, but there's no school tomorrow, and Uncle Ceasar had some lambanog to give away! It would be a waste if we didn't drink it!" Xhea said, and she was the one who walked closer to where the Señorito and I were sitting, causing Marco to pause in his steps, but he remained standing, intense in his gaze towards me."Come on, Lena, join us and the Señorito for a fun drinking session!" Clara chimed in."Have you tasted lambanog, Señorito?" Miggy asked."Not yet. I also don't know what that is," the Señorito replied to Miggy's question."Maybe you should experience being a rich kid like us," Kia teased."Kia," I interjected, scolding her because the Señorito might think I was being sarcastic."I know, so you'll have an idea of what lambanog is, Señorito. Come join us for the drinking session!" Kia bantered a
Chapter 12"You're just going to pee, but you're holding your stomach? Does your stomach hurt?" I just laughed and pulled her towards the table since the boys were already seated one by one."Never mind all the things you're noticing. Let's go before Clara beats us to the good seats when she comes back." I held her by the arm and pulled her away from where we were standing. It would be bad if ghosts appeared while we were chatting here, right? So, this was the seating arrangement at our round table: Clara, then Miggy, then Xhea, followed by Marco, me, Señorito, Kyo, and Kia."Where should we start the shots?" Kia asked."I have an idea to make it fair. Let's spin the bottle to determine who goes first," Xhea replied."Why don't we let Señorito go first since this is his first time tasting lambanog?" Marco suggested. I don't know if I'm overthinking or if there's something different in Marco's tone. Is he annoyed with Señorito? But why? Based on my knowledge of Marco, he doesn't get an
Chapter 13"Here Señorito, drink it too." It's just that Marco reacted immediately."Señorito can do that, he doesn't need a chaser anymore." He said with a smile."Marco, this is the Señorito's first time, so –" I didn't finish what I was going to say because the Señorito answered immediately."It's fine. It's not that strong, I can manage and I don't need a chaser anymore." And then they stared at Señorito, they seemed to be getting heated. It's good and it seems that the others with us have also felt it because -"Oh, it's the next shot!" Kia"It's me." And then Xhea took his own shot glass and put a sling. The shot went around and around until I didn't even realize that the bottle of lambanog was already in half. Well, I'm not one of the shashot guys, huh? Only those boys and sometimes Xhea, Clara and Kia.They also avoid getting drunk because when the boys who make themselves famous get drunk, they can't be here at the stable to spend the night because if Aling Saling finds out,
