Chapter Four
"WHAT??" Nicky could not help but raise her voice a little as she looked at Gemma.
"Keep your voice down!" Gemma pleaded, as everything still felt so surreal, and she was still trying to calm her own nerves about what had just happened. It felt to Gemma like she had just seen a ghost.
"OH, this is going to get interesting... Off all people in the whole world, he had to be the one buying the company. Oh Gemma!" Nicky could not help but feel sorry for her best friend, giving her a very concern look.
"You don't say...!" Gemma felt a bit irritated with Nicky as she wasn't yet ready to face the reality of the matter.
"What am I going to do, Nicky?! Why, oh, why did he have to choose this company?! Is the universe trying to tell me something?? Am I to happy? As Gemma woke up the next morning, she didn't feel rested at all. Her neck felt stiff, and she tried to rub her neck while she sat up. It was as if he was haunting her in her dreams. Gemma opened the door and walked into his office. She came to a standstill just inside the door. She barely recognised the room from how the previous CEO had decorated it. Everything had changed, all the office furniture had been replaced with big, solid wood furnishings and it looked stylish. As Gemma woke up the next morning, Kyle was still fast asleep, and she slipped out of bed trying very hard not to wake him. Gemma needed some time to clear her mind and a hot shower, and a warm cup of coffee would do the trick. She showered quickly and went downstairs to start a pot of coffee. The next morning Gemma woke up and found Skye in her bed. Her daughter must've come and climbed in somewhere during the night. She smiled and climbed out softly so as not to wake her.
