Chapter Five
As Gemma woke up the next morning, she didn't feel rested at all. Her neck felt stiff, and she tried to rub her neck while she sat up. It was as if he was haunting her in her dreams. Gemma got out of bed and took a long, hot shower. As the water ran down her body, her mind drifted to that handsome face every now and again. She turned off the water and got out, drying her hair and doing her makeup carefully. It was as if she wanted to look her best for some reason and she took out one of her smart suits with a pink blouse. She felt good when she looked at herself in the mirror and her self-confidence was boosted.
Gemma went to wake up Skye so that she could start getting her ready for school.
"Morning, Mommy." Skye said through still very heavy eyes and half asleep.
"Morning, sweetheart, it's time to get up and get ready for school. I'll make you some pancakes before we go."

It was Monday morning and Gemma's stomach was in a knot knowing that Grant would be back in the office today. She wasn't prepared for any questions that he might have. The next morning Gemma woke up and found Skye in her bed. Her daughter must've come and climbed in somewhere during the night. She smiled and climbed out softly so as not to wake her. But she wouldn't trade these precious times with her daughter for anything in the world.
