Chapter 7: Mates or Not

Andrella's POV

"So when will we go to the spirit world?", I asked him while deep down I was really very happy with the thought that I could meet grandpa for the one last time.

"Thank you, Alpha Ca...", I stopped myself from completing the sentence when I saw him raising his brow. I quickly corrected myself by saying what he wanted me to do. "Cade", I called his name shyly. It made goosebumps on me to hear his name coming out of my mouth.

"Tomorrow night.", He answered. "But.."

.

"But?", I asked curiously to know what he wanted to say.

.

"But you have to tour me around in return. I have heard that this pack is blessed to have many beautiful places.", He said to which I smiled and nodded. Cade was completely stranger to me but I was not worried about that for two things. First, I will be taking him to all the public places and second, I have a feeling that I will be safe with him.

"Okay then. See you tomorrow before breakfast."

"So, it's like a date?", Becca asked with a big grin on her face.

.

"Nooooo", I denied. "It's not like that and I don't think I am his mate."

.

"Or maybe you are. But he is confused about his decision whether to reject or accept you because you are human.", Becca said after thinking deeply. I opened my mouth to say something against it but couldn't form any sentence. This could be possible because generally, no one wants humans as their mate. But I was not human. It was just that my powers were sealed. If Cade was really a mate then I wouldn't disclose this fact until he accepted me as a human. I wanted my soulmate to love me for me, not because of my powers.

"So, there is a war going on between his heart and his mind.", I laughed sadly.

"I will pray to Moon Goddess to let his heart win over his mind.", Becca smiled and hugged me. She could see my sadness even in my laughter. I think that was what we called a sister bond. "By the way, we have to share this piece with assumption with our brothers otherwise they won't let you go out of the palace with a stranger even for a second."

"Well....there is nothing to hide so I won't mind sharing about it with them.", I shrugged my shoulder. I knew the moment they would get to know about it. All of them will start digging into the background of Cade and his pack.

After an hour, I noticed how the people took a glance toward Cade. Maybe that's because of how handsome he was. He was wearing a simple white t-shirt and denim jeans. He looked no less than any model. But he didn't care about this at all. I took him to my father's restaurant because the food over there was something which was praised by both humans and werewolves.

He ordered the same thing which I did and loved it just like I did. I noticed how he looked arrogant and cold to the female waitress who was giving him all her attention.

I was enjoying his rude behavior toward another female. I was super duper hungry that's why I was eating the food like a hungry animal because of which I was making weird noises while munching the food. And for the first time, I saw him smiling at me. He didn't show any disgusting expression and after that, he kept staring at me intensely like I was the most important person for him.

.

"What?", I asked, raising my brows. But instead of answering my question, his thumb reached on my lips and he gently caressed it. He wiped the ketchup which was on my lips and showed it to me. I couldn't say a word on it for a moment. "Ummm...Thank you.", I muttered to which he smiled again. I lowered my eyes to hide my embarrassment but he started faking his cough to gain my attention and it actually worked.

"So, what's your plan for the future?", He asked to initiate the conversation and thankfully he did. It was much better than staring at me intensely.

.

"To get admission to Harvard and I think I could make it because I am pretty good with the studies.", I replied proudly, not caring about the fact that Cade might think of me as NERD.

.

"Hmm...Beauty with brains.", He complimented. I bit my lips to stop myself from blushing. "And what about your boyfriend?", He asked, making me laugh.

.

I shook my head trying to control my laughter. "No boyfriend."

.

"Really?", He looked serious when he asked me that.

.

"You know the rules of our world, Cade. People start recognizing their mate after eighteen. So, it will be a little heart-breaking if our boyfriend or girlfriend didn't happen to be our mate.", I explained to him.

.

"But you are human. You can't find your mate on your own until your mate finds you. So, you have a chance to make a boyfriend.", He pointed out.

.

"Still, I would like to choose to wait for my true soulmate, the only person who is destined to be mine rather than making a boyfriend. I have saved all my first for him. That's another thing if he will choose to reject me just because I am a human.", I said and saw an unknown emotion in his eyes.

.

"Your mate will be stupid to reject a gem like you.", He replied and kept staring at me strangely. I cleared my throat to bring him to reality. Every time when he looked at me in that way it made me feel like he was looking at my soul. Until now, no one had ever stared at me in that way.

It made me feel special.

"Umm...Do you find your mate?" I asked him that question that had been going on in my mind for a long time. But I mentally slapped myself for asking this question straightly. Damn it, I could have asked the same thing in another way.

.

"I will claim my mate as my bride when she will be legal for me.", He answered my question in a puzzle. It took a minute to understand that he said two things indirectly. First, he had found her mate, and second, his mate was still under eighteen. Even I was under eighteen. So, could this be possible that I was his mate?

Damn him, He answered my question so smartly that I was still clueless about the fact whether we were mates or not.
