Alexis’s POV
It is a normal tradition to celebrate the 18th birthday of any werewolf. There are quite a number of reasons why, but the most important one to me is that any wolf that turns 18 can now be considered an adult and is free to have a family and if they want to separate from their parents.
Maybe that was the reason why Alexandra left without looking back, my subconscious tells me for the thousandth time ever since Alexandra left the house.
I shake the thought out of my head and instead wish for something that might be near impossible at this point. It won’t happen, my subconscious tells me in my head, but I shut off her annoying voice and mutter a prayer to Selene…hopefully she’ll grant me my wish.
My reflection stares back at me and I blink and smile, showing little teeth to be sure that it’s really me. My hair is in smooth waves down my back almost reaching my waist and my plain brown eyes are lined with, black eyeliner to give my eyes this cute cat-shaped outline. Thanks to the help of little swabs of mascara, my eyelashes seem longer and fuller.
On my body is a dress I got three months ago on a random shopping spree with my friends. One glance at the shimmery blue dress and I knew that I was meant to wear it for this occasion.
“Oh honey…you look like an adult already!” my mum squealed from the doorway. I smiled and turned on my feet in time to see my Dad wipe a stray tear from his eye. They both walked forward and engulfed me in a hug. I sunk into their arms and breathed in their comforting scent, thinking about the one person that was missing.
If Alexandra was here he’d probably not agree to be hugged by our parents since he’d be 23 years old, or maybe he’d agree, and we’d have our first complete family hug.
They both pulled away from me, but they kept on holding on to each other’s hands.
“Come on honey…it’s almost time.” Said my mother, reaching out for my own hand. Her hand encloses around mine and I allow her to lead me out of the room, downstairs and then outside under the bright light of the moon.
“Here’s our celebrant." Dad announced, leading me through the back door into the garden which was where my mother and I had prepared for the short celebration. I heard a couple of wows and comments on my appearance, but I thought nothing of it or, rather, I couldn’t keep my thoughts in one place.
‘Relax, it’ll be fine’ a voice that I couldn’t recognize whispered, leaving my ear hot. I turned back to see no one behind me and let out a breath.
“There’s no need to be nervous, Alexis. It’s all right.” I mumbled to myself, mustering a smile at everyone.
The traditional rites started and as the minutes ticked towards midnight I felt the stir that my parents had been telling me about within me. I closed my eyes and let it consume me. A few minutes later, the feeling dissipated. It was for a short moment, but it felt like my entire system was rewired.
I opened my eyes in time to see the clock strike midnight. My parents, friends and the other guests gathered and burst happily into a birthday song and I sang along even though I was the celebrant.
A short while later, my mother took out the cake, and we took pictures until I was too tired to stand. It was only then I realized that I hadn’t taken any pictures with Drake, my crush and my supposed mate.
I bolted out of my seat like I sat on a pin and looked around the garden for him, but he was nowhere to be found. “Damn”, I muttered under my breath, and made eye contact with my father.
He seemed to understand my confusion and gestured towards the house. I nodded in response and dashed inside the house to look for Drake.
I suddenly felt stupid once he came into view, he was sitting all by himself by the kitchen counter looking like someone had stolen his puppy. How was I so sure that he was my mate? My parents warned me and I didn’t listen. I was adamant on the puppy love that we shared.
“Hey Lexi” he called out without looking up from the counter. “I didn’t get to wish you a happy birthday."
“Drake” I said without realizing his name slipped out of my mouth. “I’m sorry”
He laughed and got down from the stool. Although he was just a year older than me, he was very tall and had the features of a man in his middle twenties. “Happy Birthday Alexis, I hope your greatest wish comes through on your special day.”
I looked down at my feet clad in glass heels feeling guilty about the pain I must have caused him. He won’t take my apology because he knows it’s not my fault. The hand that I thought would make tingles crawl all over my body touches my chin, he raises my head with his fingers and says miles, reminding me of how much I liked him the first time I met him.
“This doesn’t change how I feel about you though. I perfectly understand the fact that you’re not my mate, but I won’t stop being your best friend.”
“I’d like that very much, Drake.” I sniffled, resting my forehead on his chest. We stay like that for a while, both of us trying to erase our past expectations.
Drake and I go back to the party all full of smiles that aren’t fully genuine. But we both relax and go back to normal as the night goes on.
I stay up the entire morning till the sky brightens, and it is then I realize, when everyone has gone home, that my wish didn’t come true.
Alexandra didn’t show up for my 18th birthday.
Alex's POVA month laterI was relaxing at home after training when Alpha Mark sent for me. I sat on the porch of the cabin I shared with Alexis, sipping a cup of coffee.Alexis was back from work. She had been trained on how to teach young pups basic things since she had always loved to have kids around her. She was reading a novel beside me on the porch. We had been through a lot and thought we had found a life here. A new beginning, we called it. Away from our parent's tainting. The sound of footsteps approaching us made us alert and turned to the direction. I looked up to see Killian, a pack member of Greenwolf walking towards the cabin. Killian was a newfound friend that we both got to be a lover of the game.“Good afternoon,” he greeted with a smile.“Hello Alexis, looking beautiful as always,” he teased Alexis as he always did.“You've come to get your ass whooped as usual,” I joked. We both played soccer around this time of the day. “Don't get over your head, I might just co
Alexis's POV He groaned, his tongue slipping into my mouth again. His hand glided over my shirt and he pushed back, kneeling in-between my legs as he unbuttoned his shirt, while I pulled my top over my head. I felt Alex's hand grip the waistband of my pants. I lifted my butt so he could remove them and he dropped them off by the side of the bed before staring down at me.Tyson kissed me gently, his lips moving against mine and he sucked my lower lip in his mouth. Sparks rush over my skin when grinded his hips against mine. His erection pressing against me and I gasp at the feel of the sparks rushing over my skin straight to my pussy. His lips devouring mine as he tastes every inch of my mouth, his tongue demanding as it fights mine for dominance which I let him have. His hand moved down my side and he growled against my lips when he cupped my breast. I rolled my hips against him, my hand moving down his chest and abs to pants. I pushed it down a little, his dick now free as he took o
Chapter 130Alexis's POVTwo Weeks LaterLiving here in the Greenwolf pack these past weeks has been incredible and one of the best things that’s ever happened to me since Alpha Kane kidnapped me to the Nightwolf pack months back. It's been peaceful. The shadows of Julia and Richard lurking in the shadows no longer loomed over us. Their punishment was out of our hands now, with the council in charge. All that mattered to me was that Alex and I could finally move forward without looking over our shoulders. Alpha Kane was dead too and the new Alpha was in no way interested in us. I leaned against Alex’s shoulder as we sat curled up in the living room of the house we’d been given, watching a movie. I had never imagined that after everything, we would find peace in such a simple way. I glanced up at him, taking in the relaxed smile on his face. He pulled me closer in between his laps, placed my head gently on his chest and I felt my heart skip a beat. “Do you like the movie?” I asked s
Alex's POVThe Next DayAs I stood in front of the Shadow Pack’s central gathering hall. I had an important task at hand. Exposing my parents' horrible deeds. The thought twisted my stomach. It wasn't an easy task but I knew it was something I had to do. It was time everyone else knew what they've been up to eventually and I would never want to be caught as an accomplice covering up their evil acts. Alexis stood beside me, her hand gripping mine tightly. Her presence was a reminder of what was important, of why I had to do this. We had both been victims of my parents' twisted ambitions. She had been kidnapped, just like me, raised in lies and manipulated for power. After the fight settled, I had called Beta Conor to inform the elders and pack members that I would love to address everyone before the coronation day. Beta Conor didn't question me since I was going to be the new Alpha. He knew he had to do whatever I wanted so he didn't get on my bad side. The elders were inside, along
Alex’s POVThe Moonlight was meant to make the atmosphere peaceful on a normal circumstances but today its gives an unsettling feeling to the turmoil within me. The air was thick with tension, and I could feel the weight of it pressing down on me. My heart pounded in my chest at the thought of what we were about to do and the danger it holds.Battleground isn’t on my favorite places to be and have been doing more of it this past few months. As I crouched behind the tree line, I glanced over at the fighters from the Greenwolf pack who had come to help me. I looked into their face and the realization that I was bring some of them to their graves dawned on me. Yet, they knew what was at stake. My eyes scanned the area ahead, and I could see the goons guarding the place where Alexis was being held. Alpha Kane was here, his car with the his pack's crest was packed outside and so were his warriors. I gritted my teeth. A big coincidence to be here say night he's here as well. Thank the Mo
Alpha Kane’s POVSitting in my office, I stared out the window at the night sky. My thoughts raced, circling back to the one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about, Alexis. It been weeks since she left. The Elders are now growing impatient, constantly asking where Alexis was and when the Luna ceremony would finally take place. I had tried my best to come up different excuses like telling them she was visiting her parents, but I knew that lie wouldn’t hold up much longer.Richard told me she was back to the pack but he didn't wants to bring her back right away so he can put Alex under control but now he had called.Alexis was being held at the outskirts of the Shadow Pack. He said I could come and get her. That smug bastard. Richard had been playing me from the beginning. He had promised me Alexis as a term for our alliance and I had no choice but to take her as my Luna, despite knowing she wasn’t my mate. Richard had later revealed while we were searching for they that Alexis and Alex
