Beginning

“Waaaang, Waaaang”.

I wake up to the sounds of my alarm. It’s only 6 a.m. and I’m still lazy to get up on my bed. I turned it off and in no time I doze off again in my sleep.

“Ring...Ring..”

“Who’s calling me this early morning”. I answer my phone with my sleepy voice.

“Hello”.

“Good morning sweetheart, why are you still in bed? You don’t have work today? my mom questioned.

“Morning Mom, I have but it’s still early. You woke me up with your call”, I complained to her.

“What early, it’s already 6:45 a.m., and mostly this time you are preparing to go to work already”.

“What? Oh, shoot I’m late mom, I forgot I don’t have my car with me today. I call you back later”. Bye, Love you."

I realized I will be riding with Isaac again today and I have only 15 mins to prepare. Really what a timing. Why did I doze off again in my sleep? I took a bath as fast as I can. I don’t even have time to have breakfast now. Forget it I will have it in my office. I was putting my shoes on when my doorbell rang.

“Coming”. I took a last glance at my appearance in my full-body mirror in the living room before opening my door.

When I opened the door Isaac is standing there looking like a model in a magazine. He’s in a dark blue suit, neat, and looking hot. He smiled like sunshine in the sky.

“Hi, good morning ready to go?

“Good morning, yes I am”. I smiled back at him.

“Let’s go then”. and he led us to the elevator.

We are already in his car and I am wondering if is he the one driving it today. I didn’t see his driver around. He opened the passenger seat in front of me.

“Are you driving today? I ask before I hop in.

“Yes, I sent my driver to do some errands for me this morning and I told Jeff to meet me in the office”. he explained.

“Oh, okay sorry to bother you again this morning”.

“No worries, we will go to the same office anyway. By the way, did you take your breakfast?

“Actually no, to be honest, I woke up a little late and I don’t have time to eat. I will take it to the office later”.

“Good I don’t have breakfast yet as well, let’s stop in one restaurant along the way and have breakfast there”.

“Amp is that okay with you? Maybe you're in a hurry and have an appointment waiting for you”.

“It’s okay it can wait”. he glanced at me with a smile before he looked ahead and focus on driving.

It’s sent me a weird feeling, why is he being so nice to me? I informed Carol that I will be coming a little late than usual. We stop by my usual breakfast place along the way to the office. It’s good that we’re a little earlier than others so there are not many people inside the restaurant.

We occupied the seat at the corner in the back. The waiter comes to our table to get our order.

“Good morning, can I have your order? the waitress greeted us but her eyes only focus on Isaac and ignored me openly.

“Good morning, I would like the combo of this one bacon, pancake, egg, and sausages with hot coffee”. I told her getting her attention and facing Isaac.

“How about you Isaac? I asked him.

“I will have what she has”. he told to the waitress and smiled at me.

“Okay, sir/ma’am I will be back and bring your food”. she told us and left.

While we were waiting for our food Isaac got a phone call and I check my mail on my phone as well. Isaac is still on his call when the food arrived. I’m waiting for him to finish so we could eat. He glanced at me and mouthed that I can eat first but I think it was not the right thing to do so I waited.

“Sorry for that, you should eat first the food is cold now”. he said in a sorry tone.

“It’s okay I can’t eat it if it’s too hot anyway. Let’s eat”. I said comfortingly.

We focus on our food, I couldn't help myself but just moan at the softness of the pancake. Isaac gave me a looked of amusement.

“Opps, sorry I couldn't help it, I loved their pancake here. It’s really delicious and soft like cotton”. I shyly said.

“I can see it, you enjoyed your food most of the time." Go on don’t mind me at all.” he said and he resumed eating.

After a while, we finish our breakfast and we’re waiting for our bill to be settled.

“Bettany, by the way, can you give me your number? If I have something to ask you about work I can give you a call”. he said seriously.

“Oh, Yeah right, okay give me your phone.” I timidly type my number into his phone and give it back to him.

“I will call you and save it, that’s my number”. he smiled again.

“You okay now? Let’s go”. he said and led me to his car again.

We’re already inside the elevator going up to our designated floor. I’m relieved that no one sees us together in the basement when we come out of the car. I don’t want to be involved in such gossip with Isaac around the company. The Elevator stopped on the Ground Floor and one of our directors hopped inside.

“Good Morning Mr. Jones, Ms.Wright”. he acknowledged us.

“Good Morning”. I greeted him back and Isaac only nodded at him. He’s a different person when he’s at the office. His serious face backs again like telling it’s my business face.

Fortunately, my floor arrived first I come out of the elevator and secretly glanced at Isaac to thank him again but he is not looking at me. So I come out without saying my thanks to him. Kinda disappointed but I let it go.

“Good morning, Bett”. Carol excitedly greet me.

“Good morning, why do you look so happy this morning? I teased her.

“Nothing, it’s just a good morning”. ha. ha. ha. By the way, how did you go home yesterday? I forgot to arrange your service and you didn’t ask me as well. It’s raining heavily yesterday.” Carol asked with concern.

“Well, actually I forgot as well that I send my car to maintenance yesterday that’s why I didn’t ask you to arrange my service. I didn’t expect also that it will rain that evening. But fortunately, I manage to get home though it’s a little traffic.” I explained to her and I avoided telling her that Isaac offered a ride.

“Then why you didn’t ask me yesterday night to arrange your service today morning?

“Oh, I don’t want to bother you yesterday maybe you were already asleep so I decided to take a taxi today. No worries Carol it’s not a hassle for me to do it. So tell me what's on my schedule for today?

Carol brief me on my full schedule lineup. Here we go again meetings after meetings. I settled in my office and started my work and I realized I didn’t thank him for this morning. I got my phone and type a message to Isaac.

Me: Thank you for today, Mr. Jones.

I hit send and after a few minutes, he replied.

Mr. Jones: Mr. Jones? 

Me: Is there a problem Mr. Jones?

Mr. Jones: I thought we were already friends but you still call me formally.

Me: We’re in the office Mr. Jones remember?

Mr. Jones: Yeah, I know and you don’t need to remind me but we are texting, no one sees us why so formal then?

Me: Fine, I know I will not win this argument with you. Thank you, Isaac. Happy?

Mr. Jones: Yeah, much better. 

I didn’t reply to his message and focused on my work.
