CHAPTER TWO

Leila was quite unsure what the rule meant.

She thought hard about it.

Her brain could only process one thing.

Sex

What?

"Why would I surrender my body to him?"

Leila asked Adam fixing him with a penetrating stare. She wanted him to provide a logical answer to her question.

How could that be included in a rule? That was absurd.

They could have hired a slut instead.

"That's the rule. I'm not the one who fixes the rules. The CEO fixed it."

Leila was stunned.

She hissed.

'The CEO must be a pompous bastard!'

Adam knew that look. It meant she was cursing David.

She darted an impatient look at Adam.

If sleeping with the CEO, was part of the rule, she would quit.

"Scrap that rule. He will not sleep with you."

He lied.

"Then why's it the number one rule on the list? How sure are you?"

Leila asked staring sharply at him.

"It's just to keep your mind ready for the job if you're willing to dedicate yourself to the job."

"Ladies get swayed by the CEO's good looks. They go crazy for him, and throw themselves at him."

He added.

Leila was speechless.

What did that mean?

What's her business with the women that threw themselves at him?

If they're dignified, they would not cheaply throw themselves at a man.

He's not special. She would gladly quit the job if she felt insulted by the CEO.

Adam did not want Leila to feel discouraged and quit without getting fired first.

He had lied to her and other secretaries before her.

Surrendering their body to the CEO was the most crucial part of the rule.

They would not escape it.

It's the reason having perfect and attractive physical features was part of the job requirements.

Adam read the other rules on the list. Excluding the first rule.

He had read these rules out to quite a lot of newly employed secretaries before Leila who were eventually fired.

He stressed each word as he read it out.

"You must not talk until he asks you to. Unless it's very important."

He cleared his itchy throat and continued.

Leila hissed.

Who did he think he was?

"You must be able to correctly tell his mood from his dress sense whenever he asks you to do so. He loves to express emotions through his dress sense."

Leila pursed her lips. She was losing patience.

"The CEO is a fashion enthusiast. You must learn and know everything about the fashion world.

Leila knew it'd be a long and hard journey for her. She's not prepared for all this at all.

And She's not even fashionable. She believed living a simple life didn't necessarily have to do with being fashionable.

"You must impress him with your dress sense and professional appearance."

Adam shifted his gaze to Leila's suit. It's not well ironed. She had a lot to do with her appearance.

"The expression on your face matters. Don't smile unnecessarily. What's there to smile at? Keep a straight face. It's professional that way."

Leila chuckled derisively.

Would there be any reason she'd smile at him?

She's getting tired already but she wanted to give it a try. The salary was encouraging.

Too many absurd rules. Her forehead creased into a frown.

Reg was right. She'd not last here.

Adam continued.

"Only knock twice on his door. If he didn't respond, just retrace your step.

When asked to come in, or when you're walking out of his office, please walk gently and quietly without making any sound."

Leila sighed.

"Is that all?"

She checked the list.

"That's all."

She wondered how many secretaries they had fired before they employed her.

Of course, they had to urgently fill the vacant position by employing her quickly even though she had not met all the requirements.

She'd try to abide by all the rules but she's not surrendering her body to him.

Adam was fed up with reading out rules to newly employed secretaries almost every week.

He silently prayed Leila would last for at least three months, without quitting or getting fired.

She was the third Secretary they had employed in the space of a month.

"What kind of person is the CEO?"

Leila wanted to know. Even though she knew for sure he was an arrogant person because of his absurd rules, she wanted to know if Adam had a different opinion about him.

Adam heaved a deep sigh.

He had been working with David for five years now. He could not clearly say the kind of person he was.

He knew that David loved to be pleased and did not care what anyone had to lose to please him.

Sometimes, he looked nice, and most times, he was bad-tempered.

"I don't think anyone cares to know what kind of person the CEO is. What's important is pleasing him and abiding by his rules."

Leila wondered how old David was.

At such a young age, he already owned one of the most popular clothing apparel companies in New York City.

He's an ambitious man. She would not dispute that.

"It's important We get you prepared before you start working for him."

without adequate preparations, she could get fired.

A knock at the door interrupted him.

A young man clad in a tailored suit entered. He was so muscular and tall.

"The CEO wants to see the newly employed secretary in his office now."

Adam stood abruptly.

His eyes widened.

"What? She is not prepared."

He said quietly.

Leila's heart rammed against her chest.

She's seeing the CEO?

So soon?

Adam stared at Leila intently.

He ran his hands through his hair and paced his office.

He had no doubt Leila would quit or get fired today.

David had asked the last secretary before Leila to strip naked and dance for him.

What if David asked Leila to touch his cock and sing into it like a microphone?

He would ask her to do something worse.
