LOGINChapter 53
A Father's Redemption (Part 2) The crimson lightning split the heavens. Rain began to fall, but it was not ordinary rain. Black droplets hissed as they struck the shattered stones of the castle courtyard, leaving behind patches of dead earth. The Shadow Devourer threw back its enormous head and roared. The sound rolled across the kingdom like thunder. Trees bent. Windows shattered. Even seasoned warriors dropped to one knee as the creature's overwhelming presence crushed the air around them. Kael wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth and slowly stood. Every muscle in his body screamed in protest. His golden aura flickered weakly. "We can't let it grow any stronger," he said, breathing heavily. Selene nodded. "Its power comes from despair. The longer this battle lasts, the stronger it becomes." Lyra tightened her grip on the Moonblade. "Then we end it now." The surviving royal guards and wolf warriors gathered behind them. Bruised. Bleeding. Exhausted. Yet not one of them retreated. Kael looked at the faces around him. Only hours ago, many of these people had been enemies. Now they stood shoulder to shoulder. "If today is our last battle," Kael said, his voice carrying through the ruined throne room, "then let history remember that humans and wolves chose to stand together." A roar of agreement answered him. The soldiers charged. --- The clash that followed was unlike anything the kingdom had ever witnessed. Arrows darkened the sky. Wolf warriors leaped onto the Devourer's massive body, driving enchanted blades between its scales. The beast twisted violently, throwing them aside as though they weighed nothing. One swipe of its claws reduced an entire line of soldiers to rubble. Another swing shattered the western wall of the castle. Kael dashed beneath the creature's chest, his sword blazing with golden fire. He struck once. Twice. Three times. Golden cracks spread across the monster's armor-like scales. "It can bleed!" shouted one of the captains. But almost immediately, black mist flowed over the wounds and sealed them. The Devourer laughed. "You still don't understand." It slammed both front claws into the ground. Dark waves erupted in every direction. Men and wolves alike were thrown through the air. Kael landed hard, sliding across broken stone until his back struck the remains of the throne. He struggled to rise. His strength was fading. --- Across the battlefield, King Alaric watched everything in silence. The black crystal embedded in his chest pulsed faster than ever. Each heartbeat felt like a knife carving through his soul. For years he had believed the crystal was a gift. A source of strength. Now he understood. It had never strengthened him. It had only chained him. He remembered the first night he found it. A lonely king grieving the death of his queen. A whisper in the darkness. "You can protect your kingdom." "You can never lose anyone again." He had believed it. And from that moment, every cruel decision had come easier. Every act of mercy had become harder. The crystal had not stolen his will. It had slowly poisoned it. Alaric closed his eyes. "I failed you..." He wasn't speaking to Kael. He was speaking to his late wife. "I failed our son." --- A scream echoed across the battlefield. Lyra. The Devourer's tail had wrapped around her waist, lifting her high above the ruined castle. The Moonblade slipped from her fingers and clattered onto the broken floor below. The monster's crimson eyes gleamed with satisfaction. "The Wolf Queen falls." Kael's heart nearly stopped. "LYRA!" He ran with everything he had left. The Devourer tightened its grip. Lyra gasped, struggling for breath. The creature opened its jaws. Dark energy gathered between its teeth. One blast... That was all it would take. Kael was still too far away. "No..." he whispered desperately. --- Suddenly— A figure stepped between them. King Alaric. The Devourer frowned. "You?" Alaric looked at his son one last time. There was no pride in his eyes. No arrogance. Only regret. "I cannot erase what I've done." His voice was calm. "But perhaps..." "I can give my son a future." Before anyone realized his intention, Alaric gripped the black crystal embedded in his own chest. Pain exploded through his body. Blood poured over his armor. With a cry that echoed through the shattered castle, he tore the crystal free. The darkness screamed. Not the king. The crystal. Black smoke burst from it like thousands of tortured souls escaping at once. The Devourer's eyes widened. "No!" For the first time... The monster sounded afraid. "You belong to me!" Alaric smiled sadly. "No." He looked at Kael. "When your mother placed you in my arms..." "I promised her I would protect you." A tear rolled down his weathered face. "I forgot that promise." He raised the crystal. "But not anymore." With every ounce of strength he had left, Alaric charged. The Devourer roared and thrust one of its enormous claws forward. The claw pierced straight through the king's chest. Blood splashed across the ruined floor. Kael screamed. "FATHER!" But Alaric did not stop. Even impaled on the monster's claw, he forced himself forward one final step. Then another. Until he stood directly before the Devourer's heart. He drove the crystal into the beast's chest. The world exploded. A pillar of black and golden light shot into the sky, tearing apart the storm clouds above. The Devourer let out a roar unlike any before. Its body convulsed violently. Cracks spread across its scales. Darkness poured from every wound. Alaric smiled faintly. He looked once more at Kael. "I'm proud..." His voice was barely audible. "...to call you my son." The light consumed him. When it faded... King Alaric was gone. Only his crown remained, lying upon the broken stones. Silence fell over the battlefield. Kael slowly walked forward. He knelt beside the abandoned crown. For years he had hated the man who wore it. Now, as tears blurred his vision, he realized he had also lost the only father he would ever have. He picked up the crown with trembling hands. "I forgive you." The words were carried away by the wind. Above them, the Devourer staggered backward. Its wounds no longer healed. The crystal lodged deep within its chest burned with blinding light. The monster glared at Kael with pure hatred. "You may have destroyed my heart..." "...but I still have enough strength to destroy your world!" The ground shook violently. Far beneath the castle, something ancient answered the beast's cry. The Moonblade suddenly flew into Lyra's waiting hand, blazing brighter than ever before. Selene's eyes widened as she looked at Lyra. "No..." "It's time." Lyra gasped sharply and clutched her stomach. A wave of pain swept through her. Kael rushed to her side. "Lyra?" She looked up at him, frightened but smiling through the pain. "Our baby..." "...is coming." End of Chapter 53Chapter 103The Shadow of KaelKael stared at the figure behind Lucian. His own face. His own eyes. His own scar. But the expression was different.Cold.Empty.Ancient.Lyra moved closer to Lucian.“Kael…”“I see him.”The shadow smiled.“Hello, brother.”Kael's blood ran cold.“Brother?”The shadow stepped forward.“I was born from the part of you that you rejected.”Kael raised the Key of Eternity.“I never had a brother.”“You did.”The shadow touched Lucian's shoulder.“You simply forgot me.”Lyra's golden eyes flashed.“Get away from my son.”The shadow looked at her.“Still protecting him.”“Always.”The shadow smiled.“Just like the first time.”Lyra froze.“What do you mean?”“You remember the first choice.”Kael stepped forward.“Don't use that name.”The shadow laughed.“Why?”“Because I know what it means.”“No.”The shadow's eyes darkened.“You remember what they allowed you to remember.”Kael tightened his grip on the Key.“What are you?”The shadow looked at him.“I am
Chapter 102The One Above the FirstThe universe was silent. No stars. No worlds. No moon.Nothing.Only darkness. And one enormous eye.It opened slowly.Kael stood beside Lyra.Lucian remained between them.Even the Destroyer had stopped moving. For the first time, the ancient creature looked small.Very small. The voice came again.“You have done well.”Kael raised the Key of Eternity.“Show yourself.”The eye moved.“I already have.”“You're hiding.”A quiet laugh echoed through the darkness.“No, First King.”The voice became colder.“You are simply too small to see me.”Kael's expression hardened.“Then make yourself smaller.”Lyra almost smiled.Even in the darkness, she recognized that stubbornness. The eye narrowed.“You still possess that arrogance.”Kael frowned.“You know me.”“I know every version of you.”“Then you know I won't surrender.”“Yes.”The voice paused.“That is why I created you.”Kael froze.Lyra looked at him.“What did it say?”Kael stared into the eye.“Y

Chapter 98The Three Who RemainThe darkness trembled.Kael stood beneath the three enormous eyes, the Key of Eternity floating behind him.Its light had changed. It was no longer simply silver.Gold and black light twisted around its edges, forming a strange symbol Kael had never seen before.Lyra stared at him.“Kael…”He looked at her.“I remember.”She stepped closer.“What do you remember?”“The first choice.”“What choice?”Kael looked toward Lucian.“The choice that created everything.”Lucian stared at him.“Daddy?”Kael knelt before his son.“You were never meant to be a weapon.”Lucian's eyes filled with tears.“Then what am I?”Kael placed a hand against his chest.“You are proof.”“Proof of what?”“That creation can choose its own path.”The three eyes above them narrowed.“Enough.”The voice shook the world.Kael stood.“You're afraid.”“I fear nothing.”“Then why did you stop me from remembering?”Silence.Lyra stepped beside Kael.“Because he knows what happens when we
