Chapter 06

"I came in peace."

"Well, I don't want your peace, if you can just not come into my room," I say, waving my hand in his direction and trying to get back to concentrating on my literature exercise.

But he doesn't come out, on the contrary. He obviously does the opposite of what I ask, so he enters the room and I watch for him to close the door behind him. Lanton is holding a tray in his hand, two sandwiches and a glass of some red juice that I can't identify what it is from.

"I brought you a snack. You haven't eaten anything since you arrived and you missed dinner again," Lanton crosses the room and leaves the tray on my study table near the window.

I remain silent, trying to understand question number three on page forty-five, but I cannot. Every time he is near me I lose my full concentration. Lanton just stands there, leaning against the table, silent. I get angry. I throw the pencil angrily on top of the book and look at him.
