Strange Throbbing

I exited the car when we arrived in front of the house. Finally, I was released from the awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere in the car. Throughout the trip, I kept looking out the window, annoyed with Uncle Matthew. Just looking at his face made me want to rant again. I walked quickly into the house ahead of Uncle Matthew.

"You should be able to behave like a mature woman," Uncle Matthew said, which made my footsteps instantly stop.

I turned to him, who had just entered the house. My eyebrows drew together sternly. What did he mean? He doesn't like this attitude of mine? I gave him a sharp look.

"If you don't like my attitude, stay out of my business."

I took another step, rushing into the room and closing the door rudely to show my annoyance at Uncle Matthew. I exhaled loudly, throwing my bag onto the bed roughly, causing some of my pens and notebooks to pop out.

"Who the hell is he, meddling in my business." I threw my weight off, sitting on the edge of the bed with my arms folded across my chest. I recalled what Selly had said about Uncle Matthew. "Handsome? Charismatic, huh?"

I lowered my arms, supporting myself on the edge of the bed. Selly's words were true. Uncle Matthew was indeed handsome. I let out a long sigh, thinking about Uncle Matthew's demeanor. If I think about it carefully, Uncle Matthew is a good man. He came to see me here after 12 years of not seeing each other. If he wanted to, he probably wouldn't have cared and left me alone in my grief here. But he came and promised to always be near me.

Unconsciously, I smiled at the thought of his handsome face. His athletic and dashing body. That cold look in his eyes, the scent of his body, and the way he spoke were truly a charming, mature man.

"Oh, my. What was I thinking?" I shook my head while patting my face lightly. How could I imagine my uncle like that?

After all, of course, my uncle already had many lovers. He must have used his handsome face to attract many women as he did earlier on the campus to make Selly hysterical. He's a handsome, well-established, and powerful man, so there must be a lot of women who want him.

Ah, that's right. We haven't met for a long time. There are many things I don't know about him. I'm curious about what Uncle Matthew has been doing all this time.

What does he do? His car is very nice, better than Dad's car. The clothes he wears are very nice and luxurious. I even know the brands of some of the clothes he's been wearing these days are branded clothes with prices that I can't afford. Uncle Matthew must be an extremely hardworking person.

"Nyla." I was surprised to hear Uncle Matthew's voice knocking on my bedroom door a few times. "Come down and have dinner."

I exhaled. "Yes," I replied shortly. I no longer heard the knocks on the door or his voice. He must have gone downstairs.

Lazily, I opened my closet, grabbed random clothes, and carried them into the bathroom. I looked in the mirror momentarily, then washed my face with facial foam. It felt much more refreshing. After that, I changed my clothes and walked slowly out of the room. I closed my eyes while deeply inhaling the delicious scent wafting from downstairs.

My feet stepped down the stairs. When I got downstairs, Uncle Matthew put plates and spoons on the dining table while looking at me. On the dining table, some delicious-looking, delicious food had been served. I walked slowly over to the dining table.

"Why are you so slow?" he asked without looking at me again.

"I'm changing my clothes first." I pulled the chair back while watching the food that was still billowing hot smoke. "Did Uncle cook all this?"

"No, no. I bought it," he replied flatly while sitting on the chair without even looking at me.

I snorted softly as I sat down. I felt a little stupid. Why would I question that? Of course, he bought it. Uncle Matthew, right, can't cook. That's only natural for a rich man who lives alone. He has plenty of money, so he can just buy whatever he wants.

Uncle Matthew had already eaten dinner first. I hurriedly picked up my food and ate it. Just like the aroma, it was delicious. The sliced meat and barbeque sauce were delicious. I loved it. We ate dinner quietly and silently.

I took a sip of my drink. My stomach had filled up quite a lot. My food was also almost gone. I watched Uncle Matthew, who was still eating his food. "If I may know, how long will you be staying here? "

"I don't know," he replied shortly, still not looking at me. He was focused on eating her food.

I put my drink back on the table, continuing my meal. This was also my chance to find out more about him. "Is Uncle not working? I've noticed that you're always at home. What do you do for a living? I wonder what kind of work you can do at home."

I leaned forward slightly, waiting for his answer. Uncle Matthew gulped down the rest of the water in his glass. I watched him get up from the chair. "It's none of your business, Nyla."

Uncle Matthew moved to pick up my empty plate. Uncle Matthew's distinctive perfume wafted back to me. My heart was doing something strange again. It was beating fast with us being so close.

I snorted in annoyance as I turned my face in the opposite direction of Uncle Matthew. "I'm just curious, right? Who knows, someday I could be like Uncle Matthew, who is rich and can relax at home."

I looked back at him with a slightly controlled heartbeat. Uncle Matthew seemed to exhale, then glanced at me with that cold look. "It's a secret. Like you said, stay out of my business."

Uncle Matthew carried my plate with him to the kitchen sink. I chuckled softly, still feeling a little annoyed with him. I exhaled softly, then stretched my body casually. "I have some things to discuss with Theo. Soon, Theo will be here." I glanced at my watch. "It's already seven o'clock. He'll be here in fifteen minutes."

I cringed when I heard the sound of plates clattering loudly in the sink. Our eyes met. Uncle Matthew gave me a sharp look. "How could you act so recklessly? Inviting a man to the house."

I sighed harshly as I folded my arms across my chest. "This is a normal thing. I'm a grown woman, and Theo is my friend. It's nothing new for us." I got up from the chair, turning my back on Uncle Matthew. "And I ask that you stay out of this." I stepped away, waltzing out of the dining room.

"Excuse me." Someone's voice from the doorway made my footsteps, which had already climbed one flight of stairs, stop.

I turned my head to the origin of the voice. It was Theo. He had come. I immediately looked at Uncle Matthew, who didn't like Theo's arrival. "Come in, Theo!" I shouted, inviting Theo to come in.

Theo entered the house, reluctantly looking at Uncle Matthew in the kitchen. I turned around, heading back up the stairs, followed by Theo from behind. We walked into my room.

"Are you okay?" asked Theo after entering my room.

I frowned. "I'm fine. Why?"

Theo seemed to exhale slowly. He looked worried, just like when we met again that day. "I'm worried he's mistreating you, Nyla. Just from his gaze, it's sharp like that. Honestly, I don't like it."

Ah, so that's why he looked worried. I smiled in response. "Don't worry, my uncle is annoying, but he's quite nice." My forehead scrunched up, unconsciously praising Uncle Matthew.

Theo looked at me with a doubtful look. "Really?"

I nodded slowly, trying to reassure Theo so that he no longer felt worried about me. I wasn't sure either. Is Uncle Matthew really a good person? I don't know, I just hope he's a good guy.

Theo sighed as he leaned back, resting his palms on the bed. "Thankfully, I feel relieved. How was your lecture today?"

"It was completely unplanned. Uncle Matthew forced me out, and who would have thought he brought me to campus with all the supplies he had prepared in the car's back seat." I started to tell Theo about my activities for the day with excitement. Everything I felt today to him.

We turned our heads simultaneously towards the door as Uncle Matthew opened the door to my room without knocking first. In his heavy voice, he called Theo's name. "You should go home immediately. It's getting late."

I gave Uncle Matthew a sharp look while holding Theo's wrist who was about to get up from the bed. "No need." I got up to confront Uncle Matthew boldly. "Theo can stay overnight here. We still have a lot to talk about."

"Nyla." Uncle Matthew's heavy voice and cold, sharp eyes made my heart shudder with horror. Quietly, I obeyed and let go of Theo's hand with a sullen face.

Theo got up from the bed, looking at me with a reluctant smile. "Then, I'll see you later, Nyla. Good night."

I remained silent, not answering Theo's words. Theo walked out of my room while waving his hand softly. I strolled behind him, escorting Theo halfway down the stairs. My eyes couldn't escape, watching Theo's back as he slowly disappeared out of the house.

Uncle Matthew is too much. I told him not to interfere in my business. I have to talk to him. I turned around, about to walk back up the stairs. However, I was surprised when Uncle Matthew suddenly lifted my body.

"Uncle!" My eyes widened. Where was he taking me?
