*******AVA’S POV******

The shock on Emmeline’s face when she heard Devlin’s name mirrored mine when Juliet first approached and told me he was still after her.

My survival had shocked everyone.

I was left to rot, but somehow, my father still had loyalists. They found me barely breathing—and saved me from death’s grip.

It took me three whole weeks to wake up again, and even longer for my body to fully recover. I stayed hidden in Dowin, far from all of this.

But Juliet?

She found me. Through whatever witchcraft she wielded, she tracked me down with disturbing precision. She was much scarier than I’d ever admit out loud.

Devlin wanted Emmeline.

Maybe he didn’t know the baby had survived. Maybe he did.

“What does he want with me?” Emmeline asked, her voice tight with panic as she nervously licked her lips.

Juliet didn’t sugarcoat. “A baby… for whatever reason, he believes bonding with you will make him equally powerful.”

Emmeline's eyes flicked instantly to Cedric. The tension between the

*****EMMELINE'S POV*****“How much longer before we get to the Council house?” I asked Grace, fanning myself with growing irritation. The weather today was unbearable—like the gates of hell had been left wide open. Because of the scorching sun, we chose the carriage over horses, but even the slow swaying of the ride didn’t offer much comfort.Grace chuckled lightly. “Give or take ten more minutes.”I let out a breath of relief and leaned back against the carriage wall, wiping sweat from my forehead. I hadn’t expected this journey to be so draining.“Here,” Ava offered, handing me a cup of water.“Thank you,” I muttered, then drank it in one go. My throat burned with thirst—I hadn’t even realized how dehydrated I was.“Face the window,” Ava suggested. “The breeze should help with the nausea.”I tucked my damp hair behind my ears and did as she said. To my surprise, it actually worked. The cool air brushing against my face was a small mercy in this heat.I sighed, watching the trees pas

******CEDRIC POV*****“Are you certain he's a spy and not just a scapegoat for your anger?” Juliet asked dryly as we made our way down to Marci’s dungeon.I rolled my eyes at her but didn’t respond. If we didn’t need her help, I would’ve gladly wiped that smug look off her face. She scoffed, shaking her head. “Look, I don’t give a damn about your family drama. Right now, we need answers. If you say Marci’s the spy, then fine—let’s beat the truth out of him.”I growled low in my throat, but she just laughed and strutted past the guards. They eyed her warily and rightly so. After what the witches did, I didn’t blame them for being on edge.I unlocked the heavy iron door and pushed it open. Inside, Marci sat slumped in a wooden chair, his wrists bound. His clothes were torn, his face bruised and bloodied, lips split open. He was already a mess, but nowhere near what I’d call punishment. His betrayal had cut deep. Deeper than Colima’s. Marci wasn’t just a warrior, he was…. family. As mu

****UNKNOWN POV*****“You had one chance, Anastasia,” I hissed, my voice like venom slicing through silence, “and you fucked it up.”She dropped to her knees, trembling, her hands shaking as she clutched the hem of her cloak. “P-Please, Mistress… mercy. It was all Santos’s fault!”I narrowed my eyes, my patience splintering. “His body has returned to dust. His soul dragged back to where it belongs. So tell me, Anastasia…” I stepped closer, magic crackling around my fingertips, “what could a pile of ash possibly do?”She didn’t answer. Instead, she shoved Laurel forward like a coward hiding behind the nearest body.“Mistress,” Laurel croaked, her voice tight with fear, “Santos… before he faded, he told his daughter the truth.”My blood ran cold for half a second—then fury took over.“WHAT?!”Magic exploded from my body in a storm of shadow and fire. The blast threw them both against the far wall like rag dolls. Their screams echoed as they crashed to the floor, the stone unforgiving an

*****CEDRIC POV*****I could feel a lot of emotions all at once—anger, hatred, sadness, realization. It triggered the mate bond.Emmeline.For whatever reason, all of it was coming from her.I rushed out of my room… her scent was all over the place. She was back.I followed the trail, it led to the guest room. Anastasia’s room.Panic surged through me as I bolted to the door, terrified something had happened to my mate.“Your worst nightmare,” I heard Anastasia’s voice just as I burst inside and pulled Emmeline close to me.She looked completely stunned, frozen in the doorway, her eyes locked on Anastasia and…Marci? He stood shirtless, looking just as shocked as I was. His chest was rising and falling fast. He didn’t need to say anything. He’d been making out with my sister.I clenched my fists, anger pulsing through me. He should’ve known better. This was Anastasia. She couldn’t be trusted. No wonder he kept pushing me to help her, acting like something was just “wrong” with her.“K

*******EMMELINE'S POV*****I ran straight to the Lunar Court, my legs screaming in protest, but I couldn’t stop. Not after what I saw…A vision of my father. It had been short and sharp. I saw it while my forehead was locked with Cedric’s. I tried to hold it together. I failed miserably. You would too, if you saw your father drenched in blood.Especially when you remember he once threatened to kill himself if I mated Cedric.I’ve lost my father once before.I wasn’t ready to lose him again.Behind me, I heard quickened footsteps. I turned sharply, ready to bite.“Why are you following me?” I snapped when I saw Grace. She gave a snort and flipped her braid over her shoulder. “The pack was worried after you sprinted out like your heels were on fire. What’s going on?”I didn’t bother answering. My lungs were burning and my heart was halfway down my throat, but I kept running. When I reached the court doors, I stopped and doubled over slightly, catching my breath. My hands shook as I pres
