The Divorce Night

Rain poured heavily over the city, the thunder echoing through the silent night.

Inside the grand mansion of Knight Estate, the atmosphere was colder than the storm outside.

Olivia Carter stood in the middle of the living room, her fingers trembling slightly as she held a document in her hand.

A divorce agreement.

Her eyes slowly lifted toward the man sitting across from her on the leather sofa.

Sebastian Knight.

The most powerful CEO in the city.

The man she had loved for three years.

But tonight, his expression was colder than ever.

His dark eyes held no warmth, no hesitation… only indifference.

"Sign it."

His deep voice was calm and emotionless, as if he were discussing a business deal.

Olivia’s heart clenched painfully.

Three years.

Three years of marriage.

And this was how it would end?

Her lips trembled slightly.

"Sebastian…"

Her voice was barely above a whisper.

"Is there really no other choice?"

Sebastian leaned back lazily against the sofa, his long fingers tapping slowly against the armrest.

His gaze landed on her like sharp ice.

"You already know the answer."

Each word felt like a knife cutting into her chest.

Olivia swallowed the lump in her throat.

She had always known Sebastian never truly loved her.

Their marriage had only happened because of a contract between families.

But she still believed… foolishly… that one day his heart might soften.

Instead, she was now standing here with divorce papers in her hands.

Just then—

The sound of high heels echoed through the hall.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Olivia turned around slowly.

A beautiful woman walked into the living room, wearing an elegant red dress and a confident smile.

Vanessa Blake.

Sebastian’s first love.

The woman he had never forgotten.

Vanessa walked directly toward Sebastian and naturally wrapped her arm around his.

Her red lips curved slightly as she looked at Olivia.

"Oh? She hasn’t signed yet?"

Her tone carried clear mockery.

Olivia felt her nails digging into her palm.

Sebastian did not move away from Vanessa.

Instead, he calmly said,

"She will."

Vanessa tilted her head, her eyes filled with disdain.

"You should be grateful, Olivia."

She smiled faintly.

"You got to be Mrs. Knight for three years. Most women would dream of that."

Olivia’s chest tightened painfully.

Grateful?

Was she supposed to be grateful for being discarded like trash?

Vanessa leaned closer to Sebastian, her voice soft.

"Sebastian, the guests are already waiting downstairs."

Sebastian nodded.

Then he looked back at Olivia with cold impatience.

"I don't have all night."

Those words shattered something inside her.

Her fingers slowly clenched around the pen on the table.

Three years.

She remembered every lonely night in this mansion.

Every dinner eaten alone.

Every moment she waited for him to come home.

She had tried so hard to be a good wife.

But to him…

She had always been nothing.

Olivia lowered her head, hiding the tears gathering in her eyes.

Slowly…

She signed her name.

Olivia Carter.

The moment the pen left the paper, a strange silence filled the room.

It was over.

Three years of marriage… ended in one signature.

Sebastian picked up the document and glanced at it briefly.

Satisfied.

"Good."

Vanessa smiled happily and kissed Sebastian lightly on the cheek.

Olivia looked away.

She felt like an outsider watching someone else's life.

Sebastian stood up, adjusting his suit jacket.

"Daniel will arrange the compensation."

Compensation.

So that was what their marriage was worth.

Olivia forced a small smile.

"It's not necessary."

Sebastian paused slightly but didn't argue.

To him, it probably didn't matter.

Vanessa glanced at Olivia again, her smile almost victorious.

"Don't worry, Olivia. Sebastian and I will take good care of everything."

Everything.

Including the life Olivia once dreamed of.

Olivia turned around slowly.

"I'll leave tonight."

Sebastian didn't stop her.

Not even a single word.

Her footsteps echoed quietly through the mansion as she walked toward the door.

Each step felt heavier than the last.

When she reached the entrance, she paused.

Her hand slowly moved to her stomach.

A secret she hadn't told anyone yet.

Her fingers trembled.

A faint whisper escaped her lips.

"I'm sorry…"

Her voice was almost inaudible.

Because the man inside that mansion would never know.

That she was carrying his child.

And tonight…

She was leaving his world forever.

Olivia stepped out into the heavy rain.

The cold drops soaked her clothes instantly.

But the pain in her heart hurt far more.

Behind her, the lights of Knight Estate shone brightly.

A place she once called home.

Now…

Just a memory.

Little did Sebastian Knight know…

The woman he had just divorced would one day return.

Stronger.

Richer.

And with a son who carried his name.

But by the time he realized the truth…

His regret would already be too late.

The rain continued pouring heavily over the city.

Olivia Carter walked slowly along the empty road, her thin dress completely soaked by the cold rain. Her hair clung to her face, and her shoes splashed through the water on the pavement.

But she didn't stop.

Behind her stood the enormous gates of Knight Estate, glowing under the golden lights.

Three years.

Three years of marriage ended tonight… just like that.

Olivia let out a soft, bitter laugh.

"So this is how it ends…"

The wind blew harder, making her shiver.

Her hand slowly moved to her stomach again.

The small life growing inside her was the only warmth she felt.

Tears mixed with rain on her cheeks.

"I'm sorry," she whispered softly.

"Your father… doesn't want us."

At that moment, a black car suddenly stopped beside her.

The window rolled down.

"Olivia?!"

A shocked voice called out.

Olivia turned slightly.

Inside the car was a young woman with long brown hair and worried eyes.

Mia Wilson.

Her best friend.

Mia quickly stepped out of the car, rushing toward her.

"Oh my God, Olivia!"

She grabbed Olivia's arms, her eyes wide with shock.

"What happened to you?! Why are you standing in the rain like this?"

Olivia forced a weak smile.

"It's over."

Mia froze.

"What do you mean… over?"

Olivia's lips trembled slightly.

"Sebastian and I… got divorced."

The words sounded strange even to her own ears.

Mia stared at her in disbelief.

"What?!"

Her voice rose with anger.

"That bastard actually divorced you?!"

Olivia looked down quietly.

She didn't answer.

Mia clenched her fists.

"I knew it! I knew that snake Vanessa Blake would ruin everything!"

She grabbed Olivia's hand.

"Come on. Get in the car first."

Olivia hesitated slightly but eventually nodded.

Inside the warm car, Mia handed her a towel.

Olivia wiped the rain from her face slowly.

Mia glanced at her carefully.

"You look pale… are you okay?"

Olivia stayed silent for a moment.

Then she quietly said something that made Mia freeze.

"I'm pregnant."

The car suddenly became silent.

Mia's eyes widened.

"What…?"

Olivia looked down at her hands.

"I found out yesterday."

Mia stared at her in shock.

"And you didn't tell Sebastian?"

Olivia slowly shook her head.

A bitter smile appeared on her lips.

"He doesn't love me."

She looked out the window as the rain blurred the city lights.

"Why would he care about this child?"

Mia felt anger rising inside her chest.

"Of course he should care! It's his child!"

Olivia gently placed her hand on her stomach again.

"No."

Her voice was soft but firm.

"This baby is mine."

Mia stared at her quietly.

Then she asked the question that had been lingering in her mind.

"What are you going to do now?"

Olivia's eyes slowly changed.

The weak sadness in them faded little by little.

Instead…

A quiet determination appeared.

"I'm leaving this city."

Mia blinked.

"Leaving?"

Olivia nodded.

"I can't stay here."

She looked toward the distant skyline where the tall building of Knight Group stood proudly.

"This city belongs to Sebastian."

"And I don't want my child growing up in his shadow."

Mia remained silent for a moment.

Then she sighed.

"You always were stubborn."

But her lips curved into a supportive smile.

"Fine."

She started the car engine.

"Then let's leave."

Olivia looked surprised.

"What?"

Mia laughed slightly.

"You think I'm letting my best friend run away alone?"

Olivia's eyes suddenly filled with tears again.

"Mia…"

Mia waved her hand casually.

"Don't cry. I hate emotional scenes."

She stepped on the gas.

The car drove forward through the rainy streets.

Far away from Knight Estate.

Far away from Sebastian Knight.

Meanwhile…

Inside the luxurious hall of Knight Estate, the atmosphere was completely different.

Soft music played.

Guests laughed and chatted while holding glasses of expensive champagne.

Tonight was not just any night.

It was also the celebration of Vanessa Blake's return to the city.

Sebastian stood near the large window, staring at the rain outside.

His face remained cold and expressionless.

Vanessa walked toward him with a glass of wine.

"Sebastian."

She smiled sweetly.

"You look unhappy."

Sebastian didn't respond.

Vanessa tilted her head slightly.

"You finally got rid of Olivia."

Her voice carried a hint of satisfaction.

"Shouldn't you feel relieved?"

Sebastian's eyes darkened slightly.

For some reason…

Olivia's face suddenly appeared in his mind.

The way she looked when she signed the papers.

The quiet pain in her eyes.

He frowned faintly.

Vanessa noticed his silence and quickly wrapped her arm around him.

"Don't think about her anymore."

She smiled softly.

"She's already gone."

Sebastian remained silent for a long moment.

Then he calmly said,

"Good."

Vanessa smiled brightly.

But she didn't notice something strange.

Sebastian kept staring at the rain outside.

As if something important had just slipped through his fingers.

Back in the car…

Olivia leaned her head against the window.

Her eyes slowly closed.

Exhaustion finally caught up with her.

But before she fell asleep, she whispered softly to the child inside her.

"Don't worry."

Her voice was gentle.

"I'll protect you."

Outside, the rain finally began to slow down.

The storm was passing.

But neither Olivia nor Sebastian knew…

That tonight's separation would change their lives forever.

Because five years later…

When Olivia Carter returned to this city—

She would no longer be the weak woman who left in the rain.

She would return as someone powerful enough…

To make even Sebastian Knight regret everything.

And when he finally discovers the truth about the child he lost…

It will already be too late.
