It was a little Polaroid photo.

I pulled it out for a closer look; it was a picture of a chubby little girl with green eyes and a head full of black hair. Just seeing the picture reminded me that this must be Jackson’s and Laura’s daughter. I remembered Laura being pregnant when I left.

I stared at the photo for a full minute, trying to find any similarity between her and Jackson or even Laura. The baby looks nothing like them.

“Do you want to talk about it now, Nicole?” Rowan asked, pulling my attention away from the picture.
