I let out a breath I didn’t know I was holding as soon as I stepped out of the conference room. That was intense and a bit overwhelming for me, seeing him again and hearing the disrespectful things he said. I didn't think I could handle it well, but surprisingly, I did, and I have never felt prouder of myself.

Jackson’s angry face flashed in my mind, and before I realized it, my lips curled into a smile.

“Are you alright?” I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at Rowan, who was standing in front of me with a concerned expression.

“I’m fine,” I replied, taking another deep breath.

He stared at me skeptically before asking again, “Are you sure?” I nodded and pushed myself off the wall where I had been resting.

Thankfully, Jackson was still inside the conference room.

“I’m fine, Rowan. I just feel a bit startled and angry,” I explained further to assure him that I was okay. Apart, from wanting to go back in there and bash Jackson’s head with a baseball bat I was fine.
