Jackson.

My teeth ground together as I take a good look at the people before me. My blood boils as rage filled me, what the fuck is she doing her and to make the whole thing worse she was with fucking Steele.

“Nicole,” I called, moving closer to her without knowing I was dragging Laura with me.

“Jackson,” she called, staring at me with her eyes wide open like a thief caught stealing.

What is she doing here? And with him?

“What are you doing here?” I asked, forcing myself not to unleash every single anger in my body.

Before she could answer, and I realized my question was stupid, I turned my gaze to the man standing beside her. His fucking hand was still wrapped around hers causing me to grind my teeth tighter so I wouldn’t do anything stupid.

I’m already thinking of some stupid stuff I could do to him right now.

“What is he doing here? Why are you together?” I asked the one question I have been waiting to ask since I saw her.

They looked like they were either going i

Laura. I ended up going to my room after having that conversation with Jackson. The look on his face, his eyes; they revealed what he wanted to do. They told me what I needed to know and what I should expect. It wasn’t just a coincidence that I eavesdropped on his conversation with his mother, and I almost got caught. But I did hear what they were talking about, and I still can’t believe Mrs. Davenport would want Jack to get back with that woman. After everything they have done to her, after she threw her out of this house, saying she wasn’t good enough for her now, she wants them to get back together? Not on my watch! I sat on my bed, staring at the wall as if it were the most interesting thing in the room. I hadn’t moved or said anything to anyone since Jackson left. At first, when I entered the room, I wanted to cry. But I hated crying; I hated feeling weak, and I definitely didn’t need that at this time. I needed to be strong, to plan this out well, and come out of it unscat

Nicole. My palm stings as soon as it connects with his face. I didn’t realize when my hand shot up to slap him, but I was glad with the outcome. He doesn’t get to say things like that and walk away unscathed, thinking he’s right. Jackson must be delusional to still believe I was in love with him. “Let this be the first and last time you say something like that about me, Jackson. I won’t be so lenient next time.” I huffed and then walked out, with Rowan right behind me. What an idiot. He always has to make things worse; he always makes me feel like grabbing the nearest sharp object and plunging it into his chest. I wouldn’t stop until I saw blood. “Are you alright?” he asked. I let out a huff, took a deep breath, and nodded. I’m fine. Aside from being a little stressed and worried, I’m perfectly fine. Rowan mumbled an “okay,” and we both sat in the car in uncomfortable silence. I stared out the window, waiting for him to start the car so I could get home to my babies.

Jackson. It was hard to concentrate on anything with Nicole sitting just a few aisles away. I tried to focus on what my lawyer and the judge were saying, but it was nearly impossible. My eyes kept drifting toward Nicole, and the sight of that guy’s arm wrapped around her shoulders, holding hands, was infuriating. I couldn’t help but stare at her, even after the court proceedings ended. The court had yet to decide whether I would be a part of my children’s lives, and I was worried about it. For now, I couldn’t see them—I knew Nicole wouldn’t let me get within ten feet after I took this to court. She was furious with me for doing it, but what choice did I have? If I wanted to see my kids or even get close to them, this was the only option. I walked out of the courthouse with my lawyer beside me. He was talking about a few things, but as usual, my focus was entirely on Nicole. That guy was still next to her. At first, they weren’t doing much while she spoke with her lawyer, but as soon

Nicole.Rowan and I walked into the court to meet my lawyer already waiting for me.“Good morning Miss Nancy,” I greeted her and she stood up and shook my hand.“Morning Miss Blackwood and Mr…..” she looked at Rowan who quickly stepped forward with his hand out.“Steele,” She nods.“Nice to meet you, Mr Steele,” I looked around and noticed the judge wasn't here yet.“So here is how this is going to go,” Her words pulled my attention back to her.She went ahead to let me know that today's session wasn’t just to tell me if Jackson and I can share custody or not. We have to present evidence and reasons why it wasn’t good for Jackson to be with the kids—something I haven’t thought of, but she assured me everything will be fine.“Good morning everyone,” Our heads snapped to the owner of the voice. It was a court registrar. He looked around and then continued,“Since everyone is here, I believe we can start.” He said and got nods from everyone in the room.“Please rise,” he said and I didn’

Nicole. The sound of someone knocking on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I was still standing in front of the mirror, which meant I had been lost in my memories of last night.I checked myself again, cleared my throat before asking the person out there to come in. Though I wondered who it could be, deep down I know it’s either Mom or Theodore. To my surprise, it was neither of them; Rowan was the one who poked his head inside. He smiled once he saw me before opening the door wider and walking in.That’s when I noticed Luna in his hold, she was resting her head on his shoulder sleeping I guess.“Hey,” he called out, drawing my attention back to him.“Hey. I didn’t know you were stopping by?” I said with a frown.I tried to remember him telling me he would stop by before going to work but I can’t.“I didn’t tell you because I wanted it to be a surprise.” He winked and tapped Luna lightly on her back.“Why are you here?” I asked and the tone I used wasn’t friendly at all.Rowan p

Nicole. I took a deep breath as I looked at myself in the mirror. I can do this. I repeated the words in my head. I have done things harder than this; my divorce was harder than this, and I came through with it. All I have to do is go there and……and what? I let out a breath, placing my palm on the wall as my thoughts wandered back to last night. I had to tell my kids about their said ‘father’, they had to know before he came into their life. I can’t help but think about their reactions. **** (LAST NIGHT) I wrapped Luna in a towel and walked out of the bathroom. Lucas, who also had just a towel, was lying on the bed playing with an invisible toy. “Come here, baby,” I called out to him as Luna and I made our way into the walk-in closet. “Baby,” Luna mimicked, causing me to roll my eyes. I swear she hasn’t stopped saying the word since she heard Rowan use it. Little feet marched toward me, and I glanced over my shoulder to make sure he wasn't going to fall. I first dressed L
