“C’mon, dearie...Touch me again,” Seraphina whispered as she stood, her voice low and steady, as her gaze locked on Vanessa’s. “Make hurting you easy for me, Vanessa… I beg of you.” The air grew tense, with anticipation, almost like the entire room was holding it's breath waiting for something to break... Maybe it was Seraphina's patience. Stephanie kept a close watch on her as continued to eat. Seraphina had it under control…she always did and there was no way in hell she'd lose to Vanessa in a fight.

“That’s enough trouble for one day, Ness.”

His deep voice cut through the thin silence with authority. The sound of his shoes got closer and closer. Seraphina didn’t need to turn around to know who it was. The familiarity of it settled deep in her chest, the voice she had once looked forward to after a long day.

Adrian Vale.

He stepped forward, his presence was commanding without any effort. Eyes around the restaurant turned quickly as he arrived. His eyes briefly flicked toward her, completely unreadable, before settling on Vanessa and without any hesitation, he placed a hand on Vanessa’s waist. It was supposed to be a simple gesture, but it felt anything but that and Vanessa straightened slightly, a small, satisfied smile formed on her lips as if she had just won a lottery over Seraphina, maybe she did. She leaned subtly into his touch. “She started—”

“Vanessa,” Adrian interrupted, his tone dropping into something firmer. “That is enough.”

The way he said it left no room for argument. “I apologize for the behavior of my wife, we'll be leaving now” he said calmly to Seraphina without looking at her directly. Vanessa pressed her lips together, clearly displeased, but she said nothing more. Seraphina let out a soft, humorless laugh, the sound laced with disbelief.

“Wife? Wow, sir.” she walked a little closer to him “That slipped out a little too naturally…how long have you been using it as an excuse?”

Adrian didn’t respond to her bait. He didn’t even look at her and that seemed to hurt her the most this evening.

“Let’s go,” he said instead, already turning away as though the situation had been handled, and he wanted no part in it anymore. Seraphina’s fingers curled tightly into her palms. “How long, Adrian?”

Adrian paused, just for a fraction of a second, but it was enough for her to notice. She took a few steps closer, her heels clicking sharply against the polished floor.

“How long have you been holding her like that?”

There was no answer. Stephanie shifted behind her, clearly uneasy. “Seraphina…” but Seraphina didn’t take her eyes off him. She waited, expecting something, anything, but Adrian simply exhaled quietly and looked back at Vanessa.

“Meet me at the car, it's suffocating in here” and continued walking, dismissing the question entirely.

That silence hurt more than any confession could possibly have. A cold smile slowly spread across Seraphina’s face.

“Of course, darling.” she laughed under her breath.

Vanessa, clearly pleased with the outcome, let out a small scoff. Then, without warning, she reached for Seraphina’s plate and tipped it over. The food crashed onto the floor, the sound echoing loudly through the now silent restaurant, gasps followed immediately, and Stephanie stepped forward, outrage written all over her face.

“You’ve actually lost your mind, bitch!” Seraphina didn’t react right away, rage painted her white skin red. Her gaze fell slowly to the mess at her feet, the ruined food, the broken calm and something in her expression shifted. Her body tensed, her hand tightening slightly as though she was about to retaliate. She stretched her hand and got a large chunk of Vanessa's hair and before she could pound tens if punches into her ugly face, her phone buzzed. The sound cut through the tension like a blade, she was hoping it was Adrian but she froze. Slowly, she reached into her pocket and pulled it out. The screen lit up with a message from the unknown number.

Her heart began to race as she opened it.

“Don’t fall for it.”

In her head, she had created a hundred scenarios to put Vanessa and Adrian through hell on the spot but the words were simple, but they hit harder than anything else that had happened that unfortunate night. For a moment, everything else faded into the background. The noise, Vanessa's screams, the people, even Adrian, none of it mattered anymore. Her thoughts raced, trying to make sense of it.

Then she looked up. Vanessa was crying and yelling, almost rehearsed, as though she was waiting for her to do it. That was when Seraphina understood and released Vanessa who fell to the ground. The tension in her body eased, replaced by something far more controlled. A slow, composed smile formed on her lips as she straightened.

“Clean it up,” she said calmly, her tone sharp enough to cut through glass. "Since you poured it down."

Stephanie blinked in confusion. “Wait… what?” but Seraphina had already picked up her bag and turned away. “We’re leaving.” and there was no hesitation in her steps as she walked toward the exit, her composure fully intact. Stephanie lingered for a second, shooting Vanessa a final glare before quickly following after her.

Behind them, the restaurant slowly got life again, murmurs filling the air along with the soft click of glasses. Adrian turned then, his gaze following Seraphina as she walked away. There was something different in his expression now, like he was unsettled, though he didn’t move to stop her or even try to speak to her. Vanessa stepped out to the car and closer to him, her voice softer this time. “Adrian, she—” but he paid no attention to her or even gave her a response.

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    CHAPTER 17: DELIVERY.

By morning, Seraphina looked terrible. She stood in front of the bathroom mirror and barely recognized herself. Her eyes were swollen and slightly red, dark circles sat beneath them and her hair looked like she had fought a hurricane and lost. She looked tired…not sleepy tired but exhausted in a way that settled deep inside the bones. She splashed cold water onto her face again. It didn't help…at this point, nothing helped. The words on the mirror kept replaying inside her head. ‘You looked behind you.’ Who the hell writes something like that? Who enters someone's bedroom twice and leaves without making a sound? Her hands gripped the edge of the sink…no. She couldn't stay in this house anymore…not today at least, maybe not ever. A knock sounded on the bathroom door. "Sera?" Stephanie's voice came through softly. "You alive in there?" Seraphina exhaled shakily. "Barely." The door opened slowly and Stephanie poked her head inside. She had changed into office clothes and was h

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    TURN AROUND.

Seraphina stared at the note for so long that the words stopped looking real to her. She still waited for Stephanie but she was taking a long time. ‘Turn around.” Her fingers trembled violently around the paper as she read it again and again, hoping somehow the sentence would change itself if she looked hard enough but it didn't. Her heartbeat pounded against her ribs so loudly she could barely hear anything else and just like that, the room felt smaller while the darkness felt heavier. ‘Turn around.’ The stalker had been watching her. Not yesterday, not through a camera…not from outside the property but Inside…inside her bedroom. The realization settled into her stomach like weight she couldn't carry. "No..." she whispered weakly and it barely sounded like her. The flower lay forgotten on the floor beside her bed while her eyes remained locked on those words. She didn't want to turn around. Every horror movie she had ever watched suddenly felt very educational because whatever

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 15: Watching.

By the time morning arrived, Stephanie had officially had enough. Her eyes were still swollen and her head still hurts, but she made up her mind that she was done. "No. Absolutely not." She pointed dramatically at Seraphina from across the breakfast island she had made while holding a mug of coffee. "We're done pretending this is normal." And Seraphina blinked slowly, confused. "I wasn't pretending." "You slept with a baseball bat." "That was one time." "It was last night." Seraphina looked away and Stephanie slammed her coffee mug down before she continued. "Someone has photographs of you sleeping, Seraphina…sleeping. Inside your own house. This is no longer creepy, we've crossed into criminal." And unfortunately, she wasn't wrong. The image from the previous night remained burned into Seraphina's mind. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw it again. The angle, the couch…her silk robe. The fact that someone had been close enough to take it…close enough to watch her, clos

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    HIS HOODIE

Seraphina stared at her phone but ignored the message for almost an hour because she just didn't want to look at it. She didn't want to see another photograph or another reminder that some stranger knew more about her life than they ever should or even she did. For a while, she simply sat on the floor surrounded by old photographs and years of memories she wished she could just throw away. Her eyes were swollen from crying and her head throbbed painfully from everything combined…even her chest hurt but then, her damn phone buzzed again. She stared at it from across, anger clinging onto her skin but she still refused to move even an inch because whatever was waiting inside that damn message couldn't possibly make her day better. If anything, it would probably make everything worse. Ten minutes passed, then twenty…then thirty and eventually, curiosity won. It always did and with a frustrated groan, Seraphina wiped her face aggressively and reached for the phone and the moment she

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    Chapter 13 — Spiral

“I know there’s someone here…” Seraphina whispered weakly and Stephanie looked at her like she regretted every life decision that had brought her to this point. The room stayed painfully bright from all the lights they had left on through the entire night. Neither of them had bothered turning anything off after the photo incident and now the bedroom looked weird under the artificial glow. Stephanie sat beside her against the headboard with messy hair and sleepy eyes before pulling her sister into another tight hug.“Sera darling…” she muttered tiredly. “We actually need sleep before both of us start hallucinating...” but the moment Stephanie finished speaking, silence filled the room and Seraphina slowly looked down only to realize her sister had genuinely fallen asleep sitting upright against her shoulder and despite everything happening, a small laugh escaped her.“Unbelievable.” But Seraphina still couldn’t sleep, not even close. Every sound made her flinch now. The wind brushing a

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    EMPTY HOUSE.

Adrian couldn't dwell on it because of work so he left and got back home a little past midnight. The penthouse was silent except for the faint hum of the city beyond the glass walls. Lights from skyscrapers poured into the dark space in streaks of silver and gold, stretching across the marble floors and luxury furniture that suddenly looked too still. Usually, Seraphina would be awake. Sometimes she’d pretend she wasn’t waiting for him by falling asleep dramatically on the couch downstairs with the television still running softly in the background. Other times, she’d be standing barefoot in the kitchen wearing one of those elegant dresses she loved so much while complaining about how late he was. “Mr. CEO,” she’d tease with that smile he could never ignore. “Should I schedule an appointment just to see my husband now?” and the memory seemed to hit him harder than expected. Adrian loosened his tie slowly as he stepped fully inside the penthouse, exhaustion weighing heavily against h

Vanessa didn't respond to Adrian in the car and silence grew between them and she noticed the difference immediately because Adrian was no longer listening to her. He acted like it but wasn't. The moment her car doors closed shut, Stephanie lost it immediately. “That bitch is insane!” she nearly screamed, pulling her heels off and throwing them angrily into the back of the car. “Why would anyone behave like that in public? • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    A NIGHT OUT.

The sun hit differently the moment Seraphina stepped out of the building, not warm or comforting, just hot. Like it burnt just her. She paused beside her car, her fingers tightening around her keys and for a moment, she thought through her life choices. For a moment, she just stood there, breathing
