Seraphina heard the garage door open and her husband's car slowly drive in. She didn't bother checking the time…he was always precise. Always 9:00pm. He'd leave work at 8, stop by to pick his coffee at 8:30 and drive for 30 minutes back home. He was always precise but not anymore.

She stood in the kitchen as elegant as ever. Marriage didn't mean boring and she took the assignment personally. Even after being married for 5 years, she made sure to look beautiful every evening while preparing dinner. It was the only moment she looked forward to after her long day at work and tonight, she stood on her diamond encrusted heels, her blonde hair dripping down her waist and her golden skin complementing her red dress beautifully. She had made a crispy chicken sandwich and fresh juice she always bragged to squeeze herself.

She heard the keys in the door and she giggled with her arms stretched wide “Mr. Big CEO, you're late again” she walked towards him slowly.

“I'm sorry, my princess” he lifted her off the ground “work stretched a little more” and planted a kiss on her lips before he stopped to stare at her “Darling, tell me your secret to aging backwards”

She held his hand and took him to the kitchen “Just be happy, it works like magic”. She proceeded to show off her cooking. He stretches to take a taste and she smacks his hands making him jump around in a very cartoonish manner. This was normal in the Vale family.

“Clean up in 10 and get back down, your dinner will be served” she says with a grin slowly stretching up her cheeks, like a woman who had just won the lottery.

“Okay your highness” he gave her a long kiss and walked up the stairs missing his step severally because he couldn't take his eyes off her.

Seraphina had always been beautiful, no one could compare. She always stood out no matter where she was and she wasn't just a beauty, but one with brains. She proved that after graduating top of the whole University of Dane. She was smart and had noticed the changes in her husband's behavior. His smile didn't quite reach his eyes anymore and he was constantly on his phone, calling or texting someone and tonight, he didn't notice when Seraphina took his phone off the kitchen cabinet. It was unlocked but she began having second thoughts…what if he was actually cheating, how'll she take it?

“Honey, I think my phone's there! If a call comes in, just ignore it! Okay?” Adrian yelled from upstairs.

She didn't respond. She had picked up the phone and she didn't have to go through it to be left speechless. A message had pooped in

“Are you home now, darling?” From Ness.

“Why's a woman asking if my husband is home yet?” She thought. “Why is he even talking to another woman? What does she mean by darling?” Her heart raced and her hands began to tremble. She tried to catch her breath as her nose leaked red. She was having a panic attack and everything became blurry until it wasn't making sense anymore. She staggered to the kitchen and poured water on her face.

“Let's have dinner, I'm starving,” Adrian said, walking down the stairs in pajama pants and a tank top, looking as dashing as ever. His hair was still damp, making it fall to his face. Seraphina stood at the table and smiled.

“Okay darling, let's eat”

They both sat to eat in the poorly lit and quiet room. The setting was fancy…the entire house was elegant and class just like Seraphina.

“Darling, the chicken tastes wonderful…did you change the recipe?” Adrian asked after putting just a slice of chicken into his mouth. She laughed “yes I did…I used lemon instead. I tried something different to give it that sweet and tangy taste”

Adrian laughed and looked at her. Not like he had been doing for the past few weeks, he looked at her like the man she had fallen for and decided to spend the rest of her life with. “You don't smile so much anymore” she said as he poked him with her fork “Work my love, Work” he replied.

They finished eating shortly after and she got up to do the dishes but he refused. “You already cooked, leave the dishes to me” she chuckled and followed behind him, leaning on his shoulder to absorb his scent. She couldn't quite place it but she was obsessed with it. Like perfumes mixed with flowers and sweat.

“I bet all those female workers in your company wished they could do this, huh?” she said as she wrapped her hands around his waist.

“I could say the same for you, My beautiful wife” he replied swiftly. She was about to get comfortable when the image of the message flashes in her mind again. Her breathing became hatched and she slowly walked to sit, trying to be natural. She didn't want him to suspect her.

When he was done, he walked to the chair and lifted her on his shoulders “What! Put me down!” She giggled and smacked his back but he refused.

“I noticed your breathing became unstable at a point, I'll take you to the room” he moved up the stairs.

He dropped her gently on the bed where she was still laughing out loud. Her hair, now a mess and her jewelry had almost fallen all off. “Come lay down beside me, babe” she tapped the space beside her. He slept in the same space for 5 years. That same space. He launched himself on the bed and cuddled his wife. She stared at the chandelier and back at him “do I make you genuinely happy, Adrian?”

He took a deep breath and turned to her “What happened?” She sighed “That's not the answer.”

“You do.”

“I'm glad.” And she fell asleep but not for too long until her phone buzzed violently, splitting the midnight air.

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    A NIGHT OUT.

The sun hit differently the moment Seraphina stepped out of the building, not warm or comforting, just hot. Like it burnt just her. She paused beside her car, her fingers tightening around her keys and for a moment, she thought through her life choices. For a moment, she just stood there, breathing in slowly like she had just run a dangerous marathon. Then she reached for her phone, expecting a hundred calls from her stalker but her heart skipped, no missed calls, no messages. Nothing.“Had he suddenly gotten tired?” She laughed under her breath but her brows furrowed…none of this seemed normal. For the past few days, her phone had been a war zone. Endless calls, texts and silence from the other end. That eerie, suffocating silence that made her skin crawl, that she had learnt to live with and now…nothing?“...Weird,” she mumbled , barely higher than a whisper and for a split second, she almost felt relief...almost.Something about it just didn’t sit right. Still, she shook it off and

On the other hand, Seraphina was going through hell with her unknown stalker. Calls and texts rushed in more than ever. She'd answer, scream at them, they'll stay silent until she hangs up. At some point, she turned off her phone. She walked around her new house and checked it out. It was beautiful. Plain white and perfectly lit. The chandelier was silver and gold, the walls had marbles, the bathroom had her name encrusted with bronze. Everything in this house screamed her and she loved it but the only problem was, her husband wasn't in it.She sat on her stairs and began bawling her eyes out. The weight of everything had finally hit and she was not taking it well. Her meal went cold, the water kept running in the kitchen and bathroom and she left the oven on. She kept thinking about Adrian. She wanted to call and ask how he's doing, if he had eaten and how he's coping with the separation but when she picked up her phone, she received a text from the unknown number. It was an image ta

The week came as quickly as Adrian suggested it. Initially, he still pretended to love her. Getting her gifts, changing her phone, coming home early to eat dinner but after 3 days a version of Adrian she had never seen emerged. He didn't call or eat, he came back late and was always on call with Vanessa. He made it obvious and Seraphina accepted the fate of their once beautiful marriage before the week ended. Seraphina called Stephanie to get a suitable place for her to move in and Steph screamed from the phone“Has he responded? Why're you getting a place now?”“I know what he'll say. So I won't wait to get heartbroken” Seraphina said before landing a gut-retching cough “... I'll send the money now”“Hmm…okay. I'll get a place that suits you”“Thank you, Steph. I wonder what I'll do without you”“Nothing, Sera. You'll do nothing without me.” Before Seraphina could respond, Stephanie hung up the call…leaving Seraphina with the echoes of her laughter. Stephanie helped her with sanity i

The meeting ended shortly and she picked up her bags to leave the office. Before she stepped out of the building, she stopped by the secretary to warn her. “If that lady comes in here again and you don't call security to lock her up, you'll lose your job. Got it?The secretary nodded like her life depended on it, maybe because it did.The drive home was quiet…too quiet. Like the calm before a terrible storm but she was ready. Her ringtone tore the peace and she glared at the phone.“Darling.”She answered “Sera Darling, I have another meeting…so I will be home late” he said hurriedly.“I do not care if you have a surgery and you are the surgeon or you're going for your burial…” she hissed “I want you home by the time I'm there.” She ended the call. After that tone in her voice, he knew better than to come late. She made a stop at her sister's office to tell her what happened and she almost exploded.“What do you mean that ugly woman is pregnant!” “Calm down, Steph. I'm going home to

Seraphina's mind raced, her heart pounded and her breath hitched. She didn't know why she felt so much fear rather than just responding to him and he noticed. He rushed down the stairs and held her “what's going on with you?” Worry, painting his face. Seraphina had started lookingpale, compared to when she made dinner. Her phone had dropped and he looked to see but it was just her sister.“You panicked because of Steph? Is she coming over” he asked out of genuine worry and Sera nodded weakly. Adrian let out a loud sigh as he put her on the couch and knelt in front of her “Darling, Stephanie is family…she can come whenever” he raised his hands to rub her cheeks “okay, baby?” She didn't respond. Tears ran down her cheeks quickly and it made Adrian scared. He kept asking what the problem was but she laid there crying while her mind and heart continued racing. When she eventually spoke, her voice was thinner than the usual melodic sounds she let out“I should be asking you…you changed

  • My Ex Husband Wants Me Back    That Damn Number.

The number was unknown. She thought about picking up the call. She didn't want to wake Adrian up but he only turned around and mumbled in his sleep, never actually waking up. She said once, for clarity “Darling?” No response. She knew he was fast asleep so she got out of her bed and walked slowly to the bathroom, watching the call end and come in over and over. She got to the bathroom and sat in the dry tub. She answered the phone and slowly raised it to her ear…nothing. The person on the other end said absolutely nothing.“Are you going to speak, or?” Seraphina spat out with disgust but still no response. She rolled her eyes and ended the call. It may have been one of the endless men who find her number on the internet because of her short career in modelling. As soon as she got out of the tubRING! RING! RING!Her ringtone viciously tore the air making her wince. She stared at her phone, her eyes glowing with rage and hate for this unknown person. She picked up again, still silent a
