Chapter 3

Autor: Lynn Green
In the dining room, Claire was forcing spoonfuls of steaming oatmeal into Anson's mouth. She pinched his arm whenever he refused, causing his pale, delicate arms to be covered in several red marks.

"Get away from him!" I rushed over and scooped Anson into my arms, feeling his hot skin the moment I touched him.

I pulled open his collar and saw that his back was already completely covered in a dense layer of red hives. "Who permitted you to feed him oatmeal? He's allergic to oats!"

Anson sobbed softly and burrowed deeper into my embrace, his face flushed with distress. "I-It hurts so much, Mommy…"

I lifted Anson into my arms and turned to leave, but Claire immediately stepped in front of the door and blocked my way. "Where do you think you're taking my son? Robert and I aren't allergic to oats, so how could he possibly be allergic to them? Did you feed him something you shouldn't have today, Winona?"

Ashton squirmed uncomfortably in my arms, his breathing starting to quicken.

I was so frantic that my voice was trembling. "Get out of the way! Anson needs to go to the hospital right now!"

Claire spread her arms to block my path, her eyes brimming with tears as if she were the victim in the situation. "I used to respect you and give you a pass before because you looked after my son for five years, Winona.

"I never expected you would deliberately ruin my son like this, teaching him to hate his parents and feeding him food he's allergic to. What are your intentions, Winona?"

Robert hurried into the dining room, catching everything Claire had just said. He looked completely furious as he barked, "Didn't I just tell you to stop causing trouble, Winona?

"You ought to know that taking over Jensen Group from Uncle Joshua is very important to me! I don't have time to deal with your tantrums right now, Winona!"

Anson, who was lying in my arms, suddenly began to cough violently, his tiny body racking with spasms.

I couldn't hold back anymore and yelled at them. "Your Uncle Joshua is my husband and Anson's father! Joshua will absolutely destroy you if you stay in my way and keep Anson from getting to the hospital!"

Claire acted all delicate, saying meekly, "You can say whatever you want to us, but please don't go around repeating that crazy talk to anyone else.

"Robert has been working so hard to get control of Jensen Group, so if Joshua ever finds out that you're using his reputation to lie to everyone, he might take his frustration out on Robert."

Robert's expression grew visibly more grim as he stepped forward to block my path. "I've obviously let you get away with way too much. If I don't teach you a lesson right now, you're just going to keep spouting whatever crazy nonsense that pops into your head, Winona!"

He yanked Anson out of my arms and roughly pushed him toward Claire. "You take the kid!"

Anson fell hard against the edge of the coffee table with a heavy thud. He slumped limply to the floor and remained entirely motionless.

"Anson!" I shrieked in absolute agony, throwing myself over him.

Claire rushed ahead to grab Anson, blocking his face to keep me from seeing his condition. She then leaned close to me and murmured in a tone audible exclusively to the two of us, "I've known for a very long time that Anson isn't my child, Winona."

She then completely ignored my terrified look and looked up at Robert, who was coming over to drag me away, and said, "You should have a proper talk with Winona, Robert. I'll take good care of the child."

I went completely cold as everything suddenly clicked—the reason Claire had harbored no compassion whatsoever for Anson from the outset was that she had long since known the truth.

Anson's face had already turned faintly blue. He still forced himself to speak out when he saw me being held back by Robert. "L-Let go of Mommy, you bad man!"

Robert, provoked by Anson's remarks, got up and kicked him, yelling, "You bastard! Who are you calling a bad man? I'm your father!"

Anson rolled across the ground a few times, spat out a mouthful of blood, and then stopped moving entirely.

Robert still wasn't satisfied, raising his foot as he intended to kick Anson again.

I threw myself forward to hold his leg, yelling, "Please stop kicking Anson!"

Robert kicked me away in annoyance. "Get out of my way! I'm going to teach him a lesson today! I'll let him know who his real father is!"

He was just about to kick Anson when the door slammed open from the outside with a loud bang, and a chilling voice rang out. "I'm his real father!"

There were elders from the Jensen family in attendance as well. They came forward collectively the moment we arrived, gazing at Anson with profound concern. "You're finally better, our darling Anson. We're never going to let those awful people hurt you ever again."Anson politely greeted all the elders, using his sweet charm to put a smile on everyone's face. There were colorful balloons and string lights hanging all over the backyard, and on the table sat a massive superhero-themed cake alongside a whole spread of delicious food, featuring all of Anson's and my favorite dishes.Joshua carried Anson onto the stage, took the microphone, and looked at the crowd below, then at me. He sounded gentle while saying, "Today marks Anson's sixth birthday, as well as the sixth anniversary of the marriage between Winona and me. These six years contained both laughter and hardships, but thankfully, I've always had her and our son by my side. "I wed the young woman I love most six years ago,

Claire followed suit and dropped to her knees, knocking her forehead against the floor. "We recognize our mistakes now, Winona and Joshua! Please just let go of us this time! We'll never do anything like this again!"I looked down at them coldly and asked flatly, "Do you really think a simple apology can make up for what you've done? You ran out on our wedding, abandoned your own flesh and blood, and intentionally harmed my child, Robert—every single thing you did was an unforgivable sin."You destroyed a marriage, eloped with Robert, abandoned your own child, and deliberately hurt Anson, Claire. Did you actually think you could just get away with all of this?"Joshua raised his hand, signaling the bodyguards to pull the two of them apart. He pulled out a document and threw it down in front of them. "Here's the agreement to strip you of the Jensen name. You'll have nothing to do with the Jensen family anymore once you sign it. "That evidence regarding your deliberate harm to Anson

Robert kicked out wildly at the empty air, kicking up a cloud of dust. "Who's playing tricks here? You can't scare me!"It was then that the fluorescent infant shifted again, reappearing directly before them. In the glass jar, the infant, with its oversized head, stared intently at them and pleaded with a childlike voice, choking with emotions. "I'm so cold, Mommy and Daddy… Please hug me…"Claire screamed hysterically and scrambled back, pressing herself against the wall. "Get away from me! Go look for him, not me! He was the one who gave you to Winona!"Robert, who was being pointed at by Claire, turned completely pale at this juncture, his lips shaking incessantly. "It takes two to tango! How could I have a child if you weren't involved? Go after her instead—she's your mother!"It was then that the fluorescence flickered intermittently, while the infant's sobbing persisted, echoing within the confined space. "I want to be with Mommy and Daddy… Please hold me…"Claire suddenly d

Joshua and I leaned over at the same time and gently pulled Anson into our arms.Anson buried his face in the crook of Joshua's neck and whispered, "I protected Mommy. I bit that bad lady, but I couldn't beat that bad guy, Daddy…"Joshua's eyes instantly welled with tears. He gently patted Anson's back and said softly, "You did an amazing job, Anson. You're truly our brave son. You already protected Mommy well, so I'm very proud of you."Anson nodded, not quite fully getting it, and snuggled back into my embrace. "I'm not in pain anymore, Mommy. I'm just kind of hungry."I kissed his forehead tenderly and said, "I'll make your favorite ravioli for you once you're better, Anson."In the dead of night, after Anson had finally drifted into a peaceful sleep once more, Joshua wrapped an arm around me and led me into the silent corridor outside the hospital ward. He leaned against the wall and gently stroked my cheek before asking softly, "How would you like to deal with Robert and Cl

Joshua's eyes were brimming with pure malice. He charged across the room in a flash and sent Robert flying to the floor with a kick.Robert cried out in agony as his wrist slammed into the corner of the table, immediately turning red and swelling up. He looked up and froze when he saw who it was, his pupils shrinking as his voice shook. "W-Why are you suddenly back, Uncle Joshua?"Joshua didn't even bother to look at him, raising his foot and kicking him straight in the chest. Robert slid across the floor, clutching his chest and coughing so hard he couldn't even get a word out.Claire froze as she held Anson. She subconsciously wanted to hide Anson behind her back, but Joshua grabbed her wrist in a tight grip, using so much force in his knuckles that he almost crushed her bones. Claire shrieked from the pain and involuntarily released her grip. "Ouch!"Joshua carefully held Anson in his arms. His body shook as his fingers touched Anson's faint blue face and the traces of blood at
