MasukShe sniffed in contemplating on either going back to their estate or not.
Then a waiter came up to her.
You should go in ma'am, the program is about to begin.
She raised her head a little and began taking her steps in, but just then Andrea sprung up to her.
"Hey Alicia, it's being such a long time I saw you last." She had a smile that didn't reach her eyes.
This was the woman who had ruined her marriage completely, why was she smiling and being all friendly to her? Alicia kept glancing at her, unable to look away for long.
What was so special about her that Nathan could die for?
Was it her body? she also had a nice body. She kept staring until Andrea interrupted her thoughts
"Hope you've been good?" She asked.
"Yes and you??"
"I'm good, and by the way you look beautiful in your dress."
Alicia knew she was only mocking her. Obviously she was ooking way prettier.
"You also look....." She didn't get to finish when Andrea dragged a waiter that was passing by and pushed him towards herself pouring down the drinks on the tray all over her body. The glasses shattering to pieces.
"Ma'am.. ma'am... I'm sorry." The waiter apologized but Andrea glared hard at him and mouthed for him to leave.
He ran off immediately.
"What the hell!" Andrea screamed, falling down to the floor.
"I was only trying to be friendly with you, why did you do this to me Miss Alicia?! Why are you being so mean to me!" Andrea wailed confusing Alicia.
She hadn't done anything. Why was she putting the blame of a waiter on her?? she stood speechless and confused until people started gathering at the scene.
Among the mini crowd, Nathan pushed through and grabbed her up delicately, like her knight in shining armor.
His gaze was deadly.
"Alicia!" His tone was cold as ice. It sent shivers down Alicia's spine.
She shuddered.
"Why did you do that!" His stares had fires burning inside of them while he held Andrea delicately to himself. It cut through Alicia's chest like a knife.
She looked at two of them almost about to tear up, but she held it in. She hadn't done anything.
"Answer me! Why did you do this to Andrea?"
"I didn't do anything." She muttered.
"Why must you lie?! I was only greeting you and you did this to me! you ruined my limited edition dress." She wailed into Nathan's chest while he rubbed her back.
Rather than being pained now, she was beginning to feel disgusted. She bit her lower lips painfully.
"You have to apologise to Andrea." Nathan muttered.
She scoffed, and just then she saw Andrea smirk into Nathan's chest.
Then it dawned on her. She should've followed her instinct instead of being confused all this while. This b!tch had planned everything.
Then she held up her head.
"I haven't done anything and I wouldn't apologize to her." She spat, turning away from the scene.
If her mother inlaw wasn't busy with her friends, she would've collected more hurtful words from her.
She figured she wasn't welcomed here anyway, why did she have to stay?
She stormed out, slid into the car and drove off immediately leaving the driver behind.
If she could beat up the two lovers, she'd have felt better. She had dreadful anger in her guts.
When she got home, she hurried into the shower. She could run mad if she didn't cool off.
Nathan and his mistress had succeeded in ruining her day, she cried in the shower while water dripped down her body.
After several hours in shower, she came out and was ready to sleep, but just then her phone lit up.
"Such an incompetent daughter in-law, it was nice you weren't even present. How could I have introduced you as my son's wife?! Andrea was just perfect and she replaced you! I wish she married my son instead of you. You're nothing but a disgrace!"
She switched off her phone and threw herself on the bed. She'd had enough and she was tired.
She tried to put herself to sleep, but it wasn't over yet-- her door banged opened. When she opened her eyes, she could only see blurry images.
"Who's there??" She muttered yawning now.
"Alicia!" The thunderous voice jolted her up immediately.
"Nathan??" She whispered.
"Why are you so cruel! you haven't apologized for one and you already did another one??"
She was confused, what had she done this time.
Clearly she she didn't do anything.
"What have I done this time??" She asked, of course frustrated at all the accusations.
"Don't you dare act dumb with me." His voice cold and bitter.
"Nathan, you met me here sleeping right? whatever is it that happened, isn't me."
"Cut me the crap! Who else would want Andrea dead? Why did you f*cking pay a car to run her over?! Andrea almost died!" He yelled at top of his lungs.
"Run her over??" Alicia was shocked.
This was huge, she wondered why anyone would want to run her over?? Of course she hated her, but not enough to have her killed?
"Answer me now!"
"Get away from me and go look for who's behind it." She spat and fell back on her bed, but he held her up.
"If anything happened to Andrea, I'll have you beheaded." He threatened, his eyes burning like that of a devil.
"I haven't done anything, get your hands off me." She muttered then a smirk suddenly appeared on her lips, at the realization of something.
Andrea was a f*cking bitch, what if she was a side chick of other married men and the wives wanted her dead?
The smirk disappeared immediately as Nathan's grips tightened more on her hand.
"Don't rip off my arm okay, go ask your princess who else she's having an affair with. Probably their wives want her dead, it's certainly not me." She muttered, wincing in pain.
"How dare you try to accuse Andrea of cheating on me."
"If you want to strangle me now because of that dirty b!tch, just do it. Kill me! Go ahead!" She now broke down in tears. She was tired.
"Don't you dare call her dirty."
She slowly cleaned her eyes with her other hand.
Now was the time.
There was no use enduring this anymore.
No matter how hard she tried, she figured she could never have Nathan by her side.
Back then when he was still on a wheel chair, he had mistaken her for Andrea so many times, especially when he was asleep. Whenever she tried to cuddle him, he'd always mentioned Andrea's name.
"I'm coming back for you, you must apologize to Andrea whether you like it or not."
He let go of her arm and storming towards the door to leave, but Alicia wasn't done with him yet.
CHAPTER 45Adeline was lost for words. Her tongue felt heavy, useless. She found herself stammering over and over again, each attempt worse than the last.“I… I…”Nathan’s eyes dropped to her hands. Slowly. Carefully. He examined them to see if she had taken anything from the safe. Her fingers were bare. No gold. No pouch. No hidden cloth. Nothing.Only then did she finally find her voice.“I went in to clean the safe,” she said, forcing the sentence out.“At this hour?” he asked. The question was calm, but it pressed against her chest. She scratched her head, buying time, searching desperately for what to say. Her thoughts scrambled until something clicked. “I was feeling very sick during the day,” she rushed out. “But I have a little strength now. I thought I could clean it.”The words sounded thin. Even she could hear it.Nathan’s gaze did not soften. She was obviously lying. So he assumed.“How did you get access to the safe?” Nathan asked.Again, she was lost for words. Her mind
Andrea was furious. But she still loved him.Or at least, she loved the way he made her feel. She stood in the middle of the suite, chest rising and falling sharply. Her eyes blazed with a mix of anger and desire.“How could you?” she snapped, her voice trembling between hurt and outrage. “You think I won’t hear about this? You think I won’t walk in?”The three women hurried out, gathering their things, glancing at her with a mix of curiosity and awkwardness. The door clicked shut behind them.Silence.The man ran a hand through his hair and sighed. “Andrea, don’t start.”“Don’t start?” she laughed bitterly, the sound sharp in the quiet room. “You’re in bed with three women.”“And you came here without calling,” he said, his voice calm but edged with steel. Her jaw tightened, her teeth pressing together. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Then something shifted. The anger didn’t vanish; it melted into something darker, hotter, reckless. She stepped closer, the heat of her body press
Andrea stood in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection longer than necessary. The room was extremely quiet. She slowly lifted a deep red gown from the bed and pressed it against her body. The silk clung perfectly. It made her look elegant, bold, impossible to ignore.“If he won’t look at me at home,” she murmured under her breath, fastening the zipper carefully, “he will have to look at me tonight.”She adjusted the neckline slightly lower. Her fingers paused. Her lips pressed into a thin line.Ever since the pregnancy… everything had shifted. Nathan had grown colder, more distant. Like she was a reminder of something he didn’t want to face.Andrea picked up her phone. No message from him.Not even a simple I’ve arrived. Her lips curved into a thin smile, but it didn’t reach her eyes.“Fine,” she whispered. “Let’s see how distant you stay tonight.”Her driver opened the car door for her when she arrived at the venue of the party Nathan attended.Flashlights flickered in the di
“What? Are you stalking me, Marie?”Nathan’s brows drew together sharply, his grip tightening around the stem of his wine glass.Marie’s expression flickered, it was hurt first, then disbelief. “No. Of course not.” She swallowed, steadying herself. “I was invited, just like you. I saw you speaking with my friend and her husband earlier.”Nathan let out a short breath through his nose. “What do you want, Marie?”The chair creaked softly as she settled in beside him.Her fingers twisted together in front of her, knuckles paling. “Please, Nathan… Can we talk? My conscience keeps gnawing at me. I know I betrayed you years ago, but I’m here now to make things right. Please.”He glanced past her, already dismissing her. “I didn’t come all the way here to have a conversation with you. Stay out of my way.”He lifted his chin slightly toward Mark. “Get me another table.”“Yes, sir,” Mark responded immediately.Marie stepped forward, desperation breaking through her composure.“Nathan! For how
The trio finally reached Emily’s apartment. Alicia unlocked the door, and they paused just outside the threshold.Vanessa leaned slightly closer to Alicia, lowering her voice. “Ma’am, you saw the man in the hospital, right?” she began.“Dylan…” Alicia confirmed, nodding. “He’s in love with you. If you’re ready, maybe… maybe you should give him a chance, Since your marriage with Mr. Nathan is over and he chose his mistress over you.”Alicia’s hand froze on the doorknob. Emily’s pale face reflected exhaustion, but her eyes narrowed slightly at Vanessa’s words. Neither of them said anything.Alicia pushed the door open, stepping inside. Emily followed, leaning lightly on her arm. Vanessa came in last, still fidgeting slightly. As they got inside, Vanessa spoke again, her tone softer, almost pleading. “Look… he might treat you better than Mr. Nathan ever did. Even more than you deserve.”Emily’s eyes snapped toward Vanessa, sharp despite her weakness. “Don’t say that,” she said firmly. “
Alicia stirred on the couch. Her eyelids fluttered open, sunlight brushing softly against her face. She stretched, groaning lightly, and her hand fumbled for the phone on the coffee table. She blinked at the clock. Her stomach sank.“Oh no… I might be late….” she whispered. She pushed herself upright, brushing hair from her face with one hand while grabbing her bag with the other. The tension from yesterday still clung to her shoulders, but there was no time to dwell. She had to move. She hurried through a quick bath, yanked on her jacket, slipped into her shoes, and grabbed the wedding invitation card from the table. One glance at it made her stomach knot, but she shoved it into her bag without thinking twice. The cab arrived, and Alicia practically ran toward it, sliding into the seat. The city had begun to stir, but her thoughts were entirely with Emily.“Thank you….” She said as the cab driver dropped her off.By the time she reached the office, she wasn’t as late as she had feare
