MasukALEXANDER
~•~ I stared down at her, waiting for an explanation, waiting for her to tell me that she was drunk and didn’t know what she was doing, anything that could at least put me at ease, but she didn’t. Instead, she looked up at me and said, “This is fake, Alex.” “Fake?” I laughed. “That’s your explanation, that it’s fake?” “Look,” she seemed less angry than she was just a few minutes ago. “I know how it looks. I understand you’re angry at me because you believe I’ve cheated on you, but I didn’t. I did meet him that day, but it was only for dinner and the director as well as all our assistants were present. I didn’t kiss him. I was never even alone with him.” My tongue poked the inside of my cheek. Her words didn’t even make sense. “So everything is true except for the part that makes you look bad?” “You’re not hearing me, Alex!” “Oh, I am. And all I’m hearing is your lack of accountability, Charlotte. There’s tangible proof in front of you and you’re still denying it?” I shook my head in disappointment. “I didn’t expect this from you.” A tear rolled down her cheek, landing on her shirt, then another. Before I knew it, she was crying. “Someone is trying to slander me, Alex. This is not true, I promise.” I turned away from her. She knew her tears were my weakness and she knew how to use them to her advantage. “Why don’t you scroll and see the rest of the pictures then?” If it were just a kiss, I wouldn’t be this angry. I could have easily dismissed it. I could have pretended it never happened as long as she promised to stay away from him. I would never have brought it up, either, but it was much more than that. There were more pictures of them entering a hotel, both of them in a hotel room. Both of them getting undressed, not knowing they were being watched. At first, I’d dismissed the pictures as AI-generated pictures but they were way too detailed not to be true. The piercing on her back. The tattoos on the side of her waist and the side of her breasts. AI couldn’t be this thorough. “Please, Alex. I don’t know how these came about but I am certain it’s not me! I didn’t even drink! If I had slept with him, I would have remembered!” I turned back around to face her, but before I could say anything, her phone started ringing. She ignored it at first. “Aren’t you going to take that?” She wiped her tears with the back of her hand and brought out her phone from her pocket. My eyes went straight to the screen. A chuckle slipped past my lips when I saw who was calling. Talk about incredible timing. “Answer it.” She stared at me for a few seconds, no doubt contemplating whether to listen or not. When she realized it wasn’t worth fighting me over, she answered the call and put it on speaker. “H-hello?” She cleared her throat. “What’s up?” “Are you good? Your voice sounds different.” I rolled my eyes. He knew her voice enough to know when there was a change. Charlotte faked a laugh. “That’s what happens when I spend three months constantly singing.” Dave Brown laughed loudly even though it wasn’t that funny. “You singers are incredible.” My tongue poked the inside of my cheek, irritated by the unnecessary compliment. She avoided my eyes, uncomfortable as well. “Did you call for a reason?” “Oh yeah! I wanted to check if the news has been delivered to you? We’re the official cast.” “Oh,” she glanced at me. “I haven’t heard yet. Thanks for telling me.” “I guess the director saw our chemistry.” He chuckled. She cleared her throat again, knowing the call was doing nothing to help her case. “I’m busy right now. How about I call you later?” “Alright then. See you soon.” She hung up after that and looked at me. “I know that sounded sketchy…” I scoffed and walked away from her, walking further into the closet to find the shirt I originally came for. I took the first shirt I saw off its hanger and put it on. “Come on, Alex. Do you really believe I’ll cheat on you?” She followed me as I walked out of the closet. “I don’t know what to believe anymore, Charlotte.” “How about you start by believing your wife?” I didn’t respond because I didn’t know how to. How could I believe her when every piece of evidence was pointing towards cheating? How could I just take her world for it like a fool? Before those photos, I never would have believed she would cheat on me, but I didn’t know anymore. I’d acquired those photos at a very high price just because I didn’t want her reputation to be ruined. I had given her enough grace by not letting the paparazzi post them. I’d paid a lot to suppress the news. I knew she was just getting into acting. I didn’t want to ruin that for her, but she still found it hard to tell me the truth. I turned around to face her once more. She stopped walking before she could run into me. “Tell me something, Charlotte. Are you going to take that gig?” “What?” “Are you going to go through with it? Are you going to act with him?” She bit down on her bottom lip, staying quiet. Her silence was all I needed. “Of course,” I nodded. “Alex,” she teared up again. I shook my head, not wanting to hear any more. “Either you let go of the gig or we get divorced.”CHARLOTTE~•~The next few weeks were one of the least stressful ones I’d had since the year started. I still wasn’t posting on my social media, but I also wasn’t waking up to thousands of hate comments on my old posts.I still got some horrible DMs every few days, but nothing I paid attention to. It seemed like Vanessa had dropped her pitchforks and was no longer coming after me.Too late. She should have stopped before I figured out who she was. I was looking forward to suing her but my team agreed to do so after I had at least one public appearance. Since I wasn’t going on any podcasts or variety shows soon, I could only do that after the gala next month. Since it was a last-minute appearance, I had no choice but to use a month and a half to prepare my outfit. Well, that was the designer’s work, but it was still on a tight schedule because I hadn’t been planning to attend any event throughout this year. Vanessa basically forced me out.Aside from the measurements I’d taken two we
CHARLOTTE~•~Alexander looked in the direction of the man, but merely rolled his eyes, gripped my chin, and kissed me.I gasped into his mouth and he took the opportunity to slide his tongue in my mouth. I was stunned, unable to react before my brain finally caught up with the situation and I pushed Alexander away.“She doesn't even want you.” He laughed as he reached us, then turned to me. “Hey, superstar.”Thankfully, the ranch was a bit dark and the lights weren’t shining our way so no one could see the absolute redness on my cheeks. “H-hey Harvey.” I cleared my throat, making sure my voice came out steadily. “Alex told me you owned the ranch.”“I would have thought he had forgotten.” He said sarcastically. “Since he didn’t inform me that he’d be present this evening.” He added as he turned to glare at his friend.Alexander shrugged, wiping his lips with the back of his palm pointedly. I kicked him in the shin. He grunted and looked over at Harvey again. “Who’s your friend?”The
CHARLOTTE~•~“Now?” I repeated. We’d just talked about heavy stuff and he was suddenly asking me on a date?He didn’t hesitate. “Yes, now.”“It’s almost evening.” I pointed out. My brain was still processing the fact that we went from talking about my career choices to riding a horse.“And?”“And normal people don’t randomly decide to go horseback riding in the middle of the evening.” Since when was he this impulsive?“It’s not like we’re doing anything important.” He said, his eyes flicking over to the TV. The reality show was horrible. Everyone was walking on eggshells around each other and were scared to say what was on their mind, which made the show boring.I couldn’t help but laugh. He wasn’t wrong. “You’re unbelievable.”“That wasn’t a no.” His grin widened immediately.“I didn’t say yes either.”“You didn’t say no.”Thirty minutes later after taking another shower, I found myself changing into more comfortable clothes while wondering how I got manipulated into a spontaneous o
ALEXANDER~•~I’d taken Charlotte by surprise when I suddenly asked her about the music thing but I’d been thinking about it for a while now.I was curious and also worried and that worry multiplied when she said things had changed after she had Nyla. “What does that even mean, Charlotte?” She opened her mouth to speak, but closed it back and sighed again. Was it so hard for her to say what she wanted to say?“You can share your thoughts with me, Charlotte,” I told her, making sure she knew I was a safe space for her. “I won’t judge you.”“I know. I just…” she sighed again. “You’re making it sound like a big deal, but it’s not.”It was a big deal. While we were married, Charlotte was always writing or producing. She had a soundproof studio because she was always in there making magic with her hands and while I liked to listen to the process, it sometimes interfered with my work which was why my office and her studio were on opposite sides of the house.I was going off track, but the
CHARLOTTE~•~Vivian told me not to pursue the case yet.Apparently, I was just starting to gain public sympathy and if I got into a court fight with Vanessa over a man (because the fans would eventually find out), it would do more harm to good for me.She told me to wait it out, then strike later, preferably when all these had died down. According to her, everyone would look back and apologize to me for being so hard on me when everything was being manipulated behind the scenes. That was what Vivian said and while I was very impatient, I trusted her with my life. She had been my publicist for eight years for a reason, even before I started acting. When I reiterated Vivian’s words to Alexander, he had simply nodded and said he was going to store the evidence properly for whenever I needed it.That was a shocker because I’d expected him to demand to take care of it himself if my team wasn’t ready, but then again, my bad press wasn’t good for him because we were basically introducing ou
CHARLOTTE~•~I stared at Alexander expectantly, waiting to hear what he had to say. I wasn’t sure if I was prepared to know who was going out of their way to ruin my life but I was curious. I wanted to know what beef I had with them too.Alexander walked closer, his jaw still clenched tightly, and his eyes dark with something between anger and concern. “It’s Vanessa Paige.”For a second, the name didn’t register. Vanessa Paige? The name sounded vaguely familiar. Then it hit me like a slap.“Vanessa?” I repeated, absolutely taken aback. “Dave’s former co-star?”Alexander nodded. “You went for her birthday, didn’t you?” He questioned even if I didn’t tell him whose birthday I attended. “Harvey dug deep. He found everything.” He added as if he could sense the question at the tip of my tongue. But then again, the pictures of Dave and me had mentioned Vanessa’s party so no one had to dig deep to find out where I was that night. That being said, Vansssa Paige? Why?I took a step back until
ALEXANDER~•~Too many people were trying to reach out to me at the same time and it all had the same message.“Your ex-wife hid your daughter from you?”It painted Charlotte in a bad light and it made me feel a bit guilty, just not enough to drop the case. It wasn’t like she was willing to hear me
CHARLOTTE~•~I would strangle Alexander if it wouldn’t land me in jail.Alexander’s petition didn’t feel real, not when I first got the papers while I was with Dave, not even when I confronted him in front of his penthouse. It wasn't until the first court hearing, when the judge questioned Nyla’s
CHARLOTTE~•~My mouth opened and closed repeatedly, not knowing what to say. Alexander and I shared a glance, but neither of us could come up with words. It was careless of us to get into an argument within Nyla’s earshot.“Why are you guys fighting?” She asked again, looking at me. When I didn’t
CHARLOTTE~•~“What do you think I’m doing here, Charlotte?” Alexander asked casually.“Are you stalking me?” I hissed.“Who’s at the door, Char?” Lucy yelled from inside.“Nobody!” I yelled back and stepped outside completely, closing the door behind me.“I wouldn’t say stalking. I’m just keeping
