LOGINALEXANDER
~•~ I stared down at her, waiting for an explanation, waiting for her to tell me that she was drunk and didn’t know what she was doing, anything that could at least put me at ease, but she didn’t. Instead, she looked up at me and said, “This is fake, Alex.” “Fake?” I laughed. “That’s your explanation, that it’s fake?” “Look,” she seemed less angry than she was just a few minutes ago. “I know how it looks. I understand you’re angry at me because you believe I’ve cheated on you, but I didn’t. I did meet him that day, but it was only for dinner and the director as well as all our assistants were present. I didn’t kiss him. I was never even alone with him.” My tongue poked the inside of my cheek. Her words didn’t even make sense. “So everything is true except for the part that makes you look bad?” “You’re not hearing me, Alex!” “Oh, I am. And all I’m hearing is your lack of accountability, Charlotte. There’s tangible proof in front of you and you’re still denying it?” I shook my head in disappointment. “I didn’t expect this from you.” A tear rolled down her cheek, landing on her shirt, then another. Before I knew it, she was crying. “Someone is trying to slander me, Alex. This is not true, I promise.” I turned away from her. She knew her tears were my weakness and she knew how to use them to her advantage. “Why don’t you scroll and see the rest of the pictures then?” If it were just a kiss, I wouldn’t be this angry. I could have easily dismissed it. I could have pretended it never happened as long as she promised to stay away from him. I would never have brought it up, either, but it was much more than that. There were more pictures of them entering a hotel, both of them in a hotel room. Both of them getting undressed, not knowing they were being watched. At first, I’d dismissed the pictures as AI-generated pictures but they were way too detailed not to be true. The piercing on her back. The tattoos on the side of her waist and the side of her breasts. AI couldn’t be this thorough. “Please, Alex. I don’t know how these came about but I am certain it’s not me! I didn’t even drink! If I had slept with him, I would have remembered!” I turned back around to face her, but before I could say anything, her phone started ringing. She ignored it at first. “Aren’t you going to take that?” She wiped her tears with the back of her hand and brought out her phone from her pocket. My eyes went straight to the screen. A chuckle slipped past my lips when I saw who was calling. Talk about incredible timing. “Answer it.” She stared at me for a few seconds, no doubt contemplating whether to listen or not. When she realized it wasn’t worth fighting me over, she answered the call and put it on speaker. “H-hello?” She cleared her throat. “What’s up?” “Are you good? Your voice sounds different.” I rolled my eyes. He knew her voice enough to know when there was a change. Charlotte faked a laugh. “That’s what happens when I spend three months constantly singing.” Dave Brown laughed loudly even though it wasn’t that funny. “You singers are incredible.” My tongue poked the inside of my cheek, irritated by the unnecessary compliment. She avoided my eyes, uncomfortable as well. “Did you call for a reason?” “Oh yeah! I wanted to check if the news has been delivered to you? We’re the official cast.” “Oh,” she glanced at me. “I haven’t heard yet. Thanks for telling me.” “I guess the director saw our chemistry.” He chuckled. She cleared her throat again, knowing the call was doing nothing to help her case. “I’m busy right now. How about I call you later?” “Alright then. See you soon.” She hung up after that and looked at me. “I know that sounded sketchy…” I scoffed and walked away from her, walking further into the closet to find the shirt I originally came for. I took the first shirt I saw off its hanger and put it on. “Come on, Alex. Do you really believe I’ll cheat on you?” She followed me as I walked out of the closet. “I don’t know what to believe anymore, Charlotte.” “How about you start by believing your wife?” I didn’t respond because I didn’t know how to. How could I believe her when every piece of evidence was pointing towards cheating? How could I just take her world for it like a fool? Before those photos, I never would have believed she would cheat on me, but I didn’t know anymore. I’d acquired those photos at a very high price just because I didn’t want her reputation to be ruined. I had given her enough grace by not letting the paparazzi post them. I’d paid a lot to suppress the news. I knew she was just getting into acting. I didn’t want to ruin that for her, but she still found it hard to tell me the truth. I turned around to face her once more. She stopped walking before she could run into me. “Tell me something, Charlotte. Are you going to take that gig?” “What?” “Are you going to go through with it? Are you going to act with him?” She bit down on her bottom lip, staying quiet. Her silence was all I needed. “Of course,” I nodded. “Alex,” she teared up again. I shook my head, not wanting to hear any more. “Either you let go of the gig or we get divorced.”CHARLOTTE~•~Barely twenty-four hours after my lawyer filed a suit against Vanessa, my phone started buzzing nonstop.Vivian, my publicist, didn’t make my manager reveal the lawsuit, but she made sure to tip a known blogger about it and after they saw the filed case with evidence against her, the internet went crazy. That also meant everyone was calling me at once.I never told Lucy about suing Vanessa so I wasn’t surprised that she was among the hundreds of people trying to reach me at once. Even Dave was trying to get to me, making me wonder what he wanted to say. Was he going to plead for his fuck buddy? He sent a few messages but I didn’t bother checking them.Since everyone was trying to reach me at once and they couldn’t, they started trying to get to me through Alexander, then his team. I did not doubt that one had to do with Vanessa’s legal team. They were grasping for straws at this point. They most likely wanted to end the case before it probably began but I wasn’t going to
CHARLOTTE~•~“You have such a dirty mouth during sex.”Alexander chuckled, the sound vibrating through my body. “Did you wake up this morning thinking about sex with me?” He questioned, placing a kiss on my shoulder.“Considering I can feel you poking my leg, that isn’t so absurd, is it?”He adjusted, shifting his crotch away from my body, still keeping his arms wrapped around me. “Sorry. Morning wood.” He said. “It also doesn’t help that you’re incredibly sexy every second of the day.”That brought heat to my cheeks. I couldn’t fall for his seduction, not when Nyla’s favorite part of the day was waking me up. “You can go back to your room now.”Alexander groaned. “I thought this was our room now.”“You thought wrong, babe.”“Couples usually sleep together.” He pointed.“Good thing we aren’t a couple. We’re coparenting.”“Yeah?” I could hear the smugness in his voice before he even asked the question. “How come you didn’t say anything when I called you my wife last night?”Heat crawl
CHARLOTTE~•~The limo was waiting by the time we got outside. The driver opened the door and I got in before Alexander. I slid across the seat eagerly. The kiss we shared on the balcony was innocent, but I could feel the tension between us as we quickly exited the party.Alexander climbed in after me. The moment the door closed, we were in a world of our own. He didn’t even wait for the car to start moving. He reached for me, pulling me across the seat until I was straddling his lap.Our mouths met in a hungry kiss. This one wasn’t soft or reassuring like the one on the balcony. It was deep, urgent, and full of everything we’d been holding back all night. His hands gripped my hips, sliding up my thighs under the hem of my skirt.“Fuck, Charlotte,” he groaned against my lips. “You have no idea what you do to me.”I smiled into the kiss, my fingers threading through his hair. “I think I have some idea.”His tongue swept into my mouth as the limo started moving. But all I could focus o
CHARLOTTE~•~“So are we going to talk about what happened in there or are we going to wait until we get home?”We’d just arrived at the after-party that was being thrown by a musician I really respected. I didn’t want to go. My mood had already been ruined, but not attending would make me seem like a snob and I was still smoothing over my reputation so I had no choice.I couldn’t wait to go back to New York and continue living like a hermit for the rest of the year.“How about we greet a few people first?” I offered. “We can stay for thirty minutes then leave or talk. Your choice.”Alexander stared down at me. “I know you didn’t do anything with him,” he clarified. “I saw Vanessa leave so all three of you were there together. I’m just curious and well, concerned.”I didn’t for a second think he suspected of… fooling around with Dave. I just didn’t know how to bring up the topic. Alexander had basically implied that Dave abandoned me back then because of what I’d been going through. I
CHARLOTTE~•~I’d wanted to talk to Dave about our breakup that he’d disguised as a break, but not like this. I wanted to do it sometime when the two of us were alone, when there wasn’t another woman, and definitely not when we were in the ladies’ restroom. Now, however, I didn’t even want to be around him anymore. Nothing had ever been serious between us and he didn’t owe me any explanation. I relayed that to him immediately. “You don’t need to explain,” I said, not stopping even for a second. But Dave thought this was the perfect time to talk so he placed a hand on my arm and dragged me back.“You’re going to make a scene.” I hissed.Thankfully, there was no media coverage of the inside of the event. “I just—“ he sounded helpless. As if he hadn’t been advocating for Vanessa less than an hour ago, asking me why I was rude to her. “Please let me explain.”I looked at the door. If I took three more steps, I could open it and go out to meet Alexander, but the thing with Dave was going
CHARLOTTE~•~My head automatically drew back at the revelation. “He left the party with you?”She pursed her lips and as if she wanted to emphasize it even more or rub it in, she said. “So if you don’t know that we fucked that night, why are you catching an attitude with me?”“An attitude, you— oh my god, this conversation is ridiculous.” I wanted to tell her that I’d prefer not to see her face at all. I wanted to tell her that I hadn’t forgotten about all the vile things she paid people to write about me. I wanted to tell her about the upcoming lawsuit, but my lawyer thought it was best to catch her off guard. Alexander’s lawyer too.But I was also still trying to wrap my head around the fact that she’d slept with Dave on the night of her party. And he still asked me out a week after that.I mean, I did sleep with Alexander that night as well, but I didn’t try to make Dave my boyfriend merely a week later. Did he even like me? Did he only ask me out of guilt? Was that why it was so
ALEXANDER~•~“Your flight was supposed to land two days ago.”I looked up from my phone to see my father standing in the doorway of his office, his arms crossed behind his back. I held back a sigh. I’d come just to say hi to my mother because she always wanted me around, but I didn’t find her. App
CHARLOTTE~•~I let out a breath as the door closed behind Alexander. I looked at Dave apologetically. “I’m so sorry about that.”“It’s fine, you couldn’t have been able to predict that,” he said as he found his shirt and started putting it on. Alexander had managed to kill the mood. He sat on the
CHARLOTTE~•~I could feel Alexander’s stare drilling a hole in my back. What was his problem? He didn’t possibly think I would give him the time of day, did he? Was he expecting me to fall over my feet and greet him after the way we ended?I liked to pretend he was never in my life even if the evi
ALEXANDER ~•~I could swear I wasn’t seeing properly because what were the fucking odds?I’d gone to California for a business trip that only lasted three nights. It was the last night and somehow, I ran into Charlotte? Even worse, she was with the man I loathed. I knew nothing about him, but I st
