I ran through the long, empty hallway, looking for stairs. The gods must have been on my side today, since no guards patrolled this floor. Unfortunately, it didn't mean I knew where I was running. I could only pray that I would find an exit relying on luck alone…

I noticed stairs at the end of the hallway and quickened my steps. I was about to take a turn when I heard voices coming from below. “Shit,” I gritted out, rushing to hide in one of the alcoves.

Pressing my back against the wall, I hid in the shadows and listened to the steps and voices. A group of guards passed me by, none of them paying attention to the sides of the hallway. I released a shaky breath. It looked like I hadn't run out of luck, but would it be enough to escape?

Carefully, I leaned out from the alcove and darted to the stairs. I stormed down, trying to step as lightly as I could. I knew I had to get to the ground floor, but what then? I had tried to memorize the route Seth had led me before, but the guards surr

  • My Fated Enemy   About the King's Army

DEARONI felt a violent surge of pain. The pain wasn't my own; I knew it was Kaira's. I didn't know why this strange connection appeared between us, but it only grew stronger. I felt her. I knew when she was suffering and when she was scared. The greatest wave of agony had come two nights ago, and knowing that those fuckers had hurt her had nearly driven me insane. I'd roared to the heavens as my wolf called for blood. Now I sought vengeance, at the same time praying to the gods, begging them to protect her.We had crossed the Farindoria's border at dusk, and now, as the darkness swallowed all roads, we had no choice but to find a place where we could stay for the night. The urge not to stop was strong. I would have stormed through the roads until we'd reach Thaloris, but Nazo was my voice of reason.“We're all exhausted,” he'd said. “And we'd need strength to face those fuckers and rescue Kaira.”I knew he was right. Should we go there in our current state, we would get ourselves kil

  • My Fated Enemy   Reckless Move

I sat on the bed watching the wounds on my wrists heal at miraculous speed. I hadn't thought I would gain allies here, but perhaps luck was on my side… at least for now. I wasn't sure how that silver-immunity potion would work, but anything that would lessen the poison effects was more than welcome.Unfortunately, the fact that I had an ally didn't change much in my current situation. I was still locked in Seth's chamber, and the bastard would come here soon. “Survive,” I muttered, trying to summon my courage.I knew that surviving in this place would require acting obedient. I hated it, but my options were limited. I had already checked every corner in this chamber, and I was devastatingly certain that the main door was the only way out. Even if the room wasn't guarded and I could somehow unlock the door, I wouldn't know where to run. And even knowing how to leave the castle, where would I go from there?“Stay calm and pretend,” I murmured, putting on the horrific dress. This one was

  • My Fated Enemy   Defenseless

KAIRAMy eyes were closing from hours of torment and exhaustion, but the pain caused by the silver burn kept me from drifting into unawareness. Those fucking silver cuffs on my hands weakened me, turning me into the she-wolf Seth wanted: helpless and obedient.I hated it. I hated riding with him. I hated the feel of his hand on my stomach. The feel of his body against my back filled me with disgust. I could barely stand the way he whispered into my ear, telling me about all his sick fantasies and what he would do to me as soon as we arrived at the castle in Thaloris. All kinds of fears had been crawling inside my head. I had tried to clamp down on the dark scenarios, but they counterstruck as soon as we crossed the border of Farindoria. My hopes began to slip away, giving way to panic. This was a different kind of fear than the one I'd felt when Darcio had kidnapped me, and I knew why. Seth didn't want me for the magic within me. Perhaps Auretta considered me as a strong pawn on her c

  • My Fated Enemy   Out of Time

I could bet that Auretta had never thought that her mind-link-blocking herbs would work to our advantage. Since Vulir and Morvan couldn't communicate, we managed to bring them to the audience hall before they informed their spies or established a common version of the story. Not that any of their lies would work right now…Angela and I sat on one side of the table. The opposite side was reserved for the two fuckers who were about to enter this room. “You don't have to be here,” I muttered, glancing at Angela. She huffed and rolled back her shoulders. “Of course, I have to be here. Those fuckers made a lot of shitty decisions over the years. They played with wolves' lives. Now it's payback time.”A hint of a smirk curved my lips. “Just remember, you don't have to stay here when things begin to get ugly.”She gave me a look. “Trust me, there's nothing I want more than to watch those two assholes bleed.”The doors opened, and Vulir and Morvan entered the room. Their eyes landed on Angela

  • My Fated Enemy   Spies and Traitors

DEARONI knew that something was off. I felt it in my gut, and then I realized something was blocking my mind link. I rushed out of my chamber only to find pale Nazo standing in the corridor.“I was just looking for you, Alpha.” Nervous laughter laced his voice. “I have news to tell you,” he said a little tensely. My mind link was still blocked, but it seemed like he knew about it. “Did something happen?”“Not really.” His expression told me the exact opposite. “I have a standard report for you.”I had no idea what kind of “standard report” he meant, but I didn't question it. “Let's go,” I muttered, gesturing for him to follow me.A moment later, we entered my study. Nazo carefully closed the door behind us. Then he turned to me and drew a deep breath. “Alpha… Just try to stay calm,” he started. My hands fisted in an instant. “What happened?”Nazo stepped back, as if to gain more distance. “Kaira has left Oryndale. She's basically been abducted… by Prince Seth.”A feral growl burst ou
