Rain pelted the runway as the private jet roared to life, slicing through the night like a silver ghost. Alma and Ezra, soaked and breathless, climbed aboard just as another explosion rocked the villa behind them.

Roman slammed the hatch shut. “That’s twice now I’ve had to save you during your own honeymoon. I’m charging double.”

Alma ignored him. She clutched the glowing cube tightly in her hands, its light pulsating like a living heart. Ezra’s arm was around her waist, steadying her, though his own shoulder bled from grappling with the drone.

They barely had time to breathe.

Petra’s voice came through the secure comms.

“You’re airborne. Good. But we’ve got bigger problems. I decrypted the last layer of Sapphire’s files. Alma, Ezra Phoenix isn’t just an AI. It’s sentient. A ghost in the code. And it’s been watching you since day one.”

Alma’s fingers tightened around the cube. “How do we stop something that’s everywhere?”

Roman turned from the cockpit, brow furrowed. “You don’t. You o

The silence that followed his appearance was thick, almost sentient.Alma stared, gun raised, but her fingers didn’t tighten on the trigger. Her heart pounded. The resemblance was unmistakable. Same eyes, same bone structure. But his presence, his aura was darker, colder, honed like a scalpel. He stepped forward slowly, bare feet echoing on the metal floor of the lab, frost clinging to the hem of his black cargo pants. His movements were calculated, deliberate.“Alma,” he said, voice smooth but laced with venom. “It’s strange meeting yourself, isn’t it?”Julian flinched beside her. “Who are you?”The man tilted his head. “I’m what she was supposed to be. The perfect weapon. The unbroken one.”Sebastian stepped forward, leaning on his cane. “ARES I terminated your chamber years ago.”ARES smirked. “You tried. But Hekate saved me. Trained me. Improved me.”Alma finally spoke. “You're not me.”He turned to her, a glint of mockery in his eyes. “I know. I’m better.”The ground trembled fai

The air in the private clinic was crisp, sterilized, and eerily silent. Snow powdered the balcony outside, muting the world into a blanket of white. Inside, the soft hum of medical monitors broke the hush.Alma sat at the foot of the hospital bed, eyes rimmed with sleeplessness, fingers absently scrolling through encrypted files on her tablet. The only sounds were Sebastian's slow, steady breathing and the soft crackle of logs burning in the fireplace. She hadn’t left his side in over twenty-four hours.Julian was resting in the room next door. The doctors had stabilized his vitals, but whatever Hekate had done to him in that compound, chemically, psychologically, left shadows behind his eyes that Alma recognized. The same kind of darkness that used to live in hers. And yet, there was something more. Something urgent. She tapped open a new folder: Protocol V: Project EchoCore. It was buried deep in the Von Richter Foundation's closed archive, under false flags and shell labels. Sebast

Location: Northern Sudan, 47 miles from the Lakam Refugee CompoundThe old Blackhawk chopper rattled through the burning sky, blades slicing the desert wind like a whispered warning. Alma sat in silence, dressed in tactical black, eyes locked on the coordinates glowing on her wrist console. Across from her, Sebastian Von Richter, unflinching, cool as ever, but with that storm behind his eyes only she could ever read.“This is insane,” she muttered. “We’re flying into a war zone with three ex-MI6 operatives and a billionaire who hasn’t touched a gun in years.”Sebastian arched a brow. “Correction. I haven’t touched a gun in public.”He reached beneath his seat and pulled out a velvet-lined case.Inside gleamed a custom gold Desert Eagle, engraved with the Von Richter crest. She exhaled. “Of course you have a designer death toy.”He smirked. “You have your ways. I have mine.”The headset buzzed.“Thirty seconds to drop zone,” the pilot announced. “Thermals show movement, two armored veh

Monaco, Private Estate, 3 Weeks Until Hekate’s ActivationThe Mediterranean sun bathed Alma’s skin as she stepped onto the marble balcony of the Von Richter estate, a 17th-century castle refurbished into a luxury fortress by the richest and most mysterious man in Europe, Sebastian Von Richter, the only billionaire powerful enough to bankroll the destruction of Hekate. And Alma’s ex-fiancé.The air was too perfect. Too controlled. Just like Sebastian.“You haven’t changed,” Alma muttered as she watched the staff tend to the garden below. “Still pretending to be a king.”A voice behind her made her freeze.“I never needed to pretend, Alma. I was born one.”She turned slowly. There he stood tall, dark-haired, in a sharp navy suit with no tie, his tan skin still golden from sailing the Aegean. His icy blue eyes scanned her like a bank vault opening. And closing.Sebastian Von Richter. The man who once taught her how to kill and how to love.“I didn’t come here to reminisce,” she said cold

Northern Arctic Circle, Coordinates: 82.6° N, 62.3° W21 Days Until Hekate ActivationThe cold sliced through Alma’s thermal suit like knives. She stood at the edge of the world, icy winds howling across endless white as the transport copter disappeared into the snowstorm behind her.Beside her, Ember tightened the scarf around her face, her breath forming clouds of fog in the frigid air. Ezra scanned the desolate horizon through polarized goggles. In front of them, half-buried beneath layers of ancient ice, rose a steel monolith.Obsidian-black.Featureless.And humming with life.“The Eye of Hekate,” Alma muttered. The structure had no doors, no markings. Just a faint symbol etched at its base: the sigil of the forgotten project.Ezra approached it with a pulse scanner. “It’s sealed tight. No visible entry.”Alma stepped forward. As her gloved palm touched the surface, the metal shifted. A ring of light expanded outward, reading her biometrics. Then, without warning, the monolith cr

The peace didn’t last long.Three days after the collapse of Dominion, Alma awoke to the sound of waves and the scent of salt, only to find a strange drone hovering outside her beachfront window. It was shaped like a hummingbird, delicate, silent, and definitely not from their security team.Alma’s instincts kicked in. She grabbed the pistol beneath her pillow, rolled across the bed, and took cover behind the reinforced headboard. With one precise shot, the drone dropped.By the time she reached the sand, Ember and Ezra were already there, weapons drawn.“What was that?” Ember asked, eyeing the wreckage.Alma bent down, brushing sand from the drone's mangled body. Her eyes narrowed as a tiny projector on its side blinked red.“Message drone,” she murmured. “Military grade. Possibly Russian design but the encryption? That’s private sector.”Ezra squinted. “It’s locked with a biometric trigger. Only opens for you.”Alma hesitated, then placed her thumb on the scanner. The drone sparked
