Carol sniffled loudly.

It wasn’t the kind of quiet, ashamed sniffling that came with real tears—but the dramatic kind. Theatrical. Timed.

She swiped at her cheek with the back of her hand, smudging her mascara as wet streaks ran down her face, lips trembling just enough to make her look fragile.

“Enzo…” she began softly, her voice thin and cracking, like glass about to give. “I didn’t mean to yell. I just—I was frightened. She’s been so… aggressive lately. I didn’t feel safe.”

The words hung in the air like poison, seeping in slowly.

I didn’t move. My chest was rising and falling rapidly, but I stayed silent, knowing nothing I said now would reach him. Not yet.

Enzo exhaled—a long, slow breath as if he were trying to push the weight of the entire evening off his shoulders. He pressed two fingers to his temple and closed his eyes, like he was tired of everything. Of both of us.

When he opened his eyes, they were distant.

“Go wait in my room, Carol,” he said finally, voice quiet, heavy.

But you could've just called or texted.” I said, brushing past him. My shoulder knocked against his chest, but Enzo didn’t move. His pulse was hammering in his neck. “Bella—” “I was worried” I nearly shouted. “But you stayed with her.” “I had to!” His voice cracked like thunder. I turned sharply, eyes blazing. “No. You chose to. She has family Enzo than WHY YOU!?” “I didn’t sleep a goddamn second!” he barked, stepping into my space. “You think I wanted to be there? You think I didn’t want to be with you? But I got a call, Bella. A call where a girl was screaming in my ear, blood in her mouth and fear in her voice, and she said your name. Your name. What the hell was I supposed to do?” I looked at him, breath stuttering, eyes swimming with unshed tears. “You were supposed to tell me.you said you–loved me.” “I didn’t want to scare you!” he roared. “God, belle, don’t you get it? I’m losing my mind! Every second I’m not with you, I’m afraid someone’s going to take you away from

Time slowed. The soft ticking of the clock on the far wall became the only sound in the apartment. Every tick landed like a blow to her ribs. Every passing minute stretched and clawed at her patience. Evelyn didn’t move from the couch. She sat with her knees pulled to her chest, arms wrapped tightly around herself, eyes unfocused on the floor. Her mind ran in vicious circles—each one ending in the same question: Why didn’t he tell me? She trusted him. She had believed him when he said she was the one. That it was her. Not Carol. Not the past. Her. But now? Now she couldn’t stop imagining him in Carol’s home. Wiping blood from her forehead. Holding her while she cried. Whispering reassurances that once belonged to her. Maybe it was wrong of her to feel this way. Maybe it wasn’t jealousy. Maybe it was fear. Fear that no matter how much she loved him, some part of his heart was still caught in another time. With another girl. Maybe he’ll never be fully mine. Her eyes b

It was too quiet. Evelyn stood on the balcony of Enzo’s penthouse, arms wrapped around her waist despite the warm breeze. The lights of the city blinked below like stars that had forgotten how to burn. Something wasn’t right. She hadn’t seen Enzo since the evening before One of the maids told her he left late at night—no explanation, no message. No goodnight kiss. No teasing smirk. Not even a warning glance. And now it was nearly 10:00 pm If he was going to be late, he always called me or he could message me atleast. She pressed her thumb against the pendant around her neck—a gift from Enzo weeks ago, heavy and cool against her skin. He never disappeared like this. Not without letting her know. Not after everything they’d been through, he can't just do this. She turned her head at the sound of footsteps—only to find Aaron. He froze when he saw her. “You okay?” he asked carefully. Evelyn gave a tight smile. “Yeah. Just thinking.” "Is Enzo home?" he asked. Evelyn shook her he

The morning sunlight crept in like it had forgotten the night before even happened. It was a struggle for me to get up. I had to take medicine for the pain. We did it not once or twice. I lost count after 5th time. Enzo was hungry. Like starving. I passed out the last time. I woken up wrapped in Enzo’s arms, his breathing steady, his presence warm. And yet… there was something tugging at me, a sliver of tension I couldn’t name. I didn’t realize he’d entered the room until I felt the soft brush of his lips against my temple. “Morning,” he murmured, his voice rough with sleep. I smiled, a little too quickly. “Morning.” He eyed me. “You okay? Are you in pain?” “I’m fine,” I said, sipping. “Just… tired.” Enzo nodded, stepping around me. He took me downstairs in his arms and sat me on the counter. He started to cook for me. He moved with quiet efficiency, like he’d done this before—eggs, toast, a little too much butter. I watched him from the counter, chin resting on my

The car ride back from shopping had been... light. Unexpectedly so. Every time I laughed and Enzo, turned just enough to glimpse it. I was holding up a ridiculous scarf I insisted on buying, claiming it was “hideous in a charming way.” He didn't argue. He just let me have the moment, watching me like someone watching sunlight after too many stormy days. But the ease didn’t last. The moment we stepped into the foyer, My fingers still curled loosely around the handles of the glossy shopping bags, everything shifted. Carol was sitting on the living room couch like a throne—arms folded, lips tight, perfectly put together as if she’d never left at all. “I was beginning to think you’d forgotten I was in your life,” she said sweetly, voice dipped in venom. Enzo stilled. I did too, but only for a second. Then I walked past Carol, completely silent, setting my bags down on a chair I refused to acknowledge this woman’s presence. Enzo’s jaw ticked. “Carol. What are you doing here?” Carol

My legs were jelly. I hadn’t even realized how breathless I was until I tried to sit up—and failed, collapsing back against the pillows with a soft, dazed laugh. Every part of me felt warm and tingly, My skin still humming from Enzo’s touch. The room smelled like sweat and sex and something sweeter—satisfaction, maybe. Or longing, still not quite fed. Enzo brushed his fingers down My thigh, featherlight, like he didn’t want to startle me. “Don’t move,” he murmured, kissing My temple. “I’ll be right back.” I blinked, watching him disappear into the bathroom, still shirtless and sinfully smug. A minute later, he returned with a wet cloth in one hand and that same teasing grin on his face. He knelt between My legs like it was the most natural thing in the world. I flushed. “Enzo, I can—” “Nope,” he said, gently nudging My thighs apart. “You can’t even sit up. Let me take care of you.” “But it’s embarrassing…” “Oh?” He glanced up, eyes gleaming. “Weren’t embarrassed when you were m
