Chelsea and I found a picnic table in the small park that Horton has and sat down. It was a peaceful and sunny day today so it wouldn't look too weird for us to sit here. "So, I'm sorry about your grams." Chelsea frowned at the drink she was holding. "I'm fine. Really." "I wish you would've talked to me." "I know and I'm sorry I didn't." Chelsea didn't say much after that and looked behind me while I kept an eye open behind her. But we had to make it look like we were talking so no one would know this was a trap. So we talked about what school was like and how good it was to catch up. Before long, a red laser was pointed at my chest. I sat there frozen looking around for the source. "Get down," Chelsea yelled yanking my arm making me fall. "Their watching." "They're wanting to kill me now," I whispered. "Let's go." I pulled her up and we ran around the restrooms. I took out my phone and dialed brans number. But he didn't answer. I tried Jerry, no answer. "Maybe they saw the l
We slowly made our way through the building not completely sure where to go. "Follow the shots." The doctor whispered. "What's your name anyways?" I looked around a corner and moved up. "Amber." "Well, Amber. I'm Laura." I peered around the next corner and seen a group of men running with guns raised. I reached back taking the gun from Amber and raising it up ready to shoot. I walked around and waited to see if someone else shot. When they did I moved in that direction. Peering around corners and waiting was getting old, but I promised Amber I'd get her home safely. I missed a person who was seemingly walking slower than the others and he shot hitting me in the arm. "Oh." I groaned squeezing it. I tightened my handle on the gun raising it at the man and squeezing the trigger. The body landed with a thud. "Here." Amber took my arm and took some gauze from her pocket wrapping it up. "Thanks," I muttered. I peered back around seeing several men appear by the dead body. They wer
Christmas Eve "Did you get everything?" Amber yelled from opening of the trunk."I think so." I sighed. "I'm like a huge whale, can you double-check?" I chuckled handing her the list. She skimmed through it and checked the bags. "You're missing a cake." "Oh, crap!" I took out my phone and called to the deli. "Hello, can you make a Christmas cake? It's for a party tonight." "Yes. We actually have an extra, if you'd like." The woman answered."I'll be there soon." I hung up and climbed into ambers car and buckled up. "Deli?" She asked climbing into the drivers' side. I nodded. It's been good seeing Amber again, it's been months and we were both doing good. She moved to Horton valley a month ago, and we've been spending time together. She even signed on with bran as an extra doctor. We pulled up to the curb of the deli and I climb out and walked inside."Hello. I called a minute ago about the cake?" I told the woman behind the counter. She smiled up at me and held up a finger. She
"Give me your money old man!" The thug shouted. The old man shook his head."Give it, or so help me God I will shoot you!" The old man decided it was best to just do as he was told. He had a wife at home that must be worried sick. He took out his wallet and with his shaking hand, handed it to the thug. The thug kicked the old man onto the cold hard ground and ran around the corner farther into the alley. The old man slowly stood up and leaned against the brick wall trying to catch his breath. He heard several gunshots behind him and took off running back onto Main Street too afraid to look back. He ran for ten blocks, not even bothering to catch his breath at this point. When he made it home he leaned up against his gate outside resting and catching his breath finally before entering his home. Before he walked to the door, there was a red car sitting outside in the driveway. His daughter had come to visit, which means his granddaughter was just inside. He always got excited for h
"Laura sweetheart, are you up?" My grandma has been my alarm for the past twelve years. Today is my eighteenth birthday with one last official day of school to go! My grandpa who has been my rock passed two years ago on my birthday. It's been hard managing everything and trying to help my grandmay around the house. He was everything to me. He protected me when my mother wouldn't. I miss him so much. "Yea grams. Getting dressed." I called back. I picked through my closet trying to decide what to wear. "Grams?" "Yes dear?" She asked flinging my door open and sticking her head inside. "Can you help me?" I asked pointing to my closet. She chuckled and entered my room. She walked to my closet and scratched her silver hair thinking. "Here. It's still brand new." She handed me a black mini skirt with a pair of red leggings and a black tank top. For the shoes she threw me my knee high black boots. "You have some serious style grams." I chuckled giving her a hug and a kiss to the cheek.
The bowling alley was packed full of teenagers. Five people to a lane. Me and Chelsea went to an empty one in the back corner, soon three other people filed in behind us. Mark, Nathan, and Izzy. I noticed them all from math class. They were a pretty close knit group, always sticking together. Basically the nerdy group. Chelsea sat down to type in the names. "Whose first?" She asked."I'll go!" Izzy chimed."Then I will." Chelsea said. "I guess I can go third." I shrugged."Ok. Mark and Nathan?" Chelsea asked. They both shrugged. So she put Mark down then Nathan goes last. Izzy was a pretty good bowler. She got three strikes. I got five and Mark and Nathan didn't care for the game so they got gutters almost every time. Chelsea won with a full sheet of strikes and I was second. Afterwards we walked over to the small arcade. "Dude!" Chelsea smacked my arm. "Isn't that your mom!?" She said pointing to the entrance. "Oh great. And her psycho boyfriend!" She grabbed my arm pulling me
When the doctor lady appeared the next morning I couldn't help but ask her, "Who is Bran? He said I'd figure it out, but I'm having a hard time. I don't know him." She chuckled lightly. "Everyone knows Bran.""Well I don't. So help me out?" "No can do. If he wants you to figure it out, then you have to work on it yourself." "But-"She shook her head. "I'm sorry sweetheart, I can't help you." I left it at that. I'll have to turn to the internet then. "Do you have Wi-Fi here?" "Yea. Here's the password." She wrote it out on a piece of paper and handed it to me.I typed in Bran. Nothing popped up. "Does he have a last name!?" I said sounding annoyed."Can't tell you that either. Good luck." She winked and chuckled leaving the room. Why can't anyone help me!? Might as well call Chelsea and my grams so their not worried. Later in the day, still nothing on Bran. And I mean absolutely NOTHING! I'm getting annoyed so I threw my phone on the ground. Bran walked into the room after hear
After hanging up with Sunny I went back to my grams. I decided to leave her how she was. It's evidence and it was best not to get my fingerprints on everything. I've watched a lot of crime shows to know you never touch anything on a crime scene, otherwise fingers will be pointed at you. Police pulled up outside and entered the house. I was in tears leaning over my grams lifeless body sobbing and telling her I'd find out who did this and I loved her. i guess my tears and pain won out over my anger. Before the police pulled me away to examine her I whispered "say hi to gramps for me." They put outside on the police car. They give me a blanket. A paramedic truck was sitting outside examining my arm from where I tore my IV out. Soon, Sunny pulled up. She had my phone in hand. She handed it a police officer and made her way over to me. "You ok?" She folded her arm over my shoulder."Not even close to being ok. But I'll manage." Tears were still running down my cheeks. "Bran is on his w
