Chapter 4

Darius and Jade have been dating for 4 years now starting off in high school being the power couple as he was the quarterback so to them it was a match made in Heaven. Normally by 25 you should have found your mate but unfortunately this hasn’t been the case for the prince and now he has decided that Jade will be his chosen mate. This idea has always been a nightmare to me as she was my tormentor for near enough all my time at high school, the reason for it was just because I was a werewolf not a Lycan. Just as I was finishing off my pancakes Poppy walked into the room looking very glamorous as always, she is the spitting image of her mother but instead of blonde hair she has brown. “Are you ready to go?” She asked glancing in my direction, “Yeah, I’m just going to get my purse and jacket.” I replied as I was getting up from the table. “Goodbye Julius and Kitana, I’ll see you later” I said walking towards the door.

“HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO OUR KING AND QUEEN IN SUCH A MANNER WOLF!!!” Is all I heard from behind me from Jade who was now standing up from the sofa staring at me with such an angry look on her face. “Jade, SHUT UP” Julius bellowed “She is family, and she is allowed to speak to us like family, YOU on the other hand need to address as your majesties, we ARE NOT FAMILY!!” He yelled further making Jade’s eyes well up and she then ran out of the room barging into me as she passed, knocking me to the floor nearly but I landed on a different hard surface of Darius who caught me quick as a flash.

“T t thank you” I stuttered as I was trying to stand up and away from Darius who was looking at me with a glint in his eyes, there was this strange feeling pulling me to move closer to him. As I went to take a step towards him there was a low warning growl which came from him, and I froze just staring at him to see if I could get a read or see anything that would be an indication as to why this has happened. “Be careful next time wolf, stay out of Jade’s way have you got that” he said in a whisper shout close enough to my ear that only I would be able to hear it despite everyone else in the room who had powerful Lycan hearing, I shuddered as goosebumps started to appear on my arms with him being so close to me.

I was in complete shock with how my body reacted to being in his arms and having him so close to me, there was a loud coughing sound of someone clearing their throat to get my attention or that of the room. I blinked a few times to come out of my daze to see that Darius had left a little while ago and stood in his place was Ryder waving his hand in front of my face to see if anyone I would respond, “oh thank god, I thought you had become a statue” Ryder joking said as I looked at him with a puzzled look on my face. “How long was I just staring into space for?” I asked hoping it wasn’t more than a few seconds. “About 5 minutes, I came in as Darius was leaving the room to follow Jade” He replied. ‘Damn it!! I bet I looked like a right idiot in front of Ryder now and shit what happened to Poppy as we need to get going soon’. I thought to myself still slightly coming round from my little daydream.

“Aurora, are you finally ready to leave yet? I’m waiting in the car out the front for you”. Came through my mind-link, “Yeah, just grabbing my jacket now and heading to you now sorry” I replied whilst walking towards the door, luckily, I already had my jacket in my hall closet at the end of the East wing, so I didn’t need to walk far to grab it and keep Poppy waiting any longer. As I went to the leave the Royal Suite I turned towards Ryder “It’s nice to see you again, can we catch up when I get home after shopping with Poppy” I asked with a smile and slightly rolling my eyes, “Sure no worries” Ryder said with a mocking tone again as he knows how much I hate shopping. I walked out of the room and towards the East wing closet, grabbed my jacket since it was a little chiller in the mornings since I’ve not had my 1^st shift but hopefully this will all change after the weekend and my 1^st shift. I ran down the back stairs towards the entrance as I knew Poppy would wait there for me as its closer to my room if I forgot anything and needed to go back, as I opened the door, I saw her sat in the black Lamborghini smiling in my direction. “I thought we would enjoy the ride and might be a little bit of fun”. She said with the biggest cheesiest grin, I just climbed in the car rolling my eyes at her knowing that this is her way of trying to cheer me up. Looking at her we burst out laughing and she started to drive towards the large mall outside of town.
