Alice's POV:
Despite my constant resistance, Aaron took me back. Even if I had been making it seem like I didn't want to go, I was kind of glad he did. I didn't really want to be left alone with his stupid family of predators. The drive back to Aaron's palace was quiet and quick- mainly because neither of us said a word to the other and we were both immersed in our own thoughts. I had made Aaron promise to not read my mind without my permission though. It was getting kind of annoying you know, him invading my personal space and all.

After picking up the black velvet box, I opened it without thinking to see what was inside. My eyes widened when I looked at the diamond glinting at me.
