Chapter Nine: Tension

Mallory’s POV

The command hangs in the air like a death sentence, and before I can comprehend the situation I am in, one of the wolf-men at the center lunges at me before changing into a large brown wolf.

I am in such a frantic peril that I turn my back against the incoming attack as I let out a guttural scream.

But in that heartbeat of terror, I feel the movement next to me in a blurred motion and I quickly turn—curiosity has overtaken me—as I witness the aggressor fly from my view and collide straight to the wall.

The large werehound slides down and collapses on the floor, unconscious.

Russell stands before me, his leg is in the air, and poses a perfect kick.

He doesn’t stop from there, he turns to face the remaining black-suit men and swiftly kicks the nearest one, a psychotic large grin plastered on his face.

Seeing that as a warning, the men back away, fear ingrained in their bodies as they catch sight of his animalistic side.
