Saul’s POV

Fifteen years.

It took us fifteen years searching for the impossible. Fated Mates are now a relic of the past since we took over the humans and conquered the world. Since then, we have the freedom of choice, we choose our mates based on our desires and the Moon Goddess allows it.

It has been like this for decades.

Until the Moon Goddess decided to bring back “fated mates” through Russell DeLucci’s test.

If I had to be honest, I almost gave up but seeing the young master’s perseverance from even marrying candidates of his father's choosing, I am more than impressed and prouder to serve under him.

He continues to resist against marriage and despite years of being without a Luna in our pack, we still reign superior in the depths of the underground world.

Yet, today was a complete shock for me.

As I stare at the young human child being physically checked by our private doctors, I clench my fists.

Why does his fated mate have to be human, of all things? Why, Moon Goddess?

If word spreads to the other packs, DeLucci Family will be deemed a traitor of all wolves. We will be the target until every one of us will die in the most excruciating way.

As the advisor of Russell DeLucci, what should I do?

“There you are, Saul!”

My breath hitches, turning to see the current Alpha, Johann DeLucci, limping his way in the hallway. His crane reverberates the cemented floors until he reaches my proximity.

“I’ve been looking all over my son, where is he?!”

A scowl. This will not end well.

“I thought you’ve bumped into each other at the manor, sir,” I say with my usual calm demeanor.

He scoffs. “So soon? BAH! That rotten fool broke his promise after he made bold remarks this evening.”

“That’s because he has found his fated mate, sir.”

His eyes widen. “Are my ears gone deaf or am I hallucinating? Did you say he has found her?”

I reluctantly nod. “Yes, sir.”

With that, his face brightens as he smacks my back with a grin. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?! Come, let’s return to my home ASAP!”

I inwardly gulp, torn between hiding it until the Alpha finds it himself or to give a valid explanation as to why I couldn't leave the hospital...yet.

“My deepest apologies but I have to keep an eye on this child until she is awake from her sleep.”

In the end, I chose not to leave this human child alone.

At that moment, Alpha Johann’s eyes shift behind my shoulder to see the little human asleep on the hospital bed. It seems his sense of smell has also degraded due to his age. When he recognizes the scent, his nose sniffing the child's scent around the hospital room, his face turns to fury.

“Saul Baron,” he says with a voice of authority. “I demand an explanation right now.”

Mallory’s POV

“You’re no different from them!” I yell, squirming from the clutches of his hands, grasping my shoulders tight. “I’m just a personal plaything of yours if you mark me, right?”

“Where did you get that idea, hmm?” He nibbles on my earlobe which makes me squeamish. “But then again, making you a plaything  seems much more interesting, don’t you think so?”

“Let go of me, you fucker!” My violent nature has resurfaced as I wildly thrash around his grip. “I am not going to be marked by you!”

“Didn’t you say that you’ll cooperate with me?”

I freeze, my eyes widen as I’ve completely forgotten about our agreement.

“Y-yes, I did.” I shake my head. “But I didn’t know this would lead to this!” I would have thought he was joking when he said he would declare me as his fiancee to his father, but to think I would turn into their kind!

“What’s wrong with being a wolf? Even if you aren’t pure, your senses and strength will be more superior than your kind.”

“No! I’d rather die than turn into one!” I seethe, my glare turns more hostile as I clench my teeth.

Russell gives me an odd, distant stare before he sighs. I feel his grip loosening yet I remain lying on the couch as his expression catches me off-guard.

“You take death lightly like it means nothing.” He grimaces before he adds, “As a matter of fact, you were willing to throw your life away with your kid sister that easily.” He pauses for a moment. “So, why?”

His voice sounds melodic and oddly genuine. It seems out of character that a wolf notoriously known for his violence shows this side of him.

“None of your business,” I mumble, averting my gaze from him.

It was a misuse of my words that triggered a part of him.

A cold sweat drops from the cheek and I remain still. There is an odd silence between us in this room until my ears catch the low, throaty laugh from the violent wolf, like a haunting melody weaving through the shadows. It echoes throughout the foyer—ominous yet seductive, sending shivers down my spine.

His luscious green eyes remain distant, detached from the wide grin on his lips. The injuries I’ve marked on his face are longer present, showing off a full view of his attractive masculinity.

I won’t deny the fucker is hot but he’s still a damn wolf.

And a wolf I shouldn’t mess with.

HIs hand reaches to my face as I feel the soothing strokes from its warmth. I suddenly feel this eerily chill of being comfortable by the touch of a wolf.

It frightens me to the core.

“I’ll remind you again: you’ll get your kid sister back as long as you’re fucking eager to cooperate with me.”

I bite my lower lip and when he notices it, his thumb makes its way to caress the chapped lines, trail it slowly until it teasingly plays inside my lips.

The touch heightens a feeling I shouldn’t experience when I’m overwhelmed with anger and fear.

“Then, what do you want from me?” I gulp, turning my head to avoid his thumb.

His mouth goes to my ear as he whispers, “I’m sure as hell know you know what I want, dollface.” The fucker knows how to tease a woman.

Yet, my whole body quivers, anticipating for something more…something that he can give me right now.

An odd sensation that I couldn’t put my finger on—it’s like a trance, a hypnotism that makes me yearn for him.

I fucking blame his stupid handsome face. Yeah, that might be the reason for this uncanny occurrence.

We stare at each other for a brief moment before our lips crash into a searing kiss once more.

  • My Human Mate Rejects Me   Chapter Ten: Reunited

Mallory’s POV “LILIAN!” With a loud call, I barge inside her assigned room and here she is, wide awake and lying comfortably on the hospital bed. When she sees me, her wide innocent eyes raise as she gives a cute gasp. “M-Mallory?” She attempts to raise her body but with the dextrose IV on the back of her hand, she is rendered glued to the bed. I couldn’t help but rush to her side as I give her a tight, heartful embrace. “I’m so sorry, I’m terribly sorry, Lilian!”Feeling her warm small body, I feel so relieved that my sister is here, alive and well! I feel her whole body tremble at the embrace and soon, tears flowing from her eyes as she wails while her tiny arms clutch to me with her dear life. “M-Mommy left and said I could take care of myself! I thought I won’t see you or mommy anymore!”My fists clench, biting my lower lip to avoid curse words slipping from my mouth. “How long have you been alone, Lilian?”She’s five and I don’t know if she understands the concept of time.“F

  • My Human Mate Rejects Me   Chapter Nine: Tension

Mallory’s POV The command hangs in the air like a death sentence, and before I can comprehend the situation I am in, one of the wolf-men at the center lunges at me before changing into a large brown wolf. I am in such a frantic peril that I turn my back against the incoming attack as I let out a guttural scream. But in that heartbeat of terror, I feel the movement next to me in a blurred motion and I quickly turn—curiosity has overtaken me—as I witness the aggressor fly from my view and collide straight to the wall. The large werehound slides down and collapses on the floor, unconscious. Russell stands before me, his leg is in the air, and poses a perfect kick. He doesn’t stop from there, he turns to face the remaining black-suit men and swiftly kicks the nearest one, a psychotic large grin plastered on his face. Seeing that as a warning, the men back away, fear ingrained in their bodies as they catch sight of his animalistic side. Russell turns to his father. “Are you off yo

  • My Human Mate Rejects Me   Chapter Eight: Interrupted

Mallory’s POV “Hnn…”I’m not sure whose moans those are. My eyes are completely shut, letting this blissful pleasure take over my senses. It’s a bit different from the first time. This time, it is a feeling of mutual acceptance as we both surrender to this feeling of lust. I can’t believe I accept his touch, cave in and throw away my hatred towards wolves and go with the flow.I keep saying this is all for the sake of Lilian but a part of me relishes the feelish of his lips to mine. The kiss deepens as we fight dominance. I wrap my arms around his neck, pulling his head and his whole body to mine, crushing me yet I don’t give a damn.We just continue kissing—tongue sucking, licking, nibbing, biting—all the techniques I’m proud of to show I’m not the inferior type. And when I feel his hard-on pressed against my thigh, growing bigger, I feel a bit triumphant that he responds to my skill—a disgusting skill I’ve learned from my mother. He is the first one to break the kiss and as I op

  • My Human Mate Rejects Me   Chapter Six: Mates

Mallory’s POV “Hey, wake up.” A warm hand pats on my cheek, stirring me from my sleep. “What?” I groan as I swat that hand aside. I hear a child-like chuckle, oddly soothing to my ears. “You’ve fainted long enough, Mallory.”When my vision becomes less blurry, I’m greeted with the face of Russell DeLucci, invading my personal space. My eyes shoot open, the adrenaline rushes through my brain when I’m awakened and I haven’t fully grasped what’s going on.“AAH!”Giving out a loud, squeamish scream, my fist clenches and smacks right through his face, directly impacting on his nose. When I finally come to, I gasp as a realization dawns on me that this isn’t a dream and I literally suckerpunched the shit out of this violent alpha. Perhaps my sudden punch catches him off-guard as he turns to me and gives me an odd stare without a word. Not long after, blood drips from his nose and at that moment, his intense stare gives out an intimidating aura. Now is the right time to apologize, idi

  • My Human Mate Rejects Me   Chapter Five: A Shoulder Ride

Mallory’s POV I doubt he is the type to joke around when he shows that expression. His eyes, bright shades of green, are fixated on mine with the intensity that holds me captive. He hasn’t moved and long arms lean comfortably on the silver steel of the elevator wall between my head, trapping me from the chance of escaping. My eyes peer through behind his muscular shoulder and catch a reflection of a vicious predator in the form of a human man towering over his prey.A typical sight that wolves usually do to their victims.“You swear under your pack that you won’t hurt her?” My voice quivers as my hand slowly clenches into a fist. Finding my fear amusing to his ears, the wolf smirks. “Without a doubt.”Wolves are known for their deceit but intuition of mine tells me I should at least trust him even once. What choice do I have left now that I’m under his mercy?I lower my head, the throbbing of my whole body from this endless chase and this whole ordeal has taken a toll on my thou
