Aurelia’s POV

“Mommy! Wake up!”

My eyes flew open.

For a second, I couldn’t breathe as I felt the crushing weight of dirt and darkness from the coffin. The memory slammed into me so hard that I sat up with a gasp.

“Mommy?” A small hand touched my arm.

I froze. Slowly, I turned my head. Nolan stood beside the bed wearing his school uniform, his backpack hanging from one shoulder.

My heart stopped.

No, that wasn’t possible. I had buried my son. I had watched his tiny white coffin disappear into the ground. How was he here?

“Mommy, are you okay?” His voice trembled slightly.

I stared at him. He had the same messy black hair, the dimple in his left cheek, and the tiny scar above his eyebrow.

My chest tightened painfully, “Nolan?”

His frown deepened, “Why are you looking at me like that?”

Tears filled my eyes. Before he could react, I pulled him into my arms.

A small squeak escaped him, “Mommy!”

I held him tighter. He was warm, real, and alive. He wasn't a dream or a memory.

The tears I’d been holding back spilled down my cheeks. For a long moment, I couldn’t let go. I was terrified that if I did, he would disappear.

“Mommy, you’re acting weird,” he complained.

A laugh escaped through my tears, “Maybe I missed you.”

He rolled his eyes dramatically, “I’m only going to school.”

I released him and immediately reached for my phone. My hands were shaking as the screen lit up and I saw the date was September 14.

I froze. September 14 was my tenth wedding anniversary and also thirteen days before Nolan’s death, after which my husband sentenced me to death.

The phone slipped from my fingers onto the bed. I was back. Somehow, impossibly, I was back before Nolan’s death.

A knock sounded on the bedroom door before I could respond, the door opened.

My blood turned cold as Callum Arden walked into the room carrying a breakfast tray.

He looked the same. Tall, dark-haired, and dangerously handsome. The most feared Mafia boss in the city, my husband, and the man who buried me alive.

The tray nearly slipped from his hands when he saw my face.

“Aurelia?” Concern flashed in his eyes.

The sight confused me because the last time I saw those eyes, they were filled with hatred.

I remembered screaming his name, begging him to believe me, begging him not to leave me there.

He hadn’t listened.

Now he was standing in front of me carrying breakfast as if he hadn’t personally condemned me to die.

“Happy anniversary,” his voice was gentle.

In my last life, this had been one of the happiest days of my marriage before everything fell apart when Nolan died and Callum became a stranger.

Nolan jumped off the bed, “Dad, Mom’s crying.”

Callum immediately set the tray down and crossed the room.

My entire body tensed as he reached for me and I flinched. Callum saw it and confusion flickered across his face.

He slowly lowered his hand and ran a hand through his hair instead.

“Aurelia,” he said quietly. “What happened?”

The answer lodged in my throat. You buried me alive, you watched me die, you called me a murderer. Instead, I forced out a shaky breath.

“Nothing,” I lied.

His eyes narrowed, he clearly didn’t believe me. Before he could ask another question, his phone rang.

The ringtone shattered the tension as Callum glanced at the screen and a faint frown appeared on his face.

“I need to take this.”

He stepped toward the door while Nolan followed him out, complaining about a math test.

The moment they disappeared, I collapsed back against the headboard.

My mind raced as I remembered everything.

Nolan’s death, my trial, the coffin, my execution, every horrifying detail. But as I sat there trying to make sense of it all, a memory surfaced.

A memory I hadn’t thought about in years. My eyes widened. In my previous life, this was the day it started.

The day Callum received a phone call during our anniversary breakfast. The day he abruptly left for business. The day nobody could reach him for hours.

At the time, I hadn’t thought much of it but now I remembered something else. Thirteen days from now, Nolan would die and after that day Callum Arden was never the same again.

My gaze drifted toward the open doorway and a chill ran down my spine as Callum walked back inside with an apologetic look.

“Darling, I have to go take care of something. I promise I'll make it up to you when I'm back,” he said.

Except in my past life, that wasn’t what happened. He left after receiving that phone call. Hours later, he came home. After that day, everything changed.

“Wait…” I started to say as I stood up, “I’ll come with you.”

Callum arched a surprised brow at me, “Are you sure? You've always been explicitly clear that you didn't want to involve yourself in the family business.”

I cleared my throat, “I’ve changed my mind. I'm coming with you.”

In my previous life, I had watched Callum walk out that door without a second thought.

This time, I wouldn’t let him out of my sight because thirteen days later, my son would be dead and somehow, I knew that phone call was where it all began.

My hands trembled violently as the gun slipped from my fingers and clattered onto the floor.I stared ahead when someone groaned, and my heart nearly stopped.“Callum!”I ran forward. Relief crashed through me when I saw him struggling to his feet. He was bruised and bleeding, but he was alive. My gaze immediately shifted. Cillian was lying on the ground several feet away, blood spread across his shirt.A stunned expression crossed his face as he looked down at the wound. For the first time since I’d met him, he looked genuinely shocked, as if he never imagined his plan would end like this, as if he never imagined I would pull the trigger. The remaining henchman looked between the two brothers before wisely deciding he wanted no part in what happened next. He turned and ran, and nobody tried to stop him.I moved toward Callum. The moment I reached him,

Aurelia’s POVMy blood turned cold as the question echoed inside my head before panic slammed into me. “Nolan,” I gasped. I looked at Callum, and the same realization had already crossed his face just as his entire body went rigid.“What have you done?” he roared.Cillian smiled. The sight made my stomach churn.“Now we’re asking the right questions.”“WHERE IS MY SON?” Callum bellowed. The warehouse shook with the force of his voice.Cillian didn’t even flinch. Instead, he looked amused. As though he had been waiting for this reaction.“As angry as ever.”“If you touch my son—”“What?” Cillian interrupted mockingly. “You’ll kill me?”Callum jerked violently against the ropes, and the chair rattled. For a moment, I genuinely thought he was going to break free.“Tell me where he is.”Cillian laughed, “Relax.”My heart pounded. Relax? How could he possibly expect us to relax?“He’s alive,” Cillian said. I sighed in relief just as Callum turned toward me. “At first, I planned to kill

Aurelia’s POVThe henchmen dragged me across the warehouse. I stumbled several times, but they never loosened their grip.Cillian walked ahead of us with his hands tucked into his pockets as though we were taking a casual evening stroll instead of marching toward God knows what.My heart refused to stop pounding. The real Callum was alive. The thought repeated itself over and over inside my head.We reached the far end of the warehouse where a large steel door stood. One of the guards stepped forward and unlocked it. The heavy door creaked open.“After you,” Cillian said with a mocking smile.I hesitated, then I stepped inside. The room was dimly lit. At first, I saw nothing except concrete walls, then my eyes landed on the figure sitting in the corner. My breath caught. The man was tied to a chair. His wrists were bound behind his back. Bruises covered his face, dried blood stained his shirt, and his head hung low.For a second, I couldn’t move, then he slowly lifted his head, and our

Aurelia’s POVThe gun remained pointed directly at my chest. My heart pounded so hard I could hear it.For a long moment, I simply stared at him, then I laughed. A faint crease appeared between his brows.“What’s so funny? I just told you I'm not your husband,” he scowled at me.“I know,” I said quietly, and his smile faltered, but I continued, “I’ve known ever since you came back.”His smile disappeared completely as silence settled over the warehouse, and I took a slow step toward him despite the gun aimed at my chest.“The real Callum remembered every anniversary,” I continued, “He knew I hated mountains, he never would have forgotten Nolan’s tournament, he never would have told me to mind my own business, and he most certainly wouldn't have altered the security footage after being kidnapped.”For the first time, genuine surprise flashed across his face.“I spent days trying to understand what happened to my husband,” I held his gaze, “Then I realized I was asking the wrong question

Aurelia’s POVMy blood turned to ice as Callum stood behind me, his gaze flickering from my laptop screen to my face.I forced myself to remain calm.“What are you doing here?” I asked.A humorless laugh escaped him.“This is my office,” he snapped. “Right,” I laughed nervously. He took a few steps forward, pinching the bridge of his nose. “Why won't you let things be, Aurelia? Why do you keep digging?” he hissed at me. My grip tightened around the edge of the desk.“Why didn't you tell anyone you were kidnapped and how did you survive?” I asked, my tone dripping with suspicion. His jaw tightened, “I am the head of the Arden Family. I can't go around letting everyone know that in a moment of weakness, I was kidnapped. Besides, I fought my way out and escaped.”“But why did you lie to me? Why didn't you tell me?” I queried. His voice was sharp, “If word gets out that I was kidnapped, every enemy we have will see weakness. I couldn't risk you knowing.”I frowned. His explanation ma

Aurelia’s POVSlowly, I turned around to see Callum standing in the doorway, the hidden phone still in my hand. For one terrifying second, neither of us spoke, then his gaze dropped to the device.“What are you doing here?” His voice was calm.I forced myself to smile, “I couldn’t sleep.”His eyes narrowed, “And that led you to my office?”I laughed nervously, “I was looking for painkillers.”The lie sounded ridiculous even to me. Callum clearly didn’t believe a word of it, his gaze remained fixed on the phone. My pulse hammered. If he asked me to unlock it, I was finished. Fortunately, he walked forward and held out his hand.“Give it to me.”I hesitated then I handed it over.“What phone is that?” I asked casually.“Work phone,” his answer came immediately. “Who texted you?”His expression hardened, “Aurelia.”“What?”“It’s work. Mind your damn business.”His tone left no room for discussion.I swallowed my frustration.“Okay.”For a moment, neither of us spoke, then he slipped the
