Chapter 4

Author: Jasmine Woods
No sooner had my best friend left than the hospital room door burst open.

Cedric stormed into the room. His eyes blazed with murderous intent.

He threw a phone onto my bed. A video was playing on the screen.

“I already told you I’d make it up to you.

“Victoria never did anything to hurt you, so why would you hire people to go after her?!”

I stared at him in disbelief.

Then I saw the footage and laughed bitterly.

The video showed exactly what I had gone through not long ago.

When I called Cedric begging for help, he had been busy sleeping with Victoria.

Now they were turning around and accusing me of doing the same thing to her.

“I didn’t do any of this. Victoria set me up. Believe it or not.”

Cedric let out a mocking laugh. His voice dripped with sarcasm.

“Victoria is the kindest person I know. Do you really think I’d believe you?

“She’s still traumatized from what happened.

“You’re going to apologize to her. Right now.

“You’ll keep apologizing until she forgives you.

He ignored my protests, grabbed my arm and dragged me toward the door.

“Cedric, I’m the victim here. Why should I apologize to her?”

My wrists throbbed from his grip. My head was spinning.

From the moment he entered this room, he had not even noticed the injury on my forehead.

The only person he cared about was Victoria.

Suddenly, Cedric stopped. His voice turned threatening.

“You can refuse to apologize.

“But then Mrs. Lawson won't be getting her surgery.”

Terror washed over me.

Mrs. Lawson had found me as a child and raised me in her orphanage. She was the closest thing I had ever had to a mother.

A year ago, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. After months of searching, we had finally found a specialist willing to operate.

I could not let anything happen to her.

Tears filled my eyes as I stopped struggling.

Cedric dragged me into a luxury hospital suite.

The moment Victoria saw me, she shrank behind him as though she were terrified to see me.

“Honey, I'm scared.”

Cedric’s expression instantly darkened when he saw her reddened eyes.

“Apologize.”

He yanked me in front of her and kicked the back of my knee. I was forced to my knees.

Still, I remained silent.

Cedric exploded.

“Elysia, how long are you going to keep being stubborn?

“Do I really have to force you?”

I bit my lip until I tasted blood and glared at Victoria.

She crouched down until we were eye level. In a voice only I could hear, she whispered, “You'll never beat me, Elysia.

“If you’re tired of suffering, then stop showing up and getting in my way.”

Malice gleamed in her eyes when she looked at me.

Then, the next second, she threw herself backwards and crashed onto the floor.

She turned on the tears instantly.

“Miss Stone, if you didn’t want to apologize, that’s fine. Why did you push me?”

Before I could react, Cedric kicked me away and rushed to her side.

His face was filled with panic.

However, Victoria clutched her stomach, her expression twisted in pain.

“Honey, my stomach hurts. Our baby...”

Joy flashed across Cedric’s face when he heard that.

“Victoria, you’re pregnant?”

The next second, his expression turned terrifyingly dark. The air around him turned icy.

“Elysia, you’re unbelievable. If anything happens to Victoria or my child, you won’t live to regret it.”

“You two.” He called over two men.

“Take this would-be murderer to the basement. Maybe some time alone will teach her a lesson.”

I did not resist as the two bodyguards dragged me away.

As I turned to leave, I caught the triumphant smile hidden in Victoria's eyes.

I laughed.

‘Cedric, this is goodbye. When we meet again, I hope you’re ready to live with your regret.’
